Sheila woke up slowly, with a dull pain in her head and a feeling of disorientation.
She blinked several times, adjusting to the dim evening light that barely filtered through the hotel room curtains. Her mouth felt dry, with a bitter taste.
"Ah, what happened...?" Sheila mumbled, bringing a hand to her forehead.
As she touched her head, she felt a light bandage, which caused her to frown.
She tried to remember, but her mind was foggy, with only fragments of vague and confusing memories.
Suddenly, the sound of her phone vibrating snapped her out of her reverie. It was on the nightstand, emitting a sharp and persistent tone.
Sheila reached out, feeling slightly dizzy as she leaned forward. Looking at the screen, she saw an unknown number calling her new phone.
With a sigh, she swiped to answer.
"Hello?" Sheila said in a weak and raspy voice.
