An Angel's Soul For The Devil's Heart

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This book is back in serialization. *Do check out and add my newest novel to your library.* The Dragon’s Fated Bride Note: The books are intertwined with each other through the characters. However, they are all intended to be standalone novels. There is no specific order. Angels have a history, and demons have a forthcoming... Fallen Archangel Samael is hiding under the guise of Lord Christopher Thorn II, the wealthiest shipping magnet in Victorian London. He has just laid his young wife, Lilith Thorn, to rest after her untimely death. In an effort to comfort the grieving family of the deceased woman, he uses his angelic gifts and accidentally awakens a mysterious entity. Her name is Scarlette Rose.... And this extraordinary being is about to upend Christopher's ordinary life. ~~~ [Excerpt] He lashed out viciously, "This is far from finished." Rose went to protest, and Chris swiftly laid another ferocious kiss on her lips to hush her up. Then tugged her hand, leading her to the curb. While they waited for their carriage, he leaned over and panted into her ear. "You forgot to negotiate what would happen after we finished dinner." Christopher was so close to Rose that she was drowning in his erotic scent. Her clouded mind scrambled to remember what she had said to him earlier in the coach, and the words eventually rang out like an alarm resounding in her head. 'I am in control for the rest of this evening while we are at dinner. You must do everything I want and ask for,' Rose held her tongue and did not respond to Christopher. She realized the error of her words. Rose should have never mentioned the part of 'while at dinner.' She understood it negated the first part of her demand about 'the rest of the evening.' ~~~ THIS IS A SLOWBURN NOVEL: A slow burn is a story that moves at its own pace, usually not very fast, and with characters, obstacles, and plotlines that can take a bit to develop. {WARNING: Mature subject matter R-18} THE SEXY TIME STUFF COMES LATER IN THE BOOK. "You're right. Ignore what I'm saying; the hour is late, and my thoughts are strewn." Christopher reached into his pocket and pulled out his watch to check the time. He wanted to be sure to return Rose to Dragonwood before dawn. She saw him push the latch cover release, and the lid popped open. Rose saw the tiny painted portrait inside.

"Who is that?" Rose thought it was a family member, then remembered Christopher had no family, because he was an Archangel. Then she felt her question was too personal and wished she had not asked.

"She is another of my regrets. That is my deceased wife, Lilith." Christopher held the watch closer, so Rose could see the portrait. "We buried her the same day I discovered you in the graveyard. It is strange how the destinies have drawn us together, Rose. We are complete opposites, an angel and a demon, yet attracted to one another like lures." Christopher closed the watch and returned it to his pocket. There was little time left before he had to get Rose to Dragonwood.

"How about you asking one more question, love?" He leaned back and waited on Rose.

"Okay, you said Jackson told you I was very sick; how did you know.?"

"We were spying on Dragonwood to find out if you received the flowers I had sent. Did you get them?" Rose nodded her head, and The Lord continued. "Jackson and I were about to mount our steeds and leave when your scream from Dragonwood stopped us."

"My little lark, I still can't believe that sound came from your tiny body. It frightened us both, so I sent Jackson to identify what was happening. He is a phantom and has the ability to walk through walls. Jackson reported back that you were covered in blood."

Christopher shifted Rose to look at him, reaching down to touch the side of her abdomen. He watched her flinch, and he quickly removed his hand. "Is it still painful?" Rose shook her head. "I'm sorry for doing that to you. Do you forgive me?" Christopher took his finger and tilted her chin up so she would meet his gaze. He wanted to read her feelings, but her face was impassive.

"There is nothing to be sorry for," Rose repeated the words he had told her earlier.

"There's no such thing as a fair fight; it's all or nothing in combat."

"You are quite a remarkable woman, Scarlette Rose." Christopher knew time was running short. "Okay, one last question, then we have to get you home." He was ready to change the subject.

"It's about your wings. My interest is in your wings. I want to see your back. Do you have scars, and how do you keep from tearing your clothes?" Rose beamed at The Lord.

"Sit up, and I will show you." Christopher chuckled, and was relieved the mood had shifted. He removed his arm from her shoulders and lifted himself out of the loveseat. The Lord pulled off his jacket and showed her three unique over-lapping panels in the suit coat. "See how my hand slides through each side? Same for my wings. I have the suits and shirts individually tailored for this."

Christopher undid his tie and unbuttoned the dress shirt. Rose flushed bright pink and dropped her gaze.

"Now, come on, Rose, you can't be shy about asking for answers to these questions. You knew I was going to show my back." The corners of Christopher's mouth turned up in a conspicuous grin. The blush on Rose's face and body aroused him. He loved seeing her reactions when he flirted and teased her.

Rose watched as Christopher untucked the shirt and slid it off over the massive, sinewy, woven muscles of his shoulders and upper arms. Exposing two six-inch long by two inches wide rectangular tattoos on each side of his spine between his shoulder blades.

"May I touch them?" Rose wanted to feel the texture and examine the designs.

"Of course you may." The Lord replied.

"Does it hurt when they come out of your back?" Rose inquired. She was perched on her knees on the loveseat, ready to inspect and touch the markings.

She saw Christopher shake his head and glance at her over his shoulder, "No, like said earlier. They are a natural part of my body."

"How did these get here?" Rose's fingers traced the tattoos, and she saw each was marked with intricate floral patterns, filigree, and feathers. Rose had never seen something like this on a person's body before. It was beyond exquisite to her.

"I was created this way. My birth was among the stars in the pillars of creation. When the earth and heavens were made and time began. I watched at God's left hand from the seventh realm of heaven." He stared up at the night sky through the glass ceiling while he spoke, trying to distract his senses.

"Time for me is but a blink of an eye. I've walked in Eden and survived the wrath of God when he flooded the earth. I witnessed so many events, I could never tell it all." Christopher gritted his teeth and tried waiting patiently while Rose finished caressing the markings on his back, but the stimulation from her gentle tracing was overwhelming.

"STOP!" He shouted, spinning around to catch her hands.

Christopher grabbed Rose up by both wrists, startling her and making her give out a small cry.

"Ahh!"

He shoved her back to the loveseat and jumped astraddle of her body. The Lord heard her breath hitch, cupping Rose's lower jaw in his huge hand while restraining her wrists in his other. He wanted to kiss her tender pink lips. Christopher lowered his forehead to connect with hers and cursed.

"Fuck, I'm not sorry for this. I can no longer hold back my desire to devour you."

I will have a special announcement about Rose and Thorn soon. Stay tuned to future authors' notes for the details.
