Chapter 141

"How are you so sure about that?" I ask her why she quirks an eyebrow up at me.

"Someone who wanted to exploit Adrian for his inheritance and play on his naievity would not act the way you do. You do not realise, but you give him a lot of confidence. You give him a lot of hope and faith in himself and i seriously thank you for that. Adrian has never been as confident in himself as he is now, and I'm his cousin so I know all this".

I realise something here, they had all been watching each other, they had all been any enemies, or friends, or allies, at one point but now they are truly family, they are truly the family that this place is supposed to represent, something which has been twisted by the selfish needs of others. I'm happy at her words.

A horn blows now and I can see some people in the crowd visibly shift.

"What do those horns mean?" I ask and both of them shrug their shoulders.

"Only those who dabble with the court of horns should know exactly what it means".

This scares me for some reason though, it scares me for some reason because I cannot even discern where the sound is coming from.

It wasn't like the first time when we were being ushered to the training fields, that sound, that tune was a little bit different, it was a little bit different from the one that I was hearing now and I try to mentally mark it.

I would like to keep track of exactly how much they were blowing the horns in the first place.

"Another fight is about to start" Arden says and we move over to the border.

Who ever marked out the borders of the fighting rings did a really good job because there are fences constructed everywhere, it would keep the area for the fights literally free of people but yet everyone else has to crowd around the fences to get a good view of what is happening inside

I can still see the birds that look bettings go on. It has taken on something of an even more public aspect now as some people are setting up booths to place bets in.

Okay this is decidedly funny to me, these little kids who were acting supreme and dignified just a few minutes ago, theyare acting like literal touts now.

I mean betting is something that you would see on the streets not in such a magnificent place like this.

I look at the building, the building which has inspired so much fear and awe in me at this point and i marvel at it.

Whoever had thought to build something like this sure had a lot of money because it is surprising.

"Who even built this place?" I ask and Arden and Alice shoot each other a really sad and nervous look, they do not give me an answer and I find that weird.

I focus back on the field
