Caroline

Everything seems to be shattering and all I have and that I have built seems to be falling apart. 

I stared hard at the pregnancy test strip in my hand and the thought of having a living being live inside of me did not only create fear in me but also made me hate myself for letting this happen. 

I hurried to the door, turning the keys to lock and then, I heard Richard trying to force the door open as he rattled the door knob. 

"Hey, mama! What's going on?" he asked and I could hear the concern and worry in his voice. 

"Huhmm... Nothing. I just need to dab my body clean," I managed to say even though I could feel my voice fluttering. 

"That's taking a whole year to accomplish, don't you think, mama?" he asked as he rattled the doorknob still. "And why is the door locked?" he was still struggling with the door and I knew I needed to join him soon. 

"I needed to check something. Babe, I'm coming!"

"I'm waiting!"
