Chapter Seven

The door to the dark apartment closed behind him after he entered. The tall figure of a man went straight to the bathroom as if he was possessed by a spirit to inspect the damage inflicted on him by his worthy opponent, of that he thought of him who overpowered him, the assassin, and prevented him from achieving his objective. He stood in front of the bathroom mirror with his bare torso revealing a ripped body image; he had kept a strenuous gym routine to achieve this macho but slim fit body structure. He inspected the mild blows on his face and looked away from the mirror for a brief moment to come to terms with the realization that he had failed the one mission to eliminate the one Hershold who was considered a loose end in his book.

He had a history of a perfectionism compulsion. He always calculated his inputs and came through to executing his missions with a zero record of failure. The assassin splashed some cold water from the tap on the sink unto his face, and then cleaned his face up with a dry towel. He moved to the bedroom, which was dark, and sat on his bed to think.

"I have to complete this assignment!" he said with conviction to himself.

And so he got out of his bed and moved with precision in the dark to a telephone. He dialed a familiar number, and waited for a response.

"Hello, Angel…" a deep voice from the receiving end of the call started to speak

"Has the target been taken care of…?" the voice asked in anticipation.

"I was interrupted by this man in a baseball cap; you didn't tell me there was someone else on this assignment!" Angel responded a little agitated but calm.

"My Goodness that must be Black Hunter. Are you hurt? He can be a little bit lethal..." the voice explained.

"I'm fine. I need to know where they are. He took her with him." Angel informed the voice.

"I can get you that information in a jiffy. Just make sure you take care of this. We have a lot at stake if we miss this target. They will not be happy with us if we mess this one up!" the voice seemed to caution Angel.

"I know. Just get me their location and I will take care of the rest." Angel assured the voice.

"You better do!" the voice commanded

"Stay by your phone for a while. I will get back to you with the information." The Voice instructed

"I will. Make it quick, you know how I get when delayed." Angel replied.

The phone went to a beep and hung up without any reply. Angel placed the phone on the receiver and waited.

He stood by the telephone tapping his phalanges on the table and staring into the dark of the room like an owl. Then the phone rang again. He picked it up quickly and seeped in the information he needed. He smiled afterward and hung up.

Angel moved to his walk-in wardrobe and took out a pair of jockeys, a sweater, and a baseball cap. He undressed and wore them.

He went to look at himself in the mirror and was pleased.

Angel walked out of his apartment ready for a rematch, and this time he was going prepared.
