Chapter sixteen

Standing next to Somila as stoic as ever was none other than Novel himself. Only this time his face seemed a bit laxer like he was okay standing and talking to Somila.

This was a huge problem. I needed to stop this and fast!

Not even thinking about what I was doing the next thing I knew my legs moved on their own and I rushed towards the two. Forcing myself between them I broke their private conversation and what looked to be something too intimate for my liking

"H-hey Novel!"

Nervous, sweaty, and voice cracking I frantically waved hello to the taller boy. He stared at me confused and slightly annoyed. My eye twitched in irritation but I kept it hidden. After all, it was a no-no for me to expose my true cynical side to one of my future husbands.

Control Clover, control!

"Who're you?"

Instantly my face dropped at the question. Like really dude, are you serious with that question right now?!

"U-uhm, I'm Clover...I'm in your class?"

"Oh"

Oh? That's all you're gonna say? I swear I am this close to jumping on your bones right now you little piece of sh-

"So, Novel! What are you doing with our little Somila?"

Yusa, being the pest she normally was came intruding on the conversation. Wrapping her arm around my shoulder she gave Novel a look of distrust.

This girl, she thinks it's alright for her to look at my man like that?! Well, he doesn't really know his mine yet but that's just a small part that'll soon be rectified.

"I bumped into her in the halls. She seemed flustered and panicked, so I offered to help her to the gardens where she could get some fresh air. Honestly, I thought she was about to pass out at any minute."

With a crooked smile; invisible to others who wouldn't pay as much attention to this beautiful creature as I did, he looked down at Somila. I watched as her face flared in a cute blush. Trying to hide the emotion she looked down at her feet in shyness.

Oh hell no!

"Novel! U-uhm, could you help me with the work we got in class? I wasn't really paying much attention that time."

A forced giggle just came sprawling out but I didn't mind at all. I looked at him awaiting his answer. But his face just looked completely uninterested. Like, work with me here Novel! Can't you see that I'm trying to fish you out here?

"Huh, which class are you talking about? Do we even have the same class period?"

Seriously? I was sitting next to you in the first period, I know I haven't been in this school for long and I've hardly spoken to you but at least pretend like you know me!

"W-we were in the same classroom the first period of the day. I was sitting next to you?"

"Yeah, I don't remember you."

He said without care, rolling his eyes he looked away to the distance. Looking up at the tall male his face revealed nothing of knowing what I was talking about. Instead, he seemed completely bored with a blank look. It was like he was bored with my existence.

A bit peeved by that conclusion I forced a tight smile and tilted my head to the side. Hands behind my back and Yusa still hanging on my shoulders like a freaking monkey, I'm sure I looked like a psycho ex-girlfriend.

"Hm?"

Although I said that in a friendly manner, it didn't give off the feel of a harmless schoolgirl, instead I gave off the vibe of a bloodthirsty wolf in sheep's clothing. Fortunately, Novel didn't pick up on that vibe however, it seemed like the other two saw through my act.

Yusa picking up on my slowly rising anger and something else hidden deep inside me pulled me into her boob as a way to ensure I was kept in check. Either that or she was trying to suffocate me with her melons.

"Woah, Yusa what are you-?"

"Oh come on Nov, can't you just help out a classmate? Even if you don't remember her as a classmate at least treat her like a schoolmate. After all, helping her isn't gonna kill you now is it?"

Gasping at Yusa's idea I pushed myself off her deadly weapons and internally smiled in glee. I did not see her helping me at all. I thought she was gonna do what she did best. Which is ruining my chances of happiness for anything since I've come to know her. Which hasn't been long.

Already I had built up scenarios of us sitting and studying all alone in the library. My pencil would "mistakenly" fall off the table and as he is about to pick it up I simultaneously reach for it, causing us to touch hands.

And at that moment our eyes lock in a daze as we both lose ourselves in the world of another. Then, our faces seem to draw closer and closer. His breath brushes against my cheeks, warming them from the cold...assuming the library will be cold by then.

Anyway we'd get so close to each other our noses barely touching and then like a scene in a movie his lips crash with mine and we find ourselves intertwined in a passionate ki-

"Yeah, and while you're at it why don't you help out Somila as well? She has trouble with history sometimes and I heard rumours that you're in the top five of your class for the subject."

Erica, crashing into the conversation ruined all plans I had built in my head to win over Novel with those sentences. It took all I had in me not to sucker punch her right in the chin. And I nearly did but the grasp of a hand on my shoulder stopped me in my tracks.

Looking at Yusa in question she shook her head with a solemn expression. Showing that she knew and understood what I was going through but still stopped me from knocking out her friend.

Rolling my eyes in irritation I clicked my tongue but immediately regretted it. I almost forgot Novel was there, if he saw just how rude I really was he'd definitely not want anything to do with me and I could not let that happen. Having one of my honeypies dislike me rather than not even knowing of my existence was far worse!

"First off, don't ever call me Nov. And secondly...I guess I could help out with studying. If Somila doesn't mind that is?"

