Fear- Vampires

"No…No. It's impossible. They all were assassinated. It can't be possible." She murmured with anxiety.

She started becoming restless as anxiety kicked in her. She was so nervous about going outside and confirming her suspicion, but she knew, if she went out, she would only be a burden on them. She had no power to protect herself. The last thing she ever wanted to do was to implicate her friends.

The choice was hard to make, and Resel was turning mad with each passing second. A golden opportunity was there to solve the mystery of her life, but she was unaware of the consequences she might have to pay for it.

At last, she made up her mind to come out and confirm her suspicion. Nothing was more important than the lives of those three. She quickly came outside the carriage.

The moment she stepped outside, she was attacked by one of the Thugs.

GWAAAAAH!

A corpse-like man pinned her to the door of the carriage. His eyes were hollow with intense dark circles. Cracked-up lips and broken skin confirmed her suspicion. Resel was horrified. She froze on the spot as her mind stopped working. The man was going to attack her, but Rune rushed to her aid and pushed him away.

Resel fell on his chest. There was fear in his eyes. "Are you okay? Why did you come out? Quickly go inside the carriage. There is something wrong with these guys. No matter how much we beat them or slash them, they just won't die." Rune explained.

Camy, who was still in Rune's arms, looked up to meet his gaze. Tears started coming out of her eyes.

Rune was perplexed. He didn't know why she started crying. Was it fear? It may be, but he was in a tight spot. He can't comfort her and leave her sister in the care of Vladis. In the end, Camy was her little sister. He lovingly patterns Resel's head. "Don't be afraid. I am here and will protect you no matter what. For the time being, just go and wait inside the carriage."

Rune's soft words eased her anxiety. She tightly gripped Rune's sleeves as he uttered, "They are not humans but Vampires. They are night creatures and won't die unless you stab their core which is placed inside their human heart." She almost cried after she finished her sentence. Her knees turned to jelly, and if not for Rune's support, she would have hit the ground.

Rune froze.

It was not like he didn't know what vampires were but the fact that it was brought up suddenly made him lost. He didn't want to believe what he heard, but after looking at the crying face of Resel, he knew he heard right.

They all look different because they are different. Rune quickly turned around to warn Camy, alas. He was late.

Aaaaaah

He heard the loud shriek of Camy. Vladis, who was fighting with the vampires, froze when he heard Camy scream. He saw Camy bitten on her wrist by one of the vampires. Rune panicked and dashed towards Camy, but Vladis was one step ahead. He quickly slashed that Thug and took Camy in his embrace.

"Camy. Camy. Open your eyes, dammit. Camy," Vladis started shouting but to no avail. Camy fainted on the spot.

Resel too saw it. She bit her tongue to stop making any sound and sued her hands to muffle her sobbings. Rune felt his world crumbling. Camy was his little sister, his sweetie. He failed to protect his sweetie. He failed at being his big brother. Fortunately, Resel still had some sense left, she quickly dashed towards Rune and checked Camy's pulse.

"She is still alive. We need to take her to see a physician, or else her conditions might worsen. Sir Vladis, can you take Camy inside the carriage?" She requested.

Without wasting another second, Vladis carried Camy in a princess style inside the carriage.

Resel asked him to hand over his dagger to her, which he did. After Vladis was at a distance, Resel patted Rune's cheek. "Wake up from the daze, or else Camy would die for sure."

The moment she said this, Rune came out of his daze.

"The hell are you saying.." He roared.

Resel didn't make a fuss of his tone and handed him Vladis dagger. "I know I am bad at using arms and will only hinder you if I stay here, but If we leave these vampires here, they will kill innocent citizens. Rune, remember to stab their core or else they won't die" She quickly made a run for the carriage after she was done talking.

Rune was now standing alone. He took a deep breath and managed to pull him together. It was a piece of cake for him, and he quickly stabbed the cores of every single vampire present there. When he was finished with his massacre, he rushed into the carriage and ran towards the Royal infirmary.

They were at the gate of the infirmary when they noticed Arthur standing there. To be honest, when Arthur received the information, he predicted someone to get injured, but he never imagined it to be her.

He was confused about how Camy ended up the hit. The plan earlier was for Vladis to join Resel and Rune. How come Camy joined them. However, the situation was dire, and Arthur didn't have the time to ask questions. He ordered the royal doctor to take care of Camy. A stretcher was brought, and Camy was laid on it. Soon several women in white gowns carried her inside a spacious room. Camy's treatment started.
