"Watching you the other day was pretty impressive. You controlled that bunch of clucking wet hens nicely. So, tonight should be no problem for you to handle."
The Duke came to stand before Rose.
"I have a gift to give you."
"A gift?" she questioned.
"Mhm...," the Duke hummed.
"A gift made especially for you, sweet girl."
Pierce opened the palm of his hand, and a smoky white mist appeared. A rose made of pale pink light bloomed in his hand. Next, a fillagree ring with strange writing surrounded the fully opened rose, and a delicate chain made from the same pink light attached itself to the medallion. Pierce lifted the glowing necklace and gently placed it around Rose's neck. The light felt warm on her skin; it sank into her body and completely vanished.
"Do you like it?" asked the Duke.
"I do, but what was it, and where did it go?" Rose had a quizzical look.
