Magic

I woke up to a comfortable feeling this morning just like yesterday, feeling the warm embrace I snuggled closer, but when I began to feel the hot breaths on the back of my neck that only began to increase in both speed and heat, I escaped the blankets. Looking below me where I was laying prior, I saw Adrianna sitting there with a creepy smile on her face, staring at me. I swear every woman in this family is strange.

I began to repeat the daily ritual after Adrianna got out of bed, and we began another day, this time with a tour of the palace.

From the kitchens to the throne room, we explored every place in the castle extensively. We even visited every room that was occupied or otherwise.

"And finally, we have the royal library, we can do lots of useful things here, reading books, examining maps, doing some librarian roleplay."

Though I don't know what's useful about the last thing Adrianna said, or really want to pay attention to the last thing she said, this seemed the best place to learn even more. I wasn't a big reader in my last life, but I felt right now, that if I wanted the greatest chance of survival, I would have to obtain as much information as possible.

Once entering the library, the first thing I noticed was a large crystal ball. It was placed in the middle of the library inside a circular pillar type of object, though it's hard to describe, it could be compared to what holds a plastic replica of the earth, or a globe on earth.

Except instead of being a big earth it was just a large black pearl.

"Adrianna, what's that?"

I pointed to the first thing that grabbed my attention and asked, obviously it was the pearl.

"Oh, that's a magical aptitude tester darling, it will be able to test both your elements and mana pool. It's one of the most accurate and powerful magical aptitude testers on the planet."

"Would you like to try it" Adrianna follows up her answer with a question.

I will also choose to wisely ignore the little nickname she has created for me, I just assumed it was a child thing, similar to kids always playing house and having a selected role for the husband and wife.

Of course, I would like to try the orb thing! Does she even need to ask? It could tell me if I will be an all-powerful magician!

I bet since I'm a reincarnator I will be extremely talented! Or maybe the ball will snap in half due to my overwhelming power! I wonder if I will possess all the elements!

"Adrianna, what did the most powerful magician in the world get on their magical aptitude test?"

"She has two elements, they are earth and fire, and her mana pool size has reached a capacity of 92%"

"What do you mean 92%?" I ask her again.

"Everyone has a mana pool in their bodies that is a specific size. This mana pool can be filled with a certain amount of mana based on your talents, for example, some people have a high mana pool such as 75%, others have a low mana pool such as 25% or even 10%. For these people, they can only cast beginner spells in their designated element if they possess one. I should also mention that though 92% is incredibly rare and considered extravagantly high, it isn't the highest ever recorded."

"What's the highest recorded then?" my curiosity continues to peak at her leading answers.

"98% is the highest ever recorded, however, the person who possessed this mana pool had only one element and could never become as powerful as someone with two. It is said that for every element you control, your power level doubles. That's why someone with 3 elements will supposedly have the power of 4 mages at their same level, this obviously doesn't include skill or mana pool, just simple power."

"Alright, thank you, can I try it now, testing my magic?"

"Hehe, sadly no, you cant find out what elements you have until you turn 10 years old, however being royalty has its perks and we have a special potion that will inflict a dream on you, this dream will tell you what element or elements you posses"

"A potion? It has to be expensive?" I ask worriedly, currently, I feel nervous as if I'm being baited by a loan shark. I have no valuables on me, I am a slave after all, who would spend a powerful potion on a slave.

"It's extremely rare and expensive, and our family among the other royal families are the only known ones that have the recipes for these potions, however, I can give it to you, but on one condition"

I took a moment to think, from the books I have read, if I could tell what element or elements I have early on, I could begin training in them early by over 9 years, giving me a huge advantage that no one else will possess, besides maybe other royalty.

"Here I'll make the deal even sweeter, I will have professional trainers work with you in whatever your given element(s) is, that way training and learning will become even easier."

I swear this crazy woman can read my mind, I'm only worried about this so-called "condition".

I'll ask her, and if she says something along the lines of, I'll tell you once you take the potion, I won't agree, but otherwise, I probably will, as long as I'm not selling my life away.

I plan to escape from slavery one day, but If theirs a promise I made, will I really be able to break it, I have no idea. So I will have to be careful considering this "condition".

"What's the condition?"

"hmmm, what about this, it's simple. You have to promise that for the next 10 years you won't leave my side. Of course, I will have the trainers teach you as much as you want during this time"

I was stunned, 10 years, my childhood, it's a long time, but an insanely good deal, I'm not treated like a slave here, instead, it sounds like a freebie.

I would be sheltered, fed, trained, and all for the payment of simply existing in the castle. I don't know what could have been better than this, little did I know that Adrianna planned to have me wrapped around her finger in only 5 years.

"Alright, for the next ten years I will stay here, by your side, and in return, you will train me and let me found out my power and talent."

Following my declaration, a beaming smile appeared on Adrianna's face, for once, she didn't seem so creepy, I wonder if these ten years will be even better than I expect.

After we had come to that decision Adrianna pulled a contract from god knows where and placed it in front of me. It was glowing red and had an eerie feeling to it.

Surprisingly though I didn't even need to read it, as the details appeared in my head as If I had thoroughly memorized them already. After a quick check with my basic reading skills, I could also compare my new inputted knowledge, and what was written on the contract, I confirmed that everything I knew was accurate based on the contract in front of me.

"Just willingly place a drop of your blood on that paper, and a few drops of blood in this vial."

She said after putting a small glass vial in front of me. So my premonition wasn't wrong after seeing that red writing. This was a blood contract, something so powerful that whoever breaks the contract will become the other's slave for eternity, including the afterlife. There will be no reincarnation.

It was an extremely rare and powerful contract that would only be used in the most serious of situations, but from what I remember, they were extremely illegal and punishable by death if used.

I wonder how Adrianna got her hands on one.

Since there was no point in doubting her now, I followed her steps by willingly dropping a bit of blood on the contract and a few drops of my blood in the vial. I had no idea what the vial was for since I don't remember that being part of the contract, but I had read that for a blood contract to work the blood needed to be willingly placed by both parties, and both parties needed full knowledge of all aspects of what the contract entailed. I wasn't worried that she could do anything like force another contract on me using my blood.

After everything was over, Adrianna took me to a small secluded section of the library, she then pulled down on a specific book and the bookshelf began rotating 360 degrees, as we entered through the small doorway that was revealed. The secret doorway gave me deja vu of all the horror and mystery movies I saw in my past life.

Once we entered Adrianna seemed to place the vial full of my blood in a secure metal safe with over 20 locks after it had been sealed, now I'm really curious what that's for. After that, she covered my eyes.

"A woman needs her secrets, don't worry, I'll guide you to the potion"

Trusting her, in part due to the kindness she has shown so far, but more importantly that she also signed the blood contract. I let her guide me blindly.

After two minutes of walking, she finally uncovered my eyes and I took in my surroundings. A full white room with a single bed in the middle, I felt as if I had entered a doctor's office or a mental patient's room, but before I could follow that line of thought, she handed me a potion.

With full trust in the blood contract, I drank it, though I was extremely suspicious of where I was, especially after hearing several growls on my way here, sometimes ignorance is bliss. I wouldn't want to "see the wrong thing" and end up getting hurt, this was a secret room in the royal library after all.

After drinking the potion I began to feel extremely sleepy, my body was hit with a strong impulse to just collapse, as my body gave in and I opened my eyes, I saw Adrianna with a smile on her face, she placed me on the bed, and just looked at me, still holding the same smile as this morning, though I have already said it countless times, let me say it again, this girl is dangerous.
