Day 1 - (2)

When their eyes met she felt nervous. She suddenly started fidgeting her fingers. She played with her dress a little trying to calm down. "Don't be nervous it's just a meeting" She kept reminding herself by repeating this over and over again.

After he was done scanning through the room he gave a small nod suggesting to start their introduction. The manager took the cue and began by introducing himself. Calista was sitting in the left most side of the partitioned office. She was the fifth last person if they started off by the right. Thankfully Calista had a lot of time to prepare herself.

It was Calista's turn and Isac looked at her expecting her to speak. She swallowed dryly and got up. "I am Calista Swan and I am the assistant manager for operational strategies." she sat down as soon as she was done. Isac nodded his head one beat late, looking as if he was registering what she had just said. She heaved a sigh in relief. Good she didn't stammer and saved herself from embarrassment.

All of them who were in the general management department were either the manager or the assistant manager. Since the company has branched out, the core team has a lot of members handling the department and duties instead of one person. But they do have an overall department head who will manage the external and internal elements. The so called boss/manager is basically a mediator. He mediates the department and the top authorities.

Once they were all done with the introduction the manager began with his points for the meeting.

The meeting lasted for about an hour. They all had a healthy discussion were all of them shared their opinions and strategies. Isac was happy with their performance in the meeting. Towards the end he clapped his hands twice to get back their attention as most of them were engrossed in the discussion. Everyone paid attention to him.

"It's safe to say that I'm happy with your performances. I would expect more discussion in the future meetings. As of now you all can get back to work and I will inform you all about the finalized strategies that will be implemented."

They all nodded and got back to their seats. Suddenly Isac spoke again "Yes, Ms.Martha and Ms. Calista come and meet me in my office" after he spoke he left the office with long strides.

Calista's heart was beating fast. It was just the first day why does he want to meet her?

"Let's go" Martha said and Calista nodded her haed in agreement, pushing her thoughts aside for the time being.

Martha Luke was the manager for operational strategies. She understood why Isac had called the both. He was going to discuss about the strategies that was shared by the other members of the department with them. She was also excited to meet him in person and it was just going to be the two of them. No, the three of them, Calista was also called for. She felt a little annoyed but immediately suppressed it. Martha had her legs sweeped from the floor when she had met Isac. She definitely started to develop a huge crush on him already.

Calista sighed and followed Martha who took the lead to reach Isac's office.

She knocked on the glass door gently. "come in" was the only thing that could be heard.

They both walked in and stood in front his table. He saw them and stood too. He made his was to towards them and sat on the table.

"I guess he really likes to sit on the table" Calista thought to herself when she saw him sit.

He discussed with them for ten minutes and dismissed them. When Calista was about to leave he called her for "Ms.Calista can I have a moment? "

Martha had already left so she did not notice. Calista's heart was pounding. She closed the door behind her and walked back to spot where she previously stood.

"I didn't want to bring it up here. But I want to make sure that it's not awkward for you. I hope you could forget about what had happened and keep our personal lives aside when we work. I believe that we would have to work together more often so I hope you could keep that in mind and you can also tell me if you are uncomfortable working".

He spoke everything in one go. One would think he was rapping. Calista blinked her eyes trying to process what he said. She nodded her head. "Yes I will keep it mind and it's not awkward or uncomfortable for me. Thank you" she spoke honestly and left the room.

Though she had said that her heart was pounding like crazy. She took deep breaths to calm down. Her heart was not pounding as much when they had first met. She shook her head trying nit think about what had happened and went back to the office. She continued to do her work but occasionally she thought about what he had said back in his office.

When Calista left the room Isac let a long sigh and sat down in his chair. He continued with his work as if nothing affected him.
