Observing the expectations of the legendary team, Stephen chuckled and said to Diana, "It's you, Wonder Woman, who was reluctantly forced to have a child with me. Tell them that you never wanted this to happen."
Diana hesitated.
She definitely wished that this had never occurred, but what would happen if Stephen didn't exist? I can't confront Eris alone. The tribe's people will suffer even more, Artemis won't ascend as the new goddess of strife, and the future of Paradise Island remains uncertain! Taking a deep breath, Diana shook her head firmly. "Perhaps this is the best outcome."
"I will defeat him and make him pay, wash away my shame, and reclaim my glory. I swear in the name of the Amazon princess!"
The legendary team grew desperate.
Even Wonder Woman was unwilling to alter everything. Why? Why on earth?
"What on earth did you do?" White Canary Sara Lance asked Stephen in disbelief.
"I merely did what I desired, nothing more, nothing less." Stephen shrugged and spoke with a relaxed expression. "For instance... I want to board the Wave Rider now!"
"Impossible!" Rip Hunter exclaimed eagerly. "The Wave Rider belongs to me."
"Well... it's mine now!" Stephen chuckled and said to Hippolyta. "Congratulations, you are now liberated and free!"
With the Wave Rider in his possession, Stephen prepared to depart.
The liberation from slavery didn't make Hippolyta too excited. She asked calmly, "Do we need to take any action? For example... should we eliminate them?"
Diana hesitated at first, but soon became resolute. "Mother, even though they caused this series of events, their wrongdoing doesn't warrant death."
Hippolyta remained silent and looked at Stephen.
Stephen chuckled and replied, "There's no need for that. They originally came from the future timeline. Killing them in the present won't change the fact that they're still alive in the past. Not to mention, who will put an end to Vandal Savage, the future ruler of the world? I have no interest in making a special trip to 2166 to save the world. So you don't have to do anything. As long as I'm having fun, I might come back next time. Don't deny me the joy of riding a horse."
"I will choose the best white horse!" Hippolyta responded.
"I'm going to explore a new place on the Wave Rider. You can disembark." Stephen smiled and waved. Hippolyta nodded and led the Amazon warriors to leave the Wave Rider.
"I..."
Artemis's hesitation was interrupted by Hippolyta.
"Paradise Island will face an even greater crisis. You are now the goddess of strife, and we need you."
"Can..."
"I understand your concerns. Trust me, no clan member will blame you for the decision you made before. You saved them."
Artemis looked at Hippolyta, then at Stephen, and silently left the Wave Rider.
"Diana."
At the cabin door, Hippolyta suddenly called out to Diana.
"Mother?" Diana looked at her mother suspiciously.
"You stay with him," Hippolyta said.
"Huh? Why?" Diana looked at her mother in surprise. "Why should I follow him? Didn't you say that Paradise Island will face a greater crisis? Then I should stay. If you're worried that they will change what happened, then shouldn't Artemis stay as well? Why me?"
"Child, haven't you always wanted to see the outside world? By following him, you can see and learn more, giving you the opportunity to defeat him. Then you will have the strength to protect Paradise Island." Hippolyta caressed Diana's cheek, pushed her away reluctantly, and left after a long pause.
"Mother..."
Diana watched as the hatch slowly closed, a dismissive gaze in her eyes.
"Why?"
Artemis wondered why the queen forced Diana to stay.
"I did it for her own good," Hippolyta replied in her heart.
As the God Killer, Diana's destiny is to battle Ares, the God of War. However, with Diana's current strength, she is no match for Ares, especially when the gods are still alive and the jealous queen Hera sent Eris to confront them. Concerned that Diana might encounter trouble after her demise, Hippolyta believed it would be safest for her to accompany Stephen.
As for fighting the God of War, Ares? Hippolyta initially planned to find a replacement for Diana when she was a child but later dismissed the idea. However, the candidate has received the same training as Diana and could serve as an ordinary Amazon warrior if not needed. And now... maybe it could work.
"I hope Diana can mature quickly alongside him. After all, even if she stays and defeats Ares, she won't be able to face the invasion of Steppenwolf in the future." Hippolyta sighed inwardly as she watched the Wave Rider take off.
Onboard the Wave Rider, Stephen absentmindedly slid his hand over the console, and information about different time points flashed rapidly.
"This all seems dull. Do you have any interesting moments in time to recommend?" Stephen casually asked, looking up at the legendary team lying on the ground.
Owning the Wave Rider wasn't an easy feat. Controlling it manually wasn't easy for Stephen either. Autopilot required the cooperation of the artificial intelligence Gideon, but he lacked the necessary permission.
Even if he had it, Rip Hunter, who held the highest permission, would deny him. So, Stephen resorted to a straightforward and direct approach to make Rip Hunter obedient.
And if the child wasn't compliant? Just teach them a lesson.
When they thought the Amazon warriors had a chance to overpower Stephen and correct the course after their departure, Stephen beat them to it.
Stephen chuckled lightly as he observed the resentful and angry faces of the Legend Squad. "Don't be like this. In fact, you should thank me. Thank me for knocking you down because lying down is quite comfortable!"
"Then why don't you lie down yourself?"
Rip Hunter retorted angrily to Stephen's sarcasm.
"I haven't encountered anyone who can knock me down yet," Stephen grinned.
"I don't think so."
White Canary Sara Lance said quietly and looked behind Stephen. Stephen turned his head slightly and was taken aback.
"Diana, would you like to have a child with me?"
Diana, feeling a bit emotional about their separation, struck Stephen with her fist upon hearing his words.
"I've considered it."
Stephen yelped and caught Diana's fist, smiling mischievously. "I've thought of a new candidate for the pillow."
