CHAPTER 23

Jenna finally recovered after nearly a week of treatment.

According to the healer, she should refrain from hunting for a few more days, so they waited for a couple more days.

Jenna felt unwell after learning about what had happened after she fainted.

Although she had only hunted with Adam and Arnold for a short time, she had already begun to consider them true teammates.

So knowing that none of them survived the lizard's attack left her feeling depressed for a while.

She was grateful to still be alive and wanted to thank the boy named Reily who had saved them from the monster.

She was surprised to learn how the boy had managed to pit an entire group of Thorkas against the lizard of Earth grade E and had succeeded in getting her and Clarisse out of there.

She wanted to meet him and properly thank him, but she didn't know how to meet him.

According to what she had heard from Clarisse, they could meet him at the Adventurer's Guild.

Today, Clarisse and Jenna had decided to go to the guild to pick up some missions to avoid being demoted.

Being both two-star adventurers, they couldn't stay inactive for long, and although they had a good reason to do so, they couldn't remain still after all, they had to earn.

After Jenna woke up, she agreed with Clarisse and they decided to give the savings they had to the families of their deceased companions.

Adam had lost, according to what they had heard, the last member of his family last year.

Arnold, on the other hand, had a wife and a son no older than 11, so they gave the money to his family.

It wasn't an easy task to break the news of his death to his wife, but both had strengthened their hearts, knowing that situations like these were very common in the world of adventurers.

Just as both were heading towards the mission board, Clarisse noticed a gaze directed at them.

She looked in the direction from which it came, and saw the person who had saved them.

Reily greeted her, and seeing him Clarisse smiled and moved to approach him.

Jenna, who was following her friend, seeing her change direction, hurried to ask her.

"Hey, where are you going? The board isn't that way," she said as she hurried to follow her.

After a few meters, they reached Reily, and seeing her friend stop next to this person and greet him, Jenna couldn't help but think.

'could it be him? '

as if to confirm her suspicion, Clarisse turned to her.

"This is Reily, the person who saved us that day," she said as she introduced the boy.

Jenna stood still for a moment.

The person in front of her was clearly younger than her, and if that wasn't enough, she could tell the boy was a rank F, most likely having recently awakened.

She couldn't understand how this person had managed to pit such a large group of Thorkas against that E-Rank monster.

Even more so, because that group had an F rank leading them.

Although she had her doubts, she trusted her friend enough to know that she wouldn't lie to her.

'There's no reason for her to lie about something like this.'

She stepped forward and raised her hand for a handshake as she introduced herself.

"Pleased to meet you, I'm Jenna,"

"I heard from my friend that it was you who helped us then. Thank you, I wouldn't be alive today if it weren't for you. If you ever need help with anything in the future, don't hesitate to ask for our help," she said sincerely.

She might have doubts, but she trusted her friend enough, so she thanked the boy in front of her heartily.

Reily, hearing the woman, couldn't help but have a good impression of her.

He wasn't sure if the woman would believe that he had saved them, because he understood the absurdity of the matter, but first of all he hadn't done it to receive their gratitude, so it would be fine either way.

But hearing the archer girl, he could tell that although she was a little uncertain, she was sincere with her words.

He returned the greeting and said

"I'm Reily, pleased to meet you Jenna. There's no need to thank me. It was pure coincidence that I stumbled upon you, and it wasn't really a bother to help you,"

Jenna nodded at his statement and said

"I understand, but still if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask for my help."

Reily thought it was becoming embarrassing to go on with this, so he decided to end it for now.

"I understand, I'll remember to do that."

At that moment, Clarisse, who was standing aside, asked Reily.

"Are you here at the guild for a mission too?"

Reily nodded.

"Yes, I just registered a mission. I was just going to complete it."

Clarisse, upon hearing this, thought, and then said.

"Oh, why don't we form a team and go on a mission together?" she said excitedly.

Reily didn't know how to respond.

He intended to test himself against the BloodFang, so he couldn't go hunting with them as a team.

He wanted to refuse, but he didn't know how to do it, after all he had agreed to hunt with her that one time.

Seeing that Reily didn't respond, Clarisse said:

"If you're busy now, we can do it another time," she said with a somewhat discouraged voice.

Reily thought for a moment.

The mission had been posted yesterday, and it didn't really have a time limit, so he could afford to ignore it for now.

'I could postpone the hunt until later, or at most it should be fine even tomorrow.'

After reflecting on it for a moment, he replied.

"I think I can spare some time for today. Did you already have any particular mission in mind?"

Clarisse, hearing him, rejoiced, and said excitedly.

"Great. Let's go find a suitable mission for us. I haven't had a chance to do missions lately, so I should first see what's available."

Jenna initially wanted to stop her friend, because she didn't want to bother Reily, but seeing that he had agreed, she decided not to say anything.

And with that, the group moved to go to the mission board.
