CHAPTER 52 - YOU LOVE HER, DON'T YOU?

It was early morning and Arthur came knocking on the door of Lucian's cottage.

Since the last time he showed up here, he hadn't come again because he heard the search had begun in the town. First, he didn't want to meet Andrew and second, he didn't want to be the reason Anna was found.

The door opened showing Liz's slightly pale and wrinkled face.

"Arthur! You are here, come inside" she said and gave way for Arthur to walk in.

"Is Anna in?" Arthur asked as he got a seat a sat on it.

"Yes, she's in. She slept late last night, taking care of me and so did Lucian. So I think they're probably still asleep..." Liz answered.

Arthur hit his head.

"Am so sorry I didn't ask. How are you feeling? I don't know much about magic, but am guessing it must be exhausting..." Arthur said looking guilty. All his mind has been filled with is Anna.

"Am fine and No, magic in itself is not exhausting since it is a part of you. You only exhaust yourself when you try to go beyond your limits. Just like normal work. When you do beyond what your body can take, you exhaust it .... " Liz explained.

"I see..."

"You love her, don't you? " Liz suddenly asked

"Huh..." Arthur looked up at Liz, a little confused

" Am talking about Anna. You love her don't you?"

Arthur's ears turned a shade red upon hearing the question Liz asked. He didn't know how to answer this.

"I..."

Liz chuckled, she never thought a grown man like Arthur could also turn so shy at the mention of his loved one.

"I saw the way you looked at her when you first came. It was like someone seeing his long lost love..." Liz said and smiled.

Arthur blushed, he was indeed seeing his long-lost love.

"Well, I guess I still love her but I don't think she still does. It has already been ten years... Did she...did she ever mention me? " Arthur asked nervously.

Liz sighed as she took a seat a sat opposite Arthur.

"Well, Arthur... I don't know much about Anna's feelings, but I do know it's very difficult for her to voice them out. Also, she has been through a lot. It's not easy to suddenly find out you were never human or the need to have to escape from your father or suddenly waking up one time to find out you are pregnant without knowing how..."

"Most people would freak out from situations like this, but she's handling it well. Sometimes I see how she struggles to find some answers to these problems and it pains me that I could not be of any help to her... So I think you should give her some time..." Liz said, trying to give a little advice.

"Sure, I don't want to pressure her either. I..."

"Who's pressuring who?? Good morning, Arthur, you're here..." Anna came out of her room, interrupting their conversation.

"Hahaha, Good morning. We were talking about how you keep pressuring me all the time about my health..."

"Well, I do need to do that, you and Lucian are all I have..." Anna said and feign a pout.

"Yes, I didn't come around because of the search in the town. I was afraid my appearance here might cause trouble ..." Arthur simply responded at the side.

"Or you just didn't want to meet Andrew..." Anna cut in with a smile causing Arthur to look dumbfounded as his thoughts have been seen through.

Anna and Liz laughed at his silly expression and it caused Arthur to blush.

"Alright, I came to tell you I'll be leaving tomorrow. Andrew and his men left yesterday, so you don't have to stay indoors anymore... Is Lucian still not awake? " He asked.

"He should be..."

In the little room in the cottage, Lucian's eyes were shut tightly as he lay on his bed.

"Raphael, are you there??" Lucian asked. He had delved into the same dimension he entered when Liz was performing her spell.

"Little lass, you shouldn't be coming here often. Remember you don't have a balanced power, and you could tire yourself out if you keep coming here..." Raphael spoke as he appeared in front of Lucian looking the same way he did the other time.

"Raphael, this is the second time am seeing you like this and you're nagging me this much? If I knew, I wouldn't have come..." Lucian said, folding his arms and pouting his lips.

Raphael stared at the little boy in front of him, whose looks were so out of the world and couldn't help smiling. He didn't like it when he was given the task at first, but now he liked this little boy who cared so much about the few people around him.

"Well, it is not my fault that my charismatic look can't keep you away from me..." he said with a smirk causing Lucian's lips to twitch.

"Nate should be your son instead. Apart from food, he is just as narcissistic as you..."

"Am not a narcissist"

"Really? Alright, between you and our world, which is great? ..." Lucian asked narrowing his eyes.

"of course it's me..."

"See... That didn't take long at all"

"..."

Raphael turned speechless. Why did he feel like he had just been treated like a five-year-old child?

Lucian smiled victoriously, then squinting his eyes, he asked seriously

" Raphael, you don't teach me spirit spells anymore and you no longer talk about my beast. Is anything wrong?"

"Also, though I feel him, it is not as strong as first. It feels as if something is repressing it, something is keeping it from being active. It makes me feel uncomfortable... And there's this urge in me to want to set it free..." Lucian said, his expression displayed how uncomfortable he was feeling.

Raphael stood stunned not knowing what to say. This was all because he had sealed his devil. And he couldn't teach him any more spells, because he was afraid by using his power, he could energize his devil. Also, Lucian's power source was different from his, there was nothing much he could teach him.
