CHAPTER 6

His heart has been restless. All he could think was his Princess, his beloved.

‘’Alex, you need to breath. We will arrive in a few minutes.’’ Luke said calmly. As much as he wanted to console his best friend, he knew he cannot calm his raging mind and worries.

Liz has been in the infirmary since yesterday. The mess has been taken care of, and has been cleaned spotless you wouldn’t think that a battle has taken place.

Their men had been trained the worst way possible in order to survive. So as her best friend, Shania Wolfe McAllister. She was the best general way before she took the responsibility as a princess. Her coronation as Queen was moved in a month because of some pressing matters.

And here she is lying unconscious in the infirmary. Although their infirmary has been equipped with all the necessary equipment like that of a hospital, but since the wound on her shoulder has been really deep that she hasn’t gained her consciousness just yet.

‘’My lady, His Highness King Alexander has arrived.’’ Tyler, the royal guard informed her. Wiping her tears, she stood up from where she sat.

She could hear heavy footsteps coming through the door.

‘’Your majesty’’ Liz bowed towards him and she was about to go out when the man behind King Alexander met her gaze.

‘’My lady, could you give me a moment alone with My Princess?’’ he asked sincerely.

‘’Yes, your majesty. ‘’ She replied and was about to go

‘’You too, Lukas Smith Telford!’’ he ordered.

‘’Why, of course, Your Highness.’’ He replied, making his way out, following the beauty.

‘’Hey, wait up my lady’’ He said, catching up with her.

‘’My lord, whatever is the matter?’’ she asked looking back at him.

‘’I-uhm call me-‘’ Liz interrupted him

‘’Lukas Smith Telford? I heard it quite well, Sire’’ she said.

‘’I’m sorry but I didn’t quite catch up your name, My lady.’’ He said scratching the back of his neck.

‘’Liziana Fisher Thompson.’’ She replied, looking up at him. Hmm. He’s quiet looking great, for a vampire. 6ft.tall, Dark brown eyes and hair. Such a charmer.

‘’Beautiful name, for a beautiful Lady, may I call you Lizzie, my Lady?’’ he asked and smiled.

‘’As you were Lukas’’ she replied.

Alexander slowly went to her side. She looked so beautiful even when lying unconscious.

‘’My Princess, I know I’ve promised to protect you, your empire and your people. I’m so sorry I wasn’t here to do so. It pains my heart to see you in this state. And why the hell were you out, fighting when your men could do the deed?’’ He said while caressing her cheeks. He is fuming.

He’s so angry that some mutts dared to hurt his princess.

‘’Wake up, my Princess, and let me see your beautiful eyes. I will tear those mutts to pieces, in ways unimaginable..’’ He whispered in her ear, kissing her forehead and went out of the room.

He saw Lukas talking with the lady recently.

‘’May I speak with the first in command,-‘’

‘’The name is Liziana Fisher Thompson, Your Highness. I will go and get Markus Sebastian Wolfe, Your Highness.’’ She said, curtsied, and made her way to the Palace.

‘’Alex, ‘’ Lukas said worriedly.

‘’She’s alright Luke. What did you know?’’

‘’She was trained to be a General and has been a very good warrior at that before she has to take the responsibility of being a princess as what Lady Lizzie told me. Her coronation has also been moved to next month. I also found out that some Prince Arthur, an avid suitor of a werewolf was the one who initiated the attack. Bringing an army of wolves with him.’’ He explained.

‘’Oh, that son-of-a-bitch! He dared hurt my beloved. Tell our men to guard the perimeter. Kill any unwanted trespassers and see if you can gather much more information. And by the way, you seem love-struck with that Lady Thompson? Do you have something to tell me, Luke?’’ he asked, raising his brows at him.

‘’I, I- she’s my beloved, Alex.. her scent is very intoxicating and it took everything in me not to pounce on her and claim her.’’ He said, looking really devastated.

