In a realm of four kingdoms, two were on the verge of war. Prince Eirik, the fourth prince of Valeidio, a Ferre whose beauty could rival the gods, was thrust into a marriage alliance with Prince Kaelix, the strong and proud heir of Zephyros. Both princes were determined to fight against the fate that had been forced on them. Eirik resented being used as a pawn, while Kaelix saw the alliance as a threat to his freedom. As they clashed in a battle of wills, their encounters became a constant push and pull of resistance and pride. But as the pressures of duty mounted, the lines between obligation and desire began to blur. In their struggle against their forced union, they found themselves drawn toward each other in ways they never expected. Would their bond become a weapon against the war or would their kingdoms' rivalries destroy any chance of love before it could take root? --- Warning: This book contains mature themes. The forest seemed alive with shadows, the gnarled branches clawing at the sky like skeletal fingers. Carl led Amelia deeper into the dense undergrowth, his steps purposeful but frantic. Each crack of a twig beneath their feet sent her heart racing. The faint glow of torchlight behind them served as a grim reminder, they were being hunted.
Amelia stumbled, her dress catching on a thorny bush. "Wait!" she hissed, yanking her skirt free. "I can't keep up if you keep dragging me like this."
Carl turned, his face twisted in frustration. "We don't have time for your complaints. Move faster, or they'll catch us both!"
"Maybe you should've thought about that before forcing me to come with you," she shot back, her voice trembling.
Carl's jaw tightened, but he didn't respond. Instead, he grabbed her wrist again, pulling her forward. "We'll reach the old riverbed soon. The guards won't know where to look after that."
