This situation was not something Collin could truly understand. While he understood men loved women, unless they didn't. He was the young master of his clan and was shielded from information such as this.
It took long enough to scroll through all the different views from the bathroom to allow Collin to completely dry off. After getting dressed and donning his faceless servant costume Collin headed to the market. He already knew the first thing that he was going to buy, paper and something to write with so he could make a list of things to buy.
After buying a pen and paper it took no time at all to make a list of well over fifty items. The top three being cultivation books, toilet paper, and towels.
It wasn't hard to figure out which stores and stalls sold what. The stores had written what they sold on signs with painted pictures, the stall vendors yelled very loudly what they had. Collin had already decided to buy things for the house first and then get cultivation materials.
Looking at the many things he needed to buy in the stores it dawned on Collin that as he was pretending to be a faceless servant of a rich young master buying one set of dishes would be suspicious than buying one hundred sets. To get around this he ordered in sets of ten, from plates to bowls, and cups. Collin didn't even think about cups, drinking cups, teacups, and wine cups he now owned ten of each.
Items would be asked for, they would be shown, a wave of the hand and money would appear from the bag of holding, and then another wave of the hand would send the items to the bag of holding. After a few hours what and average person would consider a vast fortune was spent, but it was pocket change compared to the mountain of gold coins in the bag of holding.
Colin had to return to the villa to unload his purchases so he could finish his shopping. This time when he went to the front gate all he had to do was touch the array panel on the gate for it to open. Box after box was pulled out of the bag of holding filling the entrance of the main house. Collin grabbed two of the boxes and brought them to the bathroom, one full of towels and the other box was full of smaller boxes of toilet paper. Collin did feel a sense of accomplishment with this simple action, he set a goal and completed it. Now all he had to do was dig through the many, many other boxes to find the various soaps and shampoos to bring the goal to perfection.
After returning to the market Collin began working down the list again. The only tough decision Collin faced was his new clothing, did he wish for plain functional clothes or fancy clothes like he wore when he was a young master of a clan. If everything goes to his hastily created plan, that he thought of while in the bathroom this morning, he would choose a cultivation path and rarely leave his villa for the next year or more.
He decided to pass on the fancy clothes, while he could envision certain circumstances that he may need to dress like a young master and meet people, he didn't know if his still growing body would still fit in them at those times is what he told himself. A small part of him saw wanting the fancy clothes as him wanting to pretend everything was as it used to be, and he felt repulsed by it.
A short time later it was the time Collin was looking forward to, book shopping. Common books for cooking and gardening were plentiful and would only cost a few gold coins, books on cultivation and its related subject matters would cost spirit stones and may or may not be there.
Collin was the young master of a cultivation clan and was taught about the standard way of cultivation. Cultivating before the age of ten should be avoided due to its effects on a growing body and the damage it can cause. Any time after the tenth birthday testing for spirit roots is done to see if that person can cultivate. Having spirit roots means the person has the ability to cultivate and are called talents, they will be trained by their family, clan, or sent to a sect for training. Not having spirit roots means the person unable to cultivate and are called untalented, talentless, or trash. They are usually pushed to the side to allow those who may be talented to take their place. At the age of sixteen a child is considered an adult and will be thrown into the streets to fend for themselves. Some from cultivation clans that turn out to be talentless die in mysterious accidents not long after being kicked out of their clans.
But there are alternative paths to cultivation. If a man wants to cultivate and everyone tells him he can't, he will find a way or die trying, and a great deal of people died trying. These alternative paths were Collins only hope forward to his dreams.
Walking into the closest bookstore was shocking to Collin. For something like this he would have just sent a servant to buy the books he wanted and within a few hours they would appear in his room. But this, bookshelves going from the floor to the roof stacked with books, each bookshelf had more books than he had ever seen and there were dozens of bookshelves in this store alone. Collin almost couldn't wait to see the other three bookstores in the market.
"What do ya want?" The old man behind the counter asked after he put his book down. He was a tall man with a thick white beard that matched his unkempt shoulder length white hair.
"Training books on how to learn to cook and garden and books on alternative paths of cultivation. I also want books on alchemy, treasure refining, and inscription." Collins nervousness and excitement creak in his immature voice.
The shopkeeper narrowed his eyes to give Collin a look over, making his wrinkled face even more wrinkled. After a few seconds he stopped looking at Collin and moved between the bookshelves grabbing books till he was holding a large stack of books. Returning to the counter he placed the books down and separated them in to six piles, he tapped the first pile before he started to explain what they were.
"These are cookbooks, lots of drawing, really easy to learn, they range from very simple to fancy fare. It will take time to learn, so don't expect overnight success. These are gardening books; they have drawing of all the popular plants to raise in a villa and shows how to raise low level medical herbs. Very easy to learn. These books will be 3 gold coins.
These books are about the different paths of cultivation, tell your young master to choose carefully. Mary from the first bookstore down the other side of the street may have one or two different books, but everyone else will have the same as me.
These books are on alchemy they range from Qi Condensation to Foundation Establishment stage. There are also notes from alchemists about beginning alchemy. I should have the best collection in town, other than the cultivation clans.
These books are about treasure refining, they only cover the very basics. Carl one bookshop down this side of the street will have a far better selection, but there expensive but worth it if your young master wants to learn.
These books are on inscription, every shop in the market has a selection of inscription books from making quality of life arrays to massive arrays that can only be made by powerful clans. They range from Qi Condensation to Core Formation.
The cultivation books will be forty-two spirit stones."
Collin quickly paid and stored the books in his bag of holding before rushing out of the shop. The old man looked at him almost running away from him, like the kid was afraid he would take the books away. The old man maybe a little gruff, but he was glad the kid wanted cultivation books. For the past several months faceless servants have been coming in because of a rumor that he was selling books with sexually explicit paintings. Every day since that rumor started his normal customers have been staying away and only perverts browse his bookstore.
"If I ever find out what moron spread that rumor, I'll cram every book in this store down his throat!" Said the old man as he picked up his book and began looking at the pages of sexually explicit paintings.