‘’Why are you looking devastated? Aren’t you happy?’’ he asked his best friend.

‘’But she’s human, Alex! How can I not worry? What if she won’t like me as I am a bloodsucking vampire?’’ he complained, insecurity is lacing his voice. He rarely saw his best friend in such a devastated manner.

‘’Hey, stop being like that. I’m not used to seeing you like that. You should be happy after almost two thousand years of being with me, and searching for your beloved, you finally found her.’’ Alexander consoled his first in command/best friend.

Liz, together with Marc was a few feet away. She must have heard everything. Her eyes wide, mouth ajar.

‘’Your Highness’’ Marc greeted him.

‘’You must be Markus Sebastian Wolfe’’ he asked

‘’Yes, Your Highness.’’

‘’I need to talk to you, is it possible to hold a meeting with the counsel? I had my men guard the whole perimeter. Tell your warriors not to worry about their presence.’’ He said. He could hear rustling inside the room where his Princess was. In just a blink of an eye, he found himself inside the room. She’s awake.

‘’I, you’re here, Your Highness’’ was the first thing she said, smiling up at him.

‘’Yes, yes I’m here my Princess. Careful,’’ he said getting near her and helping her sit.

‘’I’m sorry I have to let Marc call you. I-‘’

‘’Shhh, you don’t have to explain, love. I promised you I will protect you but I failed to do so as I was in Toronto for an important meeting with my counsel. I have my men stand guard around the empire. I told your first in command to tell them not to get agitated with the presence of a thousand vampire warriors around the perimeter.’’ He said to her, hugging her tightly.

‘’Thank you, Alex.’’ She said, burying her face in his neck.

‘’And why the hell were you out there with your men?’’ he suddenly remembered.

‘’I’ve been their general before I assumed the position of a Princess. Well I was born a princess, but then I decided to be trained like every other warrior so when time comes, I could defend my people.’’ She explained.

‘’But you were fighting with wolves, not humans at that! You could’ve been hurt more than you already are!’’ he scolded her.

‘’My general instinct was kicking in, I feel the need to fight beside my warriors and royal guards. Why am I even explaining to you? You will not understand how it feels. You were born with supernatural powers while I have to go through intense training all to protect everyone I love.’’

‘’Í know love… I know. Can I stay for a few weeks here? With my men of course’’

He asked.

‘’As you wish, Your Highness.. ‘’ she replied lowly.

‘’You don’t have to be worried about my men. They’re highly trained vampire warriors. Which means they won’t just bite anyone on the road. Also, we do have supplies.’’

‘’Alright. It’s settled then. Have you any news about Arthur?’’ she asked.

‘’Well. Heard he was badly injured. The mutt has escaped, but not for long.’’ He answered, fuming.

‘’Calm down, Alex.’’ She said touching his jaw. He looked pretty scary when furious.

‘’Are you hungry love?’’ he asked, holding her closer.

‘’I’m starving actually.’’

‘’Your friend got you some food. Here you go’’ he said while getting her food from the side.

She then started eating. She looked up at him occasionally. The palace cook is a very good cook. Simple dishes would taste like heaven.

‘’Have you ever eaten anything other than blood?’’ she asked curiously.

‘’Of course.. We do eat normal food. But it wouldn’t satisfy our thirst for blood.’’ He whispered in her ear and the color on her face drained.

‘’Are you scared?’’

‘’I-uhm.. No, but the way you said it made me terrified.’’ She replied.

‘’You don’t have to be terrified of me, Love. I will never hurt you. I’ve been waiting for you for two thousand years and hurting you hasn’t even crossed my mind. You see, we vampires only have one beloved for a lifetime. Nothing could compare, no woman could ever take that spot in my heart. I’ve smelled you first before I’ve seen you. It was like the most enticing, the most erotic and the very tempting scent I’ve ever smelled. And when I saw you, I knew right away that you are the one.’’ He said, sincerity is evident in his voice.
