"ROSE!" Christopher shouted. "Get back on the horse!"
Growls and snarls filled the air, as well as clicks and gnashing of teeth. The Lord held the lantern far out in front of him and circled quickly to ensure a wolf was not closing behind him. Onyx was riled up and ready to fight. He could feel the powerful stallion at his back, the muscles in Onyx's legs contracting and prepared to lunge forward into the fray.
As Rose climbed back aboard Apollo, she noticed he was surprisingly calm about everything happening. He stood motionless and didn't make a sound. In addition, the stallions' muscles were taut, ready to run at a moment's notice.
"Can you hear what these wolves are thinking?" Christopher anxiously asked Rose. He unsheathed his sword and put himself between the wolves and the horses, preparing to engage them.
