Chapter three

You know when you think you would be awesome at something but then actually suck at it?

Well, I thought I was a damn pro at reading and interpreting maps but turns out it was harder than it looked.

I couldn't navigate myself around the school and I swear that damn admissions office was hiding from me!

Nearly rounding the entire school just searching for that damned office, I finally found it.

Victory!

Entering the clean and weirdly quiet area I noticed a man with slick back hair and rectangular glasses seated behind a desk.

He looked up from his laptop probably playing a game or something seeing how bored he looked. Greeting me with a nod he asked

"Can I help you?"

His voice was deep and sounded so gentle it was alluring. He had the kind of voice that made you feel giddy with butterflies in your stomach.

As if!

His voice was terrible! High pitched in all the wrong places and didn't suit that face at all.

"Good, good morning"

I greeted desperately trying to keep my laughter to myself. A task that was proving harder and harder with every minute that passed.

Clearing up my throat in a lousy attempt to maintain my composure I looked into the icy blue eyes in front of me.

Wow, a good-looking blonde with blue eyes, how cliché. Only the voice did not sound like the cliche male lead's voice.

"Uhm...I'm new here and I'd like my timetable please."

"Of course, you must be Clover Klein"

I nodded my head looking to the floor trying my all to compose myself.

Handing me my school schedule along with another map of the school I scowled at the useless piece of paper.

"Do you have any questions?"

Yes, where the hell is my next class? Why is this school so damn huge? Is your voice naturally like that or did you swallow a rubber duck when you were little?

All these questions floated in my head but none came flowing out of my mouth.

Instead, I shook my head with a large smile plastered on my face. I swear it was faker than Nicki's ass.

"Alright then, class is about to begin so you best make your way. Your first lesson is English. It's on the first floor somewhere on the right."

"Mm"

I nodded in thanks and left with the speed of a cheetah.

Walking in the direction I was told to I found myself yet again lost. Could you blame me though that guy's directions were super vague!

How the hell I got so far under three minutes I have no clue. Rounding yet another corner I felt a body crash into mine.

Just as I was about to apologize to the stranger, my words caught up in my mouth.

Before me stood a god in the making, perfection at its finest. Emerald green eyes, a sharp jawline capable of cutting stone and a perfectly sculpted figure.

It was as if the fine specimen standing before me was one of Leonardo's artwork. Truly magnificent!

"Oh sorry there"

Oh my gosh, his voice is perfect. I swear I just melted into a puddle of butter right there and then.

"Are you alright?"

Yeah, I'm good, better now that you're here.

"Are you lost?"

Yes, please guide me on the way to your heart right now!

"Uhmm....are you alright?"

Rapidly blinking my eyes and stepping out of my reverie, I once again stared at the stranger who I badly wanted to unstrange right then.

"Oh...yeah, yeah I'm good. Thanks. And sorry about bumping into you"

He smiled as he shook off my apology unbothered by it.

While he was busy reassuring me I was stuck trying to shield my eyes from that bright smile.

I mean damn. I swear it was bright. Like so bright we wouldn't need the sun with him around.

Beat it sun we don't need you anymore!

"It's alright. Are you new here? It's just that I know almost all the students' faces here, but I can't seem to recognise yours."

I shuffled on my feet and kept placing a strand of my black hair behind my ear.

"Ah, yeah actually. I'm kinda lost, mind helping me out?"

"Sure"

He nodded his head as he smiled at me.

"I'm Chris by the way, you?"

"Clover, nice to meet you, Chris"

Showing him my schedule we began walking back in the direction I came from showing him which class I was supposed to be going to. As we walked he began telling me a bit about himself.

While I on the other hand began observing him. I noticed how he kept scrunching up his brows every time he expressed his hatred toward video games.

I was a sucker for electronic games but he didn't need to know that.

Instead, I agreed with him and equally discussed my loathing toward them. Something I'll apologize to my babies for when I get home.

We chatted for a while until we finally made it to a door. Chris bid me farewell and I twirled a hair strand around my finger watching him walk away.

I was highly aware what I was doing made me look like a pick-me-girl but could you blame me? The guy was hot! I don't even remember why I was so against moving anymore.

Steven who?!

So you know that awkward moment when a new student walks into the room and all eyes are set on them?

Well, I owned that moment. As soon as I entered the room, I tripped on an invisible crack in the floor falling face first on the very visible floor.

Instead of the laughter of students which I would have preferred, I received dead cricket silence. Standing up in embarrassment my eyes were firmly set on the floor. I stood there glaring at the ground.

"Ms, you are?"

Finally looking up I saw the stern look of an old man staring at me. I scrunched up my nose in distaste because his face reminded me of the raisin that nearly choked me to death that one time at camp.

"Oh, I'm uh...Clover Klein. I'm new?"

Why was I questioning it? I mean I was new in the school but not in the world. Wait what was I talking about?

"Ms Klein?"

He shuffled around his desk which was littered with papers and old newspapers. Do people still read those?

"Oh yes, here is a notice of your admission. Please take a seat at the back."

I nodded at the grump and made my way to the back. The worst thing about sitting at the far back was that you had to walk past a lot of desks while many students stared at you. Their eyes piercing at your soul.

