Chapter 33- The Long Awaited Answers

Ivar scoffed at her claim of this dungeon being some kind of deity's domain, he walked over and sat on one of the pieces of the destroyed entryway.

It was obvious that my partner was going to take everything this woman said with a grain of salt after her first bold claim.

I myself was stuck on the vague memory of the last dream I had before I entered this tower. A woman adorned in black flames kissed my cheek thus shocking me awake in the armory. It was a mystical experience that I merely brushed off as an odd dream, but the array of visions I had before always stayed in the back of my mind. Surely it was merely a dream, well hopefully.

"I guess an introduction is long overdue, welcome to wonderous world of Asterious" The vampire woman said with an odd bit of theatrics that just felt wrong.

"And as to where we are specifically...…. What is the crux of this tower?" The Vampire fished out information but unluckily I had no clue what she was talking about. Seemingly understanding the problem she reiterated. "The thing that focuses your power, the point of convergence. Some type of symbol or element, you should have long figured that much out." She trailed off as I finally understood her question.

Looking to Ivar and receiving a nod I shrugged and took a handful of arrows from the quiver on my back. The lady twitched slightly but made no move to stop me as I broke the bundle of arrows and tossed them into a pile, A twitch of my right arm later and the mortal arc was formed thanks to my gauntlet.

Why I simply didn't just tell her? Two simple reasons.

The vampire flinched hard as she noticed my gauntlet's ability to instantly fire a three-foot wide fireball. A small show of arms if you will, hopefully it will make her think twice about potentially attacking us once our exchange of information ends. But also confirming one of her weaknesses, something I already informed my partner of.

I subtly looked at Ivar and confirmed it with a subtle nod. I knew he would stealthily switch out his Warhammer for the burned Scimitar the moment the vampire took her eyes off of him.

And the other reason? I sat in front of the fire as I finally answered the patient woman.

"I call it the mortal arc, might be a bit pretentious but I've come to like it." I said with a smirk as the woman looked at me with slightly narrowed eyes, not that I cared, she asked after all.

The tendons in my appendages grew taunts while even my hands began to slightly spasm, though I tried my best to keep my changes under the surfaces I was sure she caught them. Though I cared little at this point.

"Now that you have finished empowering yourself... A fire…. No that isn't all there is to it" I smiled slightly at her jab but tilted my head in confusion as the woman rambled on.

Slowly she got up from her seat and approached the fire, not expecting an attack I relented and slowly backed away.

As she approached the fire she kept looking slightly more haggard and once she was at arm's length she broke out into a sweat. But I did take notice that her own status scroll appeared, unluckily I wasn't at the right angle. Though I did notice Ivar to my left looking directly at it, unashamedly I might add. When he didn't look surprised or scared by what he saw I let out a sigh of relief.

"Fuck ... If I make it out of here I'm going to kill him. Repercussions be damned…." The woman trailed off as she seemed to forget Ivar and I were here and began going over her own thoughts of revenge and the like. Though why the mortal arc made her react like that I'd just have to ask.

"So a verdict miss scary vampire lady?" I asked with an uncaring smirk as Ivar's reaction made me lose most of my worry, I always hated tip-toeing around volatile situations anyway.

"My name is Seline Seraphim food" I nodded at that fact though being addressed as cattle did hurt my pride slightly I chuckled and responded.

"Ace Lothbrook and that is my partner Ivar. Now could we continue?" I asked as it seemed the lady had finally gotten her mind together. With a scoff, she used whatever movement ability she possessed to retake her former seat on the coffin.

"Hellio Von Hyperius" She said after a moment of contemplation.

"And that is?" I asked as I assumed that was a name.

"A legendary hero, from the time of the Demonic Convergence." She said and I guess if I was a person from this world I'd be shocked or interested but to people like Ivar and me? Just more gibberish we didn't understand.

"Well, I guess that wouldn't mean much to people like.... What did you call it? Ignorant farmers or amnesiacs?"She said with a small tilt of her head that either she found it amusing or that I was a horrible liar. Though I had never claimed those backgrounds, I did imply something of the sort.
