After a prolonged bout of crying, Lin Wan finally grew weary. She sat upright in her car, dazed for a while, and retrieved a small makeup bag from her purse. She touched up her makeup to restore her disheveled appearance.
With her makeup refreshed, Lin Wan pulled out her phone and dialed Su Xiaorong's number.
The call was promptly answered. "Hello, Wanwan. I'm delighted to hear from you."
It had been long since Lin Wan had last contacted Su Xiaorong, so her surprise and joy upon receiving her call were palpable.
"Xiaorong," Lin Wan called out, her voice still bearing a trace of tears. She inquired, "Are you at home right now?"
"Yes, I just returned to my apartment," Su Xiaorong replied. She sensed something amiss in Lin Wan's tone but didn't press for details since she wasn't certain.
"Is it possible for me to come over?" Lin Wan asked, feeling somewhat embarrassed.