What's worse is that not too long ago I landed with my face on the floor. Now the walk seemed longer than it should have.

It felt like I was doing some walk of shame or something it made me feel extremely anxious.

Sitting down on an empty seat I ignored the stares and focused on looking forward. Only for me to be stunned to see another handsome boy.

He had short brown hair and a lip ring. A leather jacket hung around broad shoulders with a gold chain as decoration.

He looked like the bad boy of the school and I would not mind if he was bad to me!

"Hey, if I were you I'd stop drooling over other people's men!"

Said the annoying voice of some girl who looked like she was run over by a clown's car.

It took all of me not to diss her and give a tutorial on the proper application of make-up.

I clicked my tongue at the annoying little twit. Ignoring me she looked forward and flung her hair over her shoulder. Wow, cliche much?

The class proceeded with no further hindrance. And before I knew it it was all over. To be fair though I was kinda lost. I have no idea what the heck was being said at all!

Moving to the next class proved to be also a difficult task, but I triumphed in the end.

Entering a dimly lit classroom that had creepy statues of terrified faces I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand at attention and a shiver ran down my spine covering my arms in goosebumps. The classroom felt colder than the rest of the school.

This was so not creepy at all!

Once again I sat at the very back because I felt better in the back. Not because it gave me a perfect view of all the cute and attractive guys, *cough* Bad boy *cough*.

Definitely not the reason here.

Too occupied looking for the lip-ringed hotty, I failed to notice the presence next to me. Feeling a tap on my shoulder I looked up to see who it was interrupting my observation.

Long, black hair covering blood red, eagle-shaped eyes, probably eye contacts. The tall hooded figure stood there with a stern look.

I had not expected that at all!

"That's my seat"

Those were three simple words, yet said so much. To me that sounded like heaven, an invitation to a higher resolution.

"O-oh, my bad. Sorry I didn't know"

He rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue. Usually, such an act would undoubtedly end with me fighting them however it was a different case when done by a handsome guy like him.

Click all you want hun there's a lot more you can do with that tongue and I'll teach you all the tricks!

"I really don't care, just move"

Yes sir!

Moving from the seat onto the one in front of him, I looked down at my desk. Peeking behind me to take him in just a little longer I was startled when I saw him staring back at me. Turning my head back I felt a more pleasant shiver run down my spine.

It was finally time to leave and I was starved. Since the school day was short due to it being the first day there was no lunch break.

"Yo kiddo!"

My mother yelled from her seat in the car a large smirk decorating her lips. She sat there with her eyebrows raised in anticipation.

"Hey Mum"

I greeted while entering the car. She looked at me with a spark in her eyes and I looked back with a brow raised.

"....What?"

"Nothing, nothing. How was school?"

She started the car and slowly left the parking lot.

"Not bad I guess."

She nodded at me, her eyes still on the road.

"So....."

I looked at her from the passenger seat. Raising my brow once again

"So?"

Taking her time before saying anything I patiently waited for her to speak.

"Did you make any new friends?"

Hmmm, she was acting suspiciously Very suspicious.

" Uhm, no? It's only the first day of school. I don't think I'll just get friends right off the bat like that. This isn't preschool."

"I know I know. It's just I was just asking, you know? I worry about you. I am your mother after all"

I sighed at the worried tone in her voice. I knew it wasn't her fault we moved. She needed to get away from that place and dad couldn't waste the opportunity of getting a raise.

Besides, it's not like I particularly loved staying in the same place for the rest of my life not knowing what the outside world was like.

"Yeah, I know. Where's Syl?"

"Oh, she's still at the school. I thought I'd get you first since your school's closer to the mall"

"Are we going to the mall?"

"No, I just came from there"

"Oh..... what'd you buy?"

She hummed to herself in thought as we made a turn to Sylvia's school.

"Just a few things for dinner, I also bought you a few colour papers for that weird wall thing of yours."

She laughed rolling her eyes. I huffed at her and turned to look out the window.

"It's not weird okay? It's eccentric, a way for me to express my artistic side."

"Whatever you say"

Parking the car she looked at me with pleading eyes. I know what that means.

Sighing in frustration cause she could have just asked like a normal person instead of trying to telepathically tell me to get Syl, I buckled myself from the seatbelt.

"I'll be right back"

"Thanks, sweety."

Making my way to the waiting area I saw a pigtailed Sylvia swinging her legs from her seat while animatedly talking with a friend of hers.

"Sylvester!"

Her head quickly turned to me and a huge smile spread over her cute chubby face.

"Four leaf clover!"

The small girl jumped off her seat and came running at me. I bent down to catch her just as she threw herself into my arms.

We laughed as I picked her up from the ground and left for the car.

Buckling her into her seat I soon did the same for myself.

"Hi, mommy!"

"Hello, my little chipmunk! How was school?"

"It was really fun. I made tons of friends and they invited me to a birthday party next week!"

"Really? That's great baby. You did far better than your sister here"

"Hey! I take offence to that, you know?"

They both laughed at my expense. Folding my arms I crossed my eyes and looked out the window again with my checks puffed.

Guess I'm the chipmunk now.
