-Chapter 4-

-3rd Person POV-

8 moons have passed in the blink of an eye, and the realm was shaken by a great piece of news that the royal family tried in vain to suppress with all their might. Princess Gael had fallen for a troubadour and was expecting a bastard from this performer.

The king quickly confined Princess Gael, ordering her to drink moon tea. The Princess refused, but some time later, she miscarried and lost the baby, much to the king's relief, who hurried to have the maesters and septons testify to the Princess's purity.

Although the rumors were quickly stifled by the statements of the maesters and septons affirming that the princess remained pure, an incident reignited the gossip: the princess had allegedly committed suicide by throwing herself into Blackwater Bay.

-POV MC-

"Dracarys," said the King, commanding his dragon, Vermithor the 'Bronze Fury,' with a stern look to burn the funeral pyre of his youngest daughter.

I observed the funeral pyre and wondered what it felt like to outlive so many children. I couldn't truly understand this specific feeling, but if I ever had to lose people I care about, like my mother or great-grandmother, I would surely want to scream and shed all the tears in my body.

'Unlike them, who do not shed a tear,' I thought, watching the couple who had aged ten years in less than a week but remained strong and composed, their faces stern and gaze cold, yet dignified and unflappable.

I wanted to go to her, but I felt my mother squeeze my hand and shake her head no. I had seen my great-grandmother when she discovered Aunt Gael's body; she had completely broken down in tears and hadn't visited me since.

I just wanted to hug my great-grandmother and give her all the strength I could through that embrace. I know in the original, she died of grief, and I don't want that to happen again.

'But what can I do?' I thought, annoyed and frustrated by my powerlessness.

-2 weeks later-

-POV MC-

It only took me two weeks to devise a plan of action to not let my great-grandmother waste away, and it was going to start today.

Thanks to our daily walks, I knew the corridors of the Red Keep by heart and knew that the king and queen's apartments were only about a dozen meters from ours.

I waited for my mother to leave me with the nurse, which was very rare, and then pretended to fall asleep. The nurse sat down on a chair near the fire and started her usual sewing work.

I smiled once I had allocated all my attribute points and then very stealthily climbed the bars of my crib and BAM, I crashed to the ground.

I turned my gaze to the nurse, who had now turned her gaze towards me. We stayed like that, staring at each other for a few moments, and then I stood up at the speed of light and ran towards the door. I jumped and grabbed the handle, using my weight to open the door.

By some miracle, it worked. I mentally requested...ah yes, it was an advantage I received from my familiar bond. In addition to sharing a bond with Urrax like the other Targaryens, I could also mentally give him an order.

So, I mentally asked Urrax to scare the nurse, and then I ran, sprinting as fast as I could as a newborn down the corridor towards my great-grandmother's apartments.

-3rd Person POV-

"Look at him trying to lose us with those little legs," said the Knight of House Targaryen tasked with guarding Prince Aemon's and his mother's apartments.

"Be careful, you're talking about the Prince. He's trying to lose us with those royal little legs," said the other knight, just as amused by the little Prince's efforts while they set out to catch the toddling prince trying to keep his balance like a little duck.

-POV MC-

"Alright, little Prince, it's over. You need to rest," said a voice I recognized as Ser Willem's, one of our guards.

I felt myself lifted off the ground by the powerful arms of the nearly two-meter-tall knight who watched over us, and I unleashed my ultimate attack...I cried...actually, no, it would be more accurate to say I screamed with all my might so that I could be heard even at the other end of the castle.

I thrashed around, screaming until Jonquil Darke, the queen's sworn shield, faithfully guarding her room, stepped forward and asked, "What's happening?"

"My apologies, the prince is tired and inconsolable," said the nurse, who had caught up and managed to bypass Urrax, now growling menacingly at Ser Willem's feet.

I didn't stop wriggling and crying for him to let me walk on my own, but he didn't seem to notice, or maybe he just didn't care. I looked at Jonquil with pleading eyes, extending my hands towards her.

After a few moments, she said, "Wait."

I immediately calmed down, and she extended her arms to take me. I grabbed her neck as tightly as I could, and then she said, "Let's go while he's calm."

As soon as she said that, I immediately started screaming again, extending my arms towards my great-grandmother's room. She finally understood and said, "You want to see your great-grandmother?"

If I weren't supposed to be a kid who had used up all his tears and couldn't speak, I would have cried out in joy, shouting 'FINALLY DAMN IT,' but I just nodded furiously, and she turned around until we were in front of the Queen's apartments.

"You must be quiet and not disturb the queen," she said, furrowing her brows in an authoritative tone as a kind of warning.

I eagerly nodded again, which seemed to amuse her, and then she knocked, saying, "Your Highness, Aemon is here; he is inconsolable."

"Let him in," said a weak voice.

Entering, what I saw chilled me to the bone. My radiant, full-of-life great-grandmother had lost weight and looked weak at the bottom of her bed, her gaze lost.

I felt my eyes sting, and once Jonquil Darke left me on the bed, I quickly crawled towards my unrecognizable great-grandmother and burrowed into her neck to softly sob.

She wrapped her arms around me, not so large but gigantic to me, and gently caressed my back in circles.

"What's wrong, my little dragon?" she said softly.

I continued to cry, not knowing how to express my complaints. Since I had been reborn into this world, I had been constantly afraid of dying to the point of preventing me from living, and even if I was right, I shouldn't ignore the fact that Alysanne Targaryen won't see me wield a wooden sword. So I thought, 'To hell with it, what could happen? I'm already 1 and a half years old; I've already held back for too long.'

"I...I don't want you to die," I said, releasing the weight that had been suffocating my breath since Aunt Gael's funeral and all the apprehension I had at the thought of losing my second family as soon as it happened.