He said looking down at her in question. Shocked by the sudden offer the girl stuttered out an answer...well tried to anyway.

"I-I, u-uhm, I don't think I, I mean...uh"

"What she means is yes. She'd absolutely love to!"

Once again Erica butted in, answering for her shy companion.

"Great, then I'll give you my digits"

Taking that as my chance I jumped in between him and Somila again and pushed myself closer to him. If I couldn't get this guy with some sweet talk and puppy eyes then I'll go on the aggressive side.

Hehehe!

"Could you give them to me? Somila forgot her phone in the library"

"N-no I di-"

Giving her a side-death glare that could freeze King Kong in his steps; hiding it from Novel, of course, I said with clenched teeth and a forced smile that looked more terrifying than welcoming.

"You forgot your phone when we ran, right Somila?"

That seemed to do the trick as she quickly agreed without a fight.

"Y-yeah, I did. I must've forgotten. Y-you should give them to Clover instead"

She said looking down then back up to the both of us with a sweet and sincere smile. Damn this girl, she was surely more bright than the sun and so modest too. But no matter how princess-like she was I was not gonna give Novel off to her just like that.

This was love and war meaning the gloves were off and no moves were off the table.

"Huh, sure. Who's Clover?"

Was this guy seriously asking that? He doesn't even look like he's concerned about his lack of manners.

But...but that's just part of his charm. I swear no matter how many times he refuses to acknowledge me I'll always treasure him. Just having him talk to me is like a dream come true. Something I could never have imagined would happen.

"I-I'm Clover!"

Excited and forgetting all sense of personal space I clung to his arm like a leech. Unamused by my actions he simply shrugged my hand off and took a step back.

"Yeah, okay. Just don't call me for any unnecessary things. I don't like being bothered"

"Mm"

Nodding my head in complete submission I grabbed my cell from my back pocket and looked up at him in expectation. Eyes shining in anticipation I waited for him to tell me his digits.

At first, he seemed a little against it, but after looking over at Somila he made up his mind and gave in.

"That's that."

He said with a look of irritation but I did not mind at all. I was far too busy in my own world gushing over the numbers of my one true love! I could hear wedding bells and squeals of joy. Wow, what a momentous occasion!

"Well, I guess we'll see you around Nov!"

Yusa waved at him as she once again latched herself to my shoulder.

"Stop calling me Nov! Geez, see you around Somila"

Using three of his fingers to wave to us he turned around and placed his hand into his jacket pocket.

"B-bye!"

With a shy look and blushed cheeks, Somila waved back at him. A little jealous and not willing to give in to the fight, I shouted back a reply of my own.

"Bye, see you soon!"

Frantically waving at his back on my tippy toes, excited and overjoyed I watched as he went around a corner.

When he no longer was within my sight I looked down at the saved numbers on my phone and hugged it to my chest, sighing in contentment.

"Wow, you really are a go-getter huh?"

Whipping my head around to Yusa I rolled my eyes at her accusation.

"I have no idea what you're talking about"

"Oh really now?"

"You're one to talk, what was with that helping out Clover study crap?"

Erica asked Yusa with a look of a fierce tiger.

"Me? I was just helping out a friend in need. And what of you saying Somila needed help with history? Last I checked she's pretty good in that department"

With a look of a sly fox, Yusa smirked at Erica.

"Like your words, just helping a friend in need. Besides, it's not a bad thing for her to get even better grades, don't you agree?"

Okay anyone could see that these two had some sort of brawl going on between them. They were exchanging glares and words of venom, even if they didn't sound like venomous words.

"What do you say we get you ready for your study session Somila? I'm sure Novel would love to see you in that new outfit!"

Erica strongly suggested with a tight smile that looked more terrifying than friendly.

"O-okay"

Somila responded in fear. Couldn't blame her, Erica looked pretty scary right now.

Almost as scary as Yusaaaaa....no never mind she's way more terrifying!

Seeing the sly smirk clearly displayed by Yusa not even bothering to disguise the evil gleam in her eyes she gave a fake smile.

"Oh? Well, I don't believe clothes define what is inside a person. Personality always wins people over after all."

"Really now?"

"Yes, indeed"

The two girls stood dangerously close to each other face to face. Both with tight smiles and eyes closed. From another person's perspective, it might look like two friends joking around.

But it didn't look or feel like that from where I stood. I could smell the strong musky smell of hostility and it was thick enough to cut through!

"Well, then why don't we make a small wager?"

"Oh? A wager you say. I suppose there's no harm in that"

I have a bad feeling about this. What are these two up to?

"You use your own tactic and I use mine and we see who of the two can win over Novel's heart. How 'bout it?"

What? No! Yusa, refuse you damn fool!

"I'm in!"

Nooooo!

"May the best woman win"

"I plan to!"

Shaking hands with evil looks decorating their faces the two sealed our fates. I feel like I was sold to the devil. Yusa, you damn ass!
