A Rich Man's Lover

This is a story about an open-relationship between an unwilling prostitute and a married man. He was in an open marriage, but she's not the wife. To be one of the many partners of a man committed to another woman was her role. She wanted to hide her feelings that were starting to grow, her longing to be by his side, and lastly herself, by virtue of an open relationship. However, it was all for naught. When everything came to light, she desired to end the relationship they had. Her last words echoed through his mind as she bid him farewell through her mournful eyes. "If only I hadn't met you, I wouldn't be hurting this badly."

Smoothly was how the trip went by for the lady, who had somehow fallen into a light sleep. The concrete roadways traversed by the vehicle were devoid of deterrents, effectively allaying her false vigour as if it was rocking a baby to sleep.

Syn readily fell into the temptations of slumber. Time granted her a nigh of a quarter of rest before her arrival at the main entrance of Baumhauer Medical Hospital.

Unbeknownst to the driver, the lady had already awakened. He gave her a tap on the shoulder and lightly shook it.

"Miss, we're here."

Syn kept her eyes tightly shut, showing no other response. It was not done out of discourteousness, but for the reason that her migraine had acted up all of a sudden. It was to an unbearable extent that she couldn't tolerate.

Annoyance was about to surface on the driver's countenance when he noticed Syn's complexion turning even more pallid.

Beads of sweat now began to trail down her forehead, visibly imitating the outset of rain in the. Her breathing increasingly grew to a hasty and shallow one. Her hands were loosely sprawled on top of her legs, clearly having no strength in them.

The man immediately removed his hand that was on shoulder, afraid of making her condition worse.

"Miss! What's wron' wid'ya?!"

He was flustered, rightfully so, of what was happening inside his car. For the moment, he ignored his perturbed nerves and decided to get help.

Stumbling on his way out, he went running towards the security station located by the left side of the automatic main doors.

Regrettably for him, an unappreciated thirty-meter tiled foyer should be traversed to reach the entrance - mainly because the taxi driver took the route for the outer drop-off area.

He kept on shouting relentlessly, unstoppable even though he knew that he was within the earshot of the guards.

"Hey! Hey! Help! There's sumtin' wron' with that woman!"

One of the guards on duty approached the man who was frantically pointing at the only taxi in the driveway. It was a good thing that the guard did not mistake the driver for a madman.

The guard quickly noticed that there was a woman inside the taxi. That's how he knew that the screaming man was asking for help.

"Calm down, sir. Is the patient the one inside the taxi?"

"Yes, yes!"

When he heard the agreement, the guard pressed the button of the communicating device attached to the collar of his shirt.

"Charlie 4, code 01, requesting for the medical dispatch team at the main entrance as soon as possible."

While the guard in question was preoccupied, another one approached the taxi driver who was trying to relax by pacing back and forth.

"Sir, will it be fine if you move your taxi so it won't block the two lanes? The traffic isn't quite moving. Our other visitors might be inconvenienced. You can reposition it closer to the centre pavement, directly in front of this entrance, so the medical team will be able to retrieve the patient more promptly."

"I'll go, but make it fast, 'aight! That woman is havin' difficulty in breathin' and sweatin' buckets!"

After saying his piece, the driver dashed back to his taxi and did as he was told. Meanwhile, the guard left standing alone contemplated the information he was given. He turned to his back to let his colleague know of it.

"If it is difficulty in breathing, perhaps the patient is hyperventilating?"

"Probably, if that is the case, first aid should be administered forthwith. It will take a couple of minutes for the medical team to arrive, considering that the only team available is the one who just got back from a response."

"Then I'll go ahead and get the kit."

"Sure, I'll check on the patient."

Baumhauer Medical Hospital was a second-tier subsidiary of the Eddinu Corporate Group, known for being meticulous in precisely about every element concerning the building blocks of their businesses.

Regarding the extant subjects, Eddinu procured their bodyguards, sentries, and such from their own subsidiary security agency. The agency was tasked to train the prospects in a method similar to that of a military academy.

There was a great degree of pressure for those employed to perform appropriately under any circumstances, that including situations related to medical emergencies.

Halfway through his steps, the guard jogging en route the taxi stopped once he heard someone call him out.

"Martin! Wait up!"

The said guard turned towards the person who had hollered his name out. It was a man in the same standard two-piece black suit uniform that he was wearing. The sole difference was that the other was adorned with a golden brooch in the face of a lion while he had a caduceus brooch, in which both are pinned on their lapels.

The brooches were connected by two golden chain links to a diamond, the size of a fingernail, placed on the lining of their breast pockets. That only meant that they graduated from the Security Agency under Eddinu, but were now working in different companies.

"Greyson! Walk with me and state your business."

"No need, it will be brief. Please ask the driver of that taxi in the middle to make room for our convoy. My companions are on stand-by in the lobby."

Martin shook his head, showing opposition towards Greyson's favour.

"No can do. You will have to wait until the patient is taken out of the vehicle."

He resumed doing his task, leaving Greyson with no other options to negotiate. Greyson would have settled on informing his senior officer about the issue. However, before he could even make a decision, he heard the sound of several footsteps closing in on him from behind.
