CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Lowenstein is stirring when we return. I take the time to change out of my torn clothes. They're so badly damaged that I have no choice but to discard them. Feeling annoyed, I throw them in the trash bin next to his house and glare at the older man. If I hadn't forced him to tell me what exactly Isabel was facing against, I might never have made it in time to save her.
Why is my dad even meeting a crazy person like this? He basically sent Isabel off to die without an ounce of remorse!
When Lowenstein lets out a snore, I kick him in the ribs, "Wake up, old man!"
"I'm not old!" He retorts, opening one eye to glare at me.
"Then stop pretending that you're sleeping and sit up!" I growl.
"You broke my pipe!" His upper lips curl in anger. "It was a gift from an old friend!"
"And you nearly sent my friend off to die," I retort. "We're pretty much even so. Sit up and talk to us, or I'll destroy your house."
