Vienna decided to spend her Saturday with Phina and Camy. They hadn't been in physical contact for a while so they decided to spend the whole day together.
As usual Vee was the first to arrive at the diner. She chose a booth that sat at the end of the restaurant. It was next to the huge glass windows that overviewed the streets of Phoenix.
She didn't wait for long before Phina and Camy rushed over to her.
"Are we late?" Phina panted.
"Not really. Did you run here?"
"Basically. You could guess whose fault it was" Phina sat down with a sigh.
"Don't you dare call me" Camy retorted.
"I didn't say anything. But you know who it is" Phina whispered the last part to Vee and gave Camy a smug look.
"Haha have your fun while you can. Wait till I tell Vee about you and Kevin"
Silence...
Vee looked at the two girls, waiting for one to speak up. Phina was glaring at Camy while Camy pretended to be occupied with her phone.
"Who's Kevin?" She looked on each of her sides at them.
The waiter came and Vee placed their order but the girls were still quiet. Was Phina keeping secrets from her? Did she only trust Camy now because of what happened with Leon?
"Phina?"
"He's no one Vee" Phina managed to say but Vee saw the blush on her face.
Oh my god, Phina likes someone.
'Yay, she's no longer into Leon!' her subconscious rejoiced.
"Who is he?" Vee asked anxiously.
Phina bowed her head shyly. 'Oh my, she must really like him', Vee thought.
"He's a cute regular at Phina's uncle's bakery. I don't know if he comes for the sweets or maybe Phina here is giving him something sweeter" Camy spoke up.
"Cam!" Phina yelled in embarrassment.
"And how come I'm just knowing this now?" Vee asked. Their order came and she bit into her burger as she thought of the possibility that maybe Phina didn't consider her a friend again. She seemed to only tell Camy things about herself lately. Was it really because of Leon?
"Trust me I didn't know till last night when I caught them at each other's clothes in her uncle's kitchen" Camy laughed out and Phina's head fell on the table with a small thud.
Vee's eyes widened in shock but she couldn't help laughing. Phina always kept her dating life on a lowkey and that was why she thought Phina only trusted Camy now, since it was only her who knew about this Kevin-guy. But hearing the words Camy spoke, she couldn't stop laughing. Phina had been caught red handed.
"Aw did Camy ruin you guys' moment?" She asked with a laugh.
"I've never seen Phina kiss someone before. She was always so secretive. You should teach us how to kiss like that Phina" Camy teased.
"Okay you guys stop. You're so disgusting"
"But seriously who's Kevin?" Vee asked.
"We met a couple times whenever he comes to the bakery but nothing happened. Yesterday was the first time we kissed" Phina explained glaring at Camy.
"But you like him" Camy teased, not minding the look she was getting from Phina.
"Yes" Phina confessed.
Vee didn't know why but she squealed internally in joy. Was her subconscious right? Was she happy that Phina wasn't into Leon again?
They had a chat while eating and Vee told them about Easton. It had skipped her mind at Camy's party so she filled them in on everything that happened before then.
They were attentive as they listened to her but Camy flared up when Vee mentioned that Easton visited her office. "Oh he did not!"
"He did"
"That jerk!"
"He literally created a whole scene at the office. And my boss eavesdropped on us"
"Ooh you haven't told us about your boss. Are you guys seeing each other or..." Phina paused.
Vee laughed. If only they knew how bigger of a jerk Blake was.
"I'm moving out with Leon soon" she changed the topic.
"I knew you guys were dating" Phina said but she didn't sound sad like Vee expected.
"We're not"
'But you wished you were' her subconscious said. Vee could imagine her on a chair, holding a bowl of grapes and smirking at her.
"But you wished you were" Camy smirked. Vee shivered at how her thoughts and Camy's were alike.
"You guys are going to be all alone. This is a sign Vee" Phina gushed and she and Camy nodded at each other in agreement. Then they started talking about the possible things Vee could do with Leon.
Vienna allowed them to be occupied with their thoughts. As much as she wanted it to be true, she knew nothing would ever happen between her and Leon. Camy paid for their food after they were done and they took a stroll. It was getting hotter outside so Camy thought it was best they drove to her house.
"Flower" Phina called as they walked to Camy's car.
Vee and Camy turned to her, confused.
She directed her head at an approaching figure and they used their eyes to follow where she was directing at. It was Easton.
"Vee we need to talk" Easton held out a rose to her.
"Aw this is so cute" Camy said. "We'll give you guys a moment" she dragged Phina along with her as they left.
