DOWN THE HILL

"You're what?" Melanie yelled as she jerked forward, hearing the metallic handcuff rattle as she did.

"I'm selling you, I'm selling you to Mr Fernando" Amelia answered bluntly with a small shrug.

"You can't do that" Melanie blurted out as she started to feel nauseous.

"Oh, but I can, that's exactly what I'm going to do" Amelia cheesed.

"The huge auction is about to start and a little birdie told me he's out of products to sell, all I have to do is up the price on you and boom, you're sold just like that, who knows? He might decide to just keep you or harvest your organs" Amelia added nonchalantly.

"You're evil" Melanie whispered, her voice- a shadow of itself, as she stared at the woman in pure disbelief.

"Thank you for reminding me" Amelia smiled sarcastically.

"Now, if you'd excuse me I have a call to make" Amelia grinned before getting up and leaving the room,

The man in the suit followed her out and Melanie slumped into her chair with a frantic and fearful sigh.

Minutes lead to hours and time passed rather slowly.

The woman had rested her head on the table and slept off, hoping that this dream would have ended once she woke up,

Two burly men on suits and Amelia entered the room lead in by the shorter man who had handcuffed Melanie,

"Release her" Amelia commanded.

The man released her hand from the table.

"This is she, tell your boss it was nice doing business with him" Amelia smirked as one of the men easily lifted Melanie's passed out body over his shoulders.

The bed was rather bumpy, why was it moving?

Melanie moaned tiredly rolling from side to side, trying to make herself comfortable but there was only a cold hard feeling and the smell was familiar.

"Metal" Her subconscious mind whispered into her soul.

"This is definitely not my bed at home" Melanie muttered as she sat up, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.

She observed as light only came from the top left corner of the room where there was a little barred window too small for anyone to escape from.

"I can't believe I'm in a cell, who would've thought" Melanie complained as the 'cell' seemed to move.

"What the fuck is going on?" Melanie muttered, gripping two of the window bars.

She pulled herself upwards so she could see how wrong she was,

All she saw was the road, tarred black roads,

She was in a van in the middle of nowhere,

With nowhere to escape to.

Occasionally, she pulled herself up to see what was going on outside the vehicle.

She felt the van honk, and a few minutes later, the van was tapped twice by someone's hand before the vehicle started the engine again.

This was when she pulled herself up to see the surrounding.

She saw the van enter into the white surroundings of a huge garage.

When the vehicle was parked and the engine was turned off, she let herself down slowly before sitting on the floor.

The doors of the van opened and the light hit her eyes so bright that it felt like she had been living in darkness her whole life.

Once, she saw the size of the men coming to pick her, she didn't even bother struggling as she allowed the men to lift her up and carry her out of the van.

They led her to a door and walked her down the hallways with only the sounds of their legs echoing through the empty-looking facility.

They stopped at a door.

One of them leaned forward to open the door,

Then they pushed her into the room locking the door behind her.

"Hmmph, rude" Melanie scoffed wiping dirt of her t-shirt.

Someone cleared their throat,

She hadn't noticed he was there before,

Melanie looked up at the man who looked old enough to be her father sitting at a metal table,

"I'm starting to hate metal tables" Melanie mumbled.

"Have a seat" the man finally spoke.

"What if I don't want to?" Melanie questioned, folding her arms.

"Have a seat" the man repeated.

"Fine, but I'm not sitting because you asked me to, it's just because I feel like" Melanie muttered.

She heard the man chuckle humorously as she sat at the table.

"What is your name?" The man asked.

"What? Is this like an interrogation or something?" Melanie answered.

"What is your name?" He repeated,

"Are you a robot?" Melanie asked, eyeing him with obvious distaste.

"What is your name?" He repeated,

"Fine, it's Melanie" She answered rolling her eyes.

"Melanie what?" He asked,

"Hey, I need my lawyer" Melanie yelled.

"What's your full name?" He asked, totally ignoring her demand.

"If you don't get me my lawyer, I'm not saying a word" Melanie said with a huff, as she slouched in her seat.

"You look and act just like her" The man smiled fondly, as if remembering something or someone.

"Just like who, do you need mental help, cause that'll make the two of us" Melanie retorted.

The man only laughed a little,

"No, I don't" The man answered in an amused tone.

"Well, I guess you're lucky, cause I need to see my therapist" Melanie groaned in exasperation.

"Exactly like her" The man smiled, leaning forward and caressing her cheek,

Melanie's face scrunched up in disgust as she hit his hand away from her face.

"Don't you dare touch me" Melanie snapped.

"So what's your full name?" He asked.

"I don't know why you need it but it's Melanie Arya Parker, Arya with a y not an I" Melanie answered,

"You even share the same name" the man smiled.

"Look Mr?" Melanie asked.

"Sanchez" the man answered.

"Look, Mr Sanchez, what the hell are you talking about, I hope you're not comparing me to someone cause I hate being compared" Melanie said.

"I'll take that as a note" the man said.

"You better" Melanie scoffed.

"How old are you?" Mr Sanchez asked.

"23" Melanie answered,

"What's your date of birth?" He asked.

"I thought you were going to say I was the same age" Melanie responded in a mocking tone.

"Oh no, she's dead" The man answered sadly.

"Who was she to you?" Melanie asked as her features softened.

"My daughter" The man answered.

"Hey, let's make a deal, let me outta here and I become your daughter" Melanie grinned.

"Nice try, but it's not up to me, the least I can do is to watch out for you during your stay here" Mr Sanchez answered.

"So when we're you born?" He added.

"May 30" Melanie answered.

"She was born on the 25th" He chuckled bitterly,

"How did she die?" Melanie asked.

"Cancer" He whispered.

"I'm so sorry" Melanie sympathized.

"It's not your fault, don't apologize, she's in a better place now" The man shrugged.

"Are your parents still alive?" He asked.

"Nope, died in a crash when I was 4" Melanie shrugged.

"Any friends? Friends that might look for you? Call the cops?" He asked her,

Melanie paused staring at the table contemplating if she should tell the truth or not,

"Nope" She lied.

"Do you have any tattoos?" He asked,

"Yeah, a ying yang symbol, the size of a coin, just above my collarbone.

"How good are you at memorizing things?" He asked.

"Very good, I guess" Melanie answered.

"Your code name is 057-25B-NYC, never forget that" He ordered.

"Sure" Melanie shrugged,

"And your new name is Adelina Arya Costa, Arya with a y not an I" The man stated.

Melanie raised an eyebrow at him.

"Please tell me that's the name of your daughter" Melanie groaned in a frustrated voice.

"Yes" the man laughed at her facial expression.

"Yes, Adelina, it is".
