His cold demeanor was not cold enough to make her frozen. She was in control and she was not scared as she continued to advance with the little soft touches of her fingers as she gave him encouraging words with every movement he made.
Her boss had warned her about doing that. Most new clients always choose the older therapists as they believed they were more patient but those she helped always praised her patience.
When she was with her clients, their age difference was not her concern as she pushed them in persuasive unoffensive ways to put in more effort as well as give them all the support they need.
She had to be motivated in a wise manner that will not affront her clients.
She was good at saying the right things as though she knew what was on the patient and that was the reason her boss trusted her to handle VIP clients like Mr. Lu.
Her beauty and friendliness have always been her major tools when dealing with both male and female clients before they take notice of her efficiency.
They always have comments like, "she is so nice and easy to get along with", "her smile is so heartwarming like she understands what I am going through", "she knows what to say at the right time", and "she is slim and fragile-looking but she is strong" along with many others.
Her boss warned her to tone it down as much as she could because this boss did not need her motivation and she could only offend him with it.
Her boss was wrong because he just asked for her approval.
Humans always seek approval for what they do both consciously and unconsciously that is most likely why they write examinations.
Even this cold boss wanted her approval. She smiled when he winced because of a movement of his hand.
Not the type of smile that makes you feel like someone is mocking and will certainly give a strong desire to hit the person's head but a smile that she most likely gave a client to earn one of those above-mentioned comments.
He subconsciously lifted the corners of his lips looking into her brown eyes. Her eyes were fixed on his fingers but would occasionally look into his eyes with pure concern masked in professionalism.
She raised her head and his smile disappeared. He did not even realize that he just smiled but it was too precious to miss Lin Jing's sharp eyes.
"How long do you think it will take for me to be able to use this hand as well as before?" he asked her after a few minutes of silence.
"A couple of weeks but it will require practice for you to be able to do other things like playing games and typing," she replied to him sincerely.
The speed of his recovery was fast and she did not understand why he was so obsessed with his right hand when he was ambidextrous.
That was not for her to think of as she focused on helping him while letting her mind branch to different thoughts and using her peripheral to witness those little movements.
No more words as a comfortable silence enveloped them. She was shocked by how well his session was that she almost did not notice the time was up until her phone beeped.
She looked at her wristwatch before looking at the handsome man.
"I must say that you are worthy of being called the best after your boss," he commented to her sincerely.
She smiled and bowed. "Thank you. You could tell my boss that so that I could get a promotion soon," she told him sincerely with a smile as she met his gaze.
He narrowed his eyes. He smiled in return as the brightness of her eyes was too obvious and contagious to ignore.
This was not the first time she was getting smiles from her clients or the first time she was getting such praises but this was the first time she wanted to stand on the rooftop and scream hurray.
He was smiling, this time, his smile did not disappear but rather broadened as he stood up. "Our time has been exhausted, right?" he asked her without breaking eye contact.
Was this what they called butterflies in the stomach? Was she falling in love with him?
For the first time in her life, she looked away from someone's gaze subconsciously. "I will see you out," she spoke and began walking to the door.
The hotness of her face made her feel more embarrassed because she was blushing and that should not be.
The man turned after walking out of the door and looked at her for a few seconds before walking away after she bowed.
She closed the door of the office and pressed her back against the wall.
"You are not allowed to fall in love," she warned herself verbally as she walked to the work desk and sat down behind it.
*********
"How was today's session?" his secretary asked when he sat down in the backseat of his car.
"I will be able to make normal use of my hand in two weeks," Lu Tian replied naturally as the car began to move.
Su Jie smiled as it took him so much effort not to squeal in excitement. If anyone was enjoying this show, it was him. He was most likely enjoying it more than those involved.
Lu Tian remembered her smile and unknown to him, his lips had curved to form a subtle smile but that did not miss the hawk-like eyes of his secretary.
Like a fangirl watching a concert online in class, Su Jie was dying in silence as he could not scream out his excitement.
His boss smiled, not the type of smile he wears when exceptionally mandatory but a natural happy smile.
Who does not believe in love at first? Keep it away from Su Jie or he would not let you off the hook until you believe.
"She has to be a witch," he ended with such a conclusion after he replayed all the instances when his boss had ignored by beautiful women.