Vienna stared at her friends. She thought Camy was rooting for Leon. Wasn't she the one who called Easton a jerk just minutes ago? So what was this now?
"Vienna-"
"I can't do this Easton" she interrupted.
"Just hear me out"
She kept quiet, waiting for him to speak. The sun was getting hotter against her skin and she just wanted him to be done so she could enter into an air-conditioned car.
"I was mistaken. Riley...she deceived me. I promise Vee, I never loved her. I realized my mistake and that's why I'm coming to you now. Please?"
Vee bit back a smile. After hearing from Leon that Riley had dumped Easton, and now he was saying that he was the one that left her?
"Besides we haven't broken up yet" Easton said proudly.
'Sucked up rich snotty brat!'
Vee couldn't believe what she was hearing. Easton was really impossible. After all he had done he still had the guts to spit out rubbish.
"So cheating on me is not enough explanation that we've broken up. Okay dear Easton West, I didn't break up with you before, so how about I do it now. We are done" she turned to leave but Easton held her back.
"Alright I'm sorry. Let's start afresh. Friends?" He held out the rose to her again.
She turned and looked at Camy's car. Camy and Phina immediately turned their faces away from her, pretending that they weren't listening on she and Easton's conversation. They hadn't even entered the car yet. She sighed and turned back to Easton.
"Sure why not" taking the rose, she walked away.
.
Everything was beginning to go well for Vienna. She felt like she had received a breath of fresh air after Leon suggested both of them moving out. She wasn't out of her parents house yet but she felt free, as if she was. Leon had found some suitable apartments but she agreed not to see them till the day they moved. She wanted to be surprised. The only thing in the way of her all-round happiness was work. She didn't enjoy working because Blake was an ass to her most times. So she concluded that if she wanted to be 100% happy, then she had to get on Blake's good side.
They were having a conference meeting with potential clients that Monday afternoon so she thought to impress him with the little she had learnt on advertising, and marketing a book. She was his assistant so she thought if she showed him that she had learnt something outside just reading and correcting manuscripts, then maybe he would start to treat her like she actually existed.
They arrived at the meeting centre. It was WESTS' HOTEL. Vee sighed as she remembered the last time she was here; Leon and Riley, Easton, and the embarrassment. She sighed and followed Blake into the elevator.
"I have some ideas on a great marketing strategy that could really impress the clients"
Blake turned sharply at her before he looked back at the elevator door. "And what do you know about marketing Vienna? Listen, your job is to stay by my side through out the meeting and present files when needed. You don't speak unless spoken too, got it?"
Vee sighed. One thing Blake didn't know was that she was stubborn as hell. Whether he liked it or not, she was going to impress him. She glared at him through the side of her eyes and moved out immediately the doors opened.
The meeting had already started when they entered the hall. Vee could feel Blake silently curse as they sat down at the two empty seats. Ray was also present in the room, sitting next to a young lady.
The meeting wasn't as boring as Vee expected. She understood the demands of the client but as soon as she wanted to speak, Blake placed his hand on her arm, holding her down. She turned to him with a questioning look.
"I don't need your computer nerdy stuff right now" Blake said sternly, not glancing at her.
The name brought back memories of her childhood. In school, she had been the center of attraction to most guys, but she was also a smarty pants and loved computers. So the jealous girls then had called her nerdy and a freak, all to bring down her self esteem. It had been so bad for her that most times she hung out with the guys, but that only made the girls bully her more. That was why Leon decided to be a nerd with her; he tried to sweeten the name by calling her a computer genius and that had worked, the girls eventually stopped calling her names when they noticed Leon was a 'nerd' too. But after Leon graduated, the names continued so she gave up on her computer.
But how did Blake know? Had Leon told him? She stood up abruptly and eyes shifted to her. Everyone seemed to be cursing her in their thoughts for interrupt the meeting but they still continued.
"What are you doing?" Blake asked, with gritted teeth. He was silently apologizing to the eyes that were glancing at her every second.
"I want to use the bathroom." She left without waiting for his reply.
Blake tried to stop her but she was in a haste. He sighed and focused his attention back on the meeting.
Vienna found herself walking to the restaurant. She wanted a glass of wine to clear her head. But then she remembered that she needed to save for her apartment. She turned around with a sigh to head back to the hall but she bumped into someone, making the person drop his car keys in the process.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry" she apologized as she picked up the person's keys. 'I remember this key' she thought.
"Hi Vienna" a deep voice called and a hand was stretched out before her.
