"Huh??...." She looked at me, her eyes glossed over like she wasn't present, like she didn't hear a damn thing any of us said 

"I asked if you were okay" 

"Ohh, ah, yeah, yeah, I'm fine, totally...." she's tripping over her words, her eyes darting across the room looking for a distraction, an excuse, the slightest window to escape this inevitable confrontation, she found none 

"Michi...." I placed my hand over her's and her body stiffened, reminding me of our first heart to heart in the Dorm Kitchen, ".....you seem...."
