Departure

The next day, Grim gathered all his friends and told them everything. They were all shocked and sorry for him. They also had different reactions when Grim told them about the Widow's Wail. Ethan was a bit scared about the whole thing, as any other human should be but it had to be done. If there was a chance they had to save Grim's Dad, they had to take it.

Like any other adventure or mission, they needed a plan. First of all they needed a map. The wierd merchant Ethan and Grim saw the other day said El-pundero knew where to find it. "So that's it then, we set out for Ironsbane tonight" said Grim. "We shouldn't let anyone know we're gone except our loved ones, so we should probably leave a not so they don't get too worried". The team was set, at exactly two hours past midnight, they headed out. Stealth was key, the path to the gate was a bit farther from the village. Pyre had to travel from the rooftops while watching for guards. Though it wasn't necessary, seeing as they've lived there their whole lives but nothing had to go wrong. Grim, unanimously dubbed team leader, lead the pack past the guards. Everything was going smoothly until they reached the stables to steal some horses. Horses just don't shuttup, do they?. The guards were alarmed and their cover was blown so they had to act fast. They all jumped on their horses. Max riding his while guiding one for Pyre, who was following from the rooftops and the guards were hot on their trail. Once outside, Pyre jumped over and landed on his horse. The guards were still chasing them as they rode through the woods. "Spread out" Grim said. "We'll meet back together at Naples".

The band disbanded, the guards did same. El's horse was fast and dark skinned so she easily lost them and blended into the night. Same with Brida's. Max's horse wasn't particularly speedy, his contributing to half of that. So he had to fight off some guards which really wasn't a problem. Ethan knew a shortcut through the woods, same as Grim but Grim wasn't using that path, he took the long road, riding down the main lane with his plain white horse in the dead of night. You could sight him from almost a mile away. Why he chose a white horse for this horse, no one knows, not even I but he definitely had more trouble getting the guards off his trail. Some guards took another path to ambush him and they did. They were too many of them to beat. Luckily for him, Pyre's path crossed his with some guards behind him but the two of them could take them all. Some of them at least, when they got too far, the guards gave up and went back to Valstock.

"You really need to change that horse Grim,if we're going to get any further in this mission".said Pyre. The others were waiting at Naples for them. "What took you guys so long?" asked Brida. "Grim's horse was too obvious at night" answered Pyre. " They're stables in Naples, you could change it there" said El. They traded the horse with a black one. "Sorry sir, do you by chance know how we can get to Ironsbane?" asked Grim to the stableman. "What would a bunch of teenagers like y'all be looking for in Ironsbane?"." Certainly none of your concern",said Pyre, muttering underneath his breath. "What'd you say?"."Apologies sir, our friend here has had quite a bad day", said Grim. "Well no need to take it out on me. Ironsbane isn't on the local map, the local map hasn't been updated for three years now, you'll need to buy one downtown near the deputy's office. Shouldn't cost you more than two pieces of gold". "Thank you sir", said Grim.
