Chapter 26

Mrs. Qin sat on her bed, her mind consumed by restlessness. She had been pacing up and down the room for hours, unable to find solace in sleep.

Mrs. Qin's heart raced with a mixture of anger, frustration, and a glimmer of hope.

She had always gotten whatever she wanted and she killed anyone who stood in her way.

Finally she was getting rid of Alex for good. He was just like his mother, a parasite and a bitch, but all this was going to end soon, she wondered why her minions hadn't called her for two days already.

Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm her racing mind. She walked over to the large window in her bedroom and stared out at the twinkling city lights below.

The darkness enveloping the room mirrored the darkness that consumed her thoughts. She couldn't shake the anxiety that gnawed at her insides

Unable to bear the stillness any longer, she turned towards the room and began pacing again. Her steps were quick and agitated, mirroring the turmoil within her

She knew that she needed to find a way to calm her mind, to find a moment of respite amidst the chaos.

Just as she was lost in her own thoughts, her phone suddenly rang, breaking the silence of the room. Mrs. Qin paused, her pacing coming to an abrupt halt.

She took a deep breath, adjusting her dress with a swift motion, before she sat down and answered the call in a steady and clear voice.

The man on the other end of the line spoke cautiously, explaining that he had refrained from contacting her earlier to lay low. Mrs. Qin's patience was running thin, and she could feel her irritation bubbling to the surface. This was not what she wanted to hear.

Cutting him off harshly, she demanded answers. "Did you succeed in the job I gave you?" she asked, her tone laced with urgency and frustration.

There was a brief moment of silence on the other end of the call, causing Mrs. Qin's heart raced even faster.

The anticipation was almost unbearable. Finally, the man spoke up, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "We did as you instructed but there is no confirmation of his death" .

He explained that he had completed the mission, but he couldn't be sure if the target was still alive.

Mrs. Qin's anger flared, and she let out a curse, berating the man for his incompetence. "You are a complete fool, so useless, you couldn't complete one simple task for me".

She had entrusted him with a crucial task, and the uncertainty of its success was unacceptable. She scolded him for his lack of thoroughness, for leaving loose ends.

Fueled by her frustration, Mrs. Qin abruptly cut the call, ending the conversation without any further explanation.

She tossed her phone onto the bed with a forceful motion, the anger and disappointment coursing through her veins. The device bounced slightly, landing with a thud on the soft mattress.

As she looked at her phone, now lying motionless, Mrs. Qin realized that her anger was not solely directed at the man on the other end of the call.

It was a reflection of her own mounting pressure, her own fears and desires. The weight of her responsibilities was suffocating, and she couldn't afford any missteps.

Taking a deep breath, Mrs. Qin made a conscious effort to calm herself. She knew that losing control would only hinder her progress.

She needed to focus, to find a way to rectify the situation and ensure that her plans moved forward.

Mrs. Qin sank onto her bed, her mind spinning with a myriad of emotions. Hope mingled with fear as she contemplated the possibility that Alex might still be alive, secretly plotting his revenge.

She knew she couldn't afford to let her guard down. If Alex was indeed alive, he would come back stronger, more determined than ever. Mrs. Qin gazed into the darkness, her resolve hardening.

The chapter had closed, but the story was far from over. Mrs. Qin would wait, biding her time, until she could finally confirm Alex's demise.

Until then, she would remain alert, ready to face whatever lay ahead. After all, in the game of power, one could never truly rest.

With a determined expression, Mrs. Qin straightened her posture and walked over to the window, gazing out at the city lights twinkling in the distance.

The night air brushed against her face, offering a momentary respite from the suffocating confines of her room.

She was never a lady to back down, she always got what she wanted and this time was no difference, she walked back to her bed and laid down, she whispered "Alex you would meet your damn mother soon".
