Once Alexis had settled back into her old room, and Rick had made arrangements with her to move her things back home, he rejoined Kate in the living room.

"Everything okay?" She asked.

"Better than okay." He said with a satisfied smile.

"You know she is going to move out on her own one day, right?"

His smile faded. "Okay, she will. But not now."

When they had finished their wine, Castle yawned. "Bedtime?" He asked.

She nodded. "It's been one hell of a day."

"It's amazing that someone could make people do something like confess to murder."

Kate nodded. "I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself. I would have said it was impossible."

"But you've done it yourself." Castle said with a smile.

"What? I never made someone believe they committed a crime they didn't do."

"No, but you made me fall in love with you. You ensorcelled me in fact."

"I what?"

"Used your female magical arts on me to make me fall in love with you."

"Are you calling me a witch, Castle?"

"No. A sorceress. You took complete control of my heart, mind and my soul with your womanly magic. Like Gandalf, in the Lord of the Rings, or the Wizard of Oz, or the wizards of the Unseen University. Good wizards. But certainly never a witch. "

"Quit while you're not too far behind." Kate said, winking at him.

As they began to undress, Castle heard Kate mutter something under her breath. "What is it?"

"I think I left my phone at my place."

"Isn't that it right there?"

"That's my NYPD issue phone. I have a personal phone as well. I'm going to need it before we go in to the precinct. She put her blouse back on and slipped into a pair of shoes and gathered her things up. "I'll be back in no time, babe. Don't start without me." She gave him a kiss and was gone.

Once back in her apartment, Kate looked around. Then she raised her arms and the 21st century Manhattan apartment faded away and something else took its place. Kate now stood in a combination of the ancient and the modern. Flaring torches provided lights along with LEDs. Ancient parchments shared space on a desk with a modern computer. A battered work table contained tools made of flint and modern miracle metals. A stone mortar and pestle stood by a DNA sequencing machine.

Kate walked to the work table and picked up a small figure of a man. "Will Sorenson, you have fulfilled your reason for existence to me. You were the first to make Castle jealous. I release you."

Far across the Atlantic in a cubicle in the US Embassy in London, Agent Sorenson felt momentarily dizzy. For a moment he thought he had forgotten something, but after a second he was sure his memory was fine.

Kaye then pulled out a second figure and smiled. "And you have served me very well, Schlemming." She smiled at the memory of Castle's jealousy. "I release you."

Detective Tom Demming almost nodded off. After all he had been stuck in a car doing surveillance on a burglar who was probably sound asleep. Demming suddenly realized something. He was deeply in love with his new girlfriend. I should ask her to marry me. He thought.

"And last but not least, Dr. Joshua Davidson. You we're an enormous help. I release you."

Deep in the eastern Congo, Josh Davidson suddenly realized that this was what he was born to do. He would stay in Africa for the rest of his life. He'd never return to the US.

Kate picked up a rectangular crystal. Inside was a tiny figure of a man. "Coonan, your soul has sat on my desk for too many years now. It's time for you to burn in hell for eternity." She tapped the top of the crystal and the figure shot out the bottom and disappeared. She smiled as she heard a faint, high pitched scream.

She picked up a large crystal ball. Running her hand over it, she saw the images of four men inside of it. "Raglan, McCallister, Lockwood and Vulcan Simmons." She smiled as Lockwood shot Raglan in the chest, Raglan shot Simmons in the arms, legs and torso, then Simmons held McCallister under water until he drowned, and McCallister shot Lockwood. Then they repeated the killings over and over again.

"You all must be insane from the pain you're causing each other. I think we'll let this go for another century or so, then try something else. Is that okay with you boys?"

She picked up another crystal. The man inside was on his knees, then, very slowly, there was an explosion. Very, very slowly the man's body was ripped to pieces. Then he was reassembled and the explosion occurred again. And again. And again. And again. "Nice try, Cedric Marks." Kate said softly.

The last crystal held a single man. Unlike the others, he just stood there, not making a move. "Roy Montgomery. You were a terrible disappointment to me for hiding what you knew about my mom's murder, but you did save my life and I forgave you. I release you." The image of the man rose slowly to the top of the crystal and then was gone. "Goodbye, Roy." Kate said sadly.

She went to the computer and the screen lit up. There was Senator William Bracken, speaking to a group of donors and other movers and shakers. They were, for one reason or another, quite impressed with Bracken.

Kate smiled. "You have plans for me, don't you, Senator. Too bad I already have the souls of Simmons, Elena Markov and….Who else's soul do I have?" Kate laughed. "Why, I have your soul, too." She held up another crustal with a tiny black speck in it. "Not much of a soul, I'll admit. But it's your soul and now it's mine." Kate tapped the crystal and saw Bracken suddenly shiver. "I have plans for you, Bracken. First, life in prison. I think I can arrange for your time in prison to be a living hell. But you'll think you were in a theme park when your soul really reaches Hell."

Kate raised her arms and her apartment re-appeared. She called to her familiar, and a black cat appeared.

"What is it, sweetie?" The cat asked.

"I need to get back to Castle."

The cat's whiskers twitched and Kate found herself back at the loft. Walking into the bedroom, she saw Castle was waiting for her. "Just give me a few minutes in the bathroom and I'll be right out."

She quickly stripped and got into the shower. Castle was right. You really need to believe in magic to find it. And I found both love and magic when I met Castle.
