I Think You’ve Lost Your Son’s Heart To A Complete Stranger

"What might have happened to make him dislike the idea of schooling this much? Was it because he had never gone to one or something happened in the past while he was at school?"

She made up her mind to discuss it with his father whenever an opportunity presents itself.

While Grace was busy thinking of how to present the issue of enrolling Charles in a kindergarten with him, Jace just arrived at Brandon Corporation and the first person he met on the presidential floor was his beloved, annoying brother, Caden.

Caden rushed forward to peer into the elevator as soon as he saw him step out of the elevator alone.

"Where is my pumpkin? He didn't come with you?"

"Don't you think it's high time you stopped calling him that? Even the new nanny has joined you to call him that ridiculous name."

Remembering the delectable nanny, Caden flashed a grin. "Isn't she a darling?"

Jace's eyes narrowed. "You had better wipe that silly smile off your face!" Jace ordered.

"And don't you dare have any funny ideas about my son's nanny. As a matter of fact, I don't want you anywhere near her," he warned.

"Why do you sound so protective of her? Could it be that you have started falling for her just like Charles?"

Jace sent Caden a chilling look. "Do you have so much free time on your hands?"

"I'm sorry brother, please forgive my wild thoughts," Caden quickly called a truce.

The last thing he needed was to piss his brother off. Who knows where he would send him to this time around.

"But seriously, where is Charles?" He asked, changing the topic before his brother would do something unreasonable.

"What do you think?" Jace threw back with a complicated expression as he placed his finger on the scanner to open the door to his office.

He still could not wrap his fingers around Charles' sudden likeness towards a complete stranger.

"I think you have just lost your only son's heart to a complete stranger," Caden said sympathetically and followed his brother into the office.

"But I just hope her character is as good as she looks on the outside," he added, earning himself a stern look from his brother.

"What?" His attractive hazel eyes flashed in panic. "I'm only concerned about my little nephew, that's all," he raised his hands in defense.

"Did I say anything?" Jace did a good job of hiding his amusement…his little brother's action was so funny.

"You don't need to say anything, brother. Your look alone says it all."

Jace finally let out a deep chuckle and pressed a bell on his table, soon after, Mr Suresh stepped into the office.

"Good morning, Boss. Good morning Master Caden," he bowed to the two brothers.

"Good Morning, Suresh."

"Morning Suresh. How far have you gone with the assignment I asked you to carry out for me?"

"It's been completed, Sir," Suresh replied.

"Mm- hmm," Jace nodded, a sign that Suresh should go on.

"Apart from something that happened in her hometown six months ago, she is fairly clean, Boss. The details of the investigation have been forwarded to your email."

"Alright, you may go now. But inform all the executives that we'll be meeting with our foreign investors next week. Also the head of the design department must submit their designs on my desk before the close of work today.

"Yes, Boss. But we're yet to get the perfect design to present to them."

"That's why I need to see these last batch of designs from the design department."

"Caden, any news from your own end?"

"Hopefully, brother, the model we contacted will be arriving in a few days time. I believe she'll be able to perfectly pull off whatever our designers come up with before our meeting with the investors."

"That's good, but I hope she doesn't change her mind at the last minute just like the previous ones," Jace asked skeptically.

"No brother, this one is not like that. I worked directly with her when I was abroad and she showed some level of integrity."

"If you say so. But nevertheless, still send her a reminder about next week. We don't want any surprises," Jace instructed.

"Of course, brother," Caden affirmed seriously.

"Suresh, what is my schedule for this morning?"

"Give me a sec, sir." Suresh tapped briefly on his iPad, then looked up. "You have an appointment with Mr Yori in an hour's time, Boss and everything has been prepared in readiness for the meeting."

"All right, you may leave now."

Suresh bowed slightly before exiting the office.

At the close of work, Jace, who rarely rushed home was the first to leave the office. Although he had called Mr Fitz several times to check on Charles, he still couldn't wait to get home.

By the time Caden came to his brother's office to inform him that he was leaving, he was no where to be found.

"Where is my brother?" He asked Mrs Paloma Hood, his brother's secretary.

She was in her late forties and had worked with their father before he retired. After taking over as the president, Jace didn't replace her because she was very efficient and good at what she did.

Paloma paused her action of packing her things to respond to Caden. "He left a while ago."

"So soon? Did he mention anything about where he was headed."

If it was something official Jace would always inform his secretary.

"No, but he seemed to be in a hurry when he left."

"I see," Caden held his chin with a thoughtful expression.

He knew very well the reason his brother was rushing home. He's never stayed away from his son for that number of hours since the accident four years ago.

Or could it also be because of a certain someone?

"See you tomorrow, Paloma," he said over his shoulder as he walked away.

As he entered the elevator, he smiled mischievously, "I guess I have to bother you again this evening, brother."
