All the keys. chapter 1: the adoption

You know how it feels, moving from house to house, parents to parents, school to school, making new friends and leaving them behind. Yah that's how my life is like , infact that's how my foster life goes like . So I'm Kiara , a name I was given by the foster care centre but I like to be called Kia .

Growing up I was well taken care of by the centre and I made great friends there . But when I turned 13 my world turned upside down. I was informed that there was a nice couple that wanted to adopt me and honestly I was thrilled.

They called me in and I could tell that they loved me from the point they first laid their eyes at me "I was pulchritundinous by the way." But the couple was a bit weird . I was having an akward feeling that something was fishy but I shook off the feeling, maybe that's how being adopted felt like after all. So I just chilled.

My new lovely to be parents filled a couple of papers and the nanny at the foster care packed my bags . I said goodbye to my weird buddies and we ought to keep in touch.

When we were about to leave my bestie , Fiona called out to me "Kiara". I was a bit sad about leaving so I just waved at her then my new parents asked "hey miss , does Kiara have a full name , like a surname?" "She doesn't ma'am , we just found her when she was still a baby on our door one morning. " the nanny glared at me . My parents' faces lit up " didn't she have a diary with details or something?" "I've told you all I knew ma'am , she didn't even have a name infact we named her" the nanny headed back.

We left in a very massive and laxarious car. These people were beyond rich , it's like I was the president's daughter haha.

Graveyard silence accompanied us all the way home with the couple exchanging creepy glances like they were on to something. We reached home and waal it was like a mansion . I nervously stepped out of the car flubbergusted to see a house like this in my life. Welcome home sweety "the lady said " with a warm smile .

The gates opened with remotes and we entered. I started looking around the place analysing it when my new father noticed and told me I could feel free to explore the house then come inside , i nodded . I obviously started with the back of the house where everything was sublime and colourful.

I was just envying the view when suddenly I saw a monstrous dog coming at me barking like crazy. If I didn't make a move this dog was gonna eat the hell outta me so I started running for my life , screaming my lungs out with my heart beating in my belly. I spotted the front door and raced through it , closing the door breathlessly.

"Such a bad start at my new home" I said to myself and burst out laughing and my parents and a boy my age joining me too. We sat down and I got to learn that my parent's names were Mr Gedion Edward and Mrs Bellargin Edward then there was Huey Edward which was unfortunately my brother and now I was Kiara Edward" the Edwards" I said to myself and a smile escaped my lips.

"Water?" Asked Huey offering me a glass full . "Oh yes thank you" I quickly drank the whole glass. Mr and Mrs Edward were going out so Huey had to be the house's tour guide . First he showed me to my room and holy moly macaroni! it was so big and smelled so fresh . The bed was so cosy and fluffy. I wanted to dance at the moment but I just did a happy dance in my mind hehehe.

"Hey you coming or not?" Huey shook me , I guess I was stuck in my mind thinking how I got to have all this in one day. "Yah sorry bruv" I quickly followed Huey who was two steps away from my room already.

We toured around every single corner of the house and I swear this house was giving me butterflies . "It's getting late now I need to write my homework tomorrow is school day" he said rubbing my head gently and smirked. "I've never been to school before , we were home schooled by the nannies.

How old are you thou?" I was so curious cause damn this boy was like 2 inches taller than me and he was kinda cool. "Oh am just fourteen years, just one year difference . You can study in my class if you're hardworking and smart cause we're just the same age. Maybe we can do my homework together and I'll tell dad to enroll you in my class? "Hearing this I was titillated and we went to Huey's study room.

He took his mathematics homework book and I easily solved all the math problems, gosh I didn't previse that I was so smart. Looking at Huey I could tell that he was impressed ."Waal . You're so intelligent, thanks for the help .

"That's all the homework I had ." We exchanged stupid grins and I muttered

"Mind If we catch up?"

"Of course not kikie" he giggled to the nickname .

I asked about the first thing that was roaming in my mind , "Hey care to tell me where that insane dog came from?"

"Umm dad bought it for protection because we only have 2 servants , the cook and the maid ." He noted with a ting of dismay.

We talked for hours and we had a lot in common and gosh we were both so smart and now I had a competitor laugh out loud .

Mom and dad came back home with the best news ever. "Honey we've enrolled you in Huey's school in the same class ." Mom happily inunciated .

Tears of joy streamed Down my cheeks as I hugged her really tight and thanked her. I poured my heart out telling her how thankful I was .

Supper was ready so we ate and everyone went their separate ways to sleep. Tomorrow was a big day for me hashtag a new start so I had to sleep early . I prayed and dozed off.
