Chapter Twenty-Four

Chapter Twenty-Four

Charles tried as much to remain impartial with his direction of questioning. He made a difficult decision to go solo on this investigation, notwithstanding the consequences of falling out of line in duty. He trusted Jude, and the fact that it was he who saved Cecilia from being murdered at the hospital solidified his current attitude of amicable approach and trust in this ally. He kind of also believed Cecilia's account of what happened and her story of being oblivious to the reason of Michael's death. Speaking of Michael, there was a body at the coroner's, and it was yet to be identified. He needed proof as to the identity of the body before he made final judgment. He had his reservations and he was entitled to them. Charles also reminded himself that he was a detective and be that as May; he owed it to the service to apply strenuous investigation force if needed. He, however, went out of his way to pledge support in finding Jude's family and keeping Mrs. Hershold safe. A feat he hoped to achieve, if possible for the time being. Emphatically, they had to make it through the night.
