I looked outside my window at nothing in particular. I looked back at Alex who was murmuring some words in his sleep. 

This was the first time he was sleeping this late. He turned and rolled in bed without waking and I looked back outside. 

Now, my look darted to the garden and a thought of my dad and what he said played again in my head like a movie. 

We haven't seen each other or crossed paths since two days ago. My mum knew something was going on but thought it was probably as a result of the stress we passed through. 

I folded my arms across my chest as I sighed deeply again, thinking as far as what would have happened if my dad hadn't made that suggestion. Would my life have been a little better than this? Would my life have been a little more stress-free than this? I shut my eyes and sighed again.
