It was exactly a week after the discussion with his brother, when Jace received a call from Caden.
"Brother, where are you?" Caden's voice sounded tense and sharper than usual over the phone.
Jace glanced at his watch, already annoyed. "And where do you expect me to be by this time of the day?"
"Please, brother, not now. Tell me your location."
Jace frowned. "I just told you. What's going on?"
Caden sighed in exasperation. "Why are you still there when you're supposed to be meeting with Grace at the new site?"
Pausing briefly from the page he was about turning, Jace asked with a frown. "What are you talking about? How come I don't remember fixing that appointment with anyone?"
Hearing Jace's words, Caden's voice grew more urgent. "You mean… brother, I think something's off."
"Stop beating about the bush, Caden. I'm in the middle of something here. If this is one of your… Wait... did you say Grace?"
