Midnight Meeting

During the time the girl, now named Shiro, began inspecting herself in the mirror, on the other side of the complex, a meeting was being held. Everyone sitting at the table were of high ranking officials of this research facility, and their meeting of course is in regards to the recent development of the girl.

"How are things with the girl?" An old, yet powerful voice came from the first man who spoke, his voice echoing throughout the room in search of answers.

"L-Lieutenant Ilaria has succeeded in putting on the mask we created, sir." A young, female voice answered the man's question in a feeble manner. She isn't meant to be here by any normal means, but considering she played a big part with the mask's construction, she was allowed to join in with this discussion.

"And?"

"There doesn't seem to be any problems thus far, s-sir." She spoke in an awkward fashion, mainly due to the fact to who she's speaking to, but deep down, the success of her mask made her extremely happy, knowing that she could've lost her job if Charlotte lost her life.

"We'll be hearing from Ilaria in the coming days, but continue to monitor the two of them."

"Understood." A young man spoke up this time in answer to the old man's command, seeming to want to take over from the young woman after seeing her flustered like this.

"But the mask won't be able to contain the girl for long, right? The sealing magic inside it will surely deplete in a matter of days if used like this." Another man spoke up, looking to be a lot more built than the rest of the people currently sitting at the table.

"Ilaria has been informed about this, don't worry. She said she can handle with supplying mana to the mask." An older woman spoke up this time who sat next to the younger woman from earlier. Her voice along with her posture seems to dominate the room. However-

"Are you sure the Lieutenant can handle it? To supply such a device, won't it kill her?"

"Like I said, she can handle it."

"How can you be so sure? What if another 'incident' like the one three years ago happens again? Will you take responsibility for it, Major?"

"If that happens, then you're free to have my head if it pleases you."

"Not unless the girl takes all of us as-!"

"Enough!" The old man's voice penetrates the other's, quickly stopping the argument that was about to ensue. "This is why we're having this discussion. In five days from now, if Lieutenant Ilaria is still alive, we'll proceed to the next phase. Now does anyone have any questions regarding that?" He swiftly brings the discussion back on topic as everyone collects themselves upon hearing his words.

"Yes" A different man voice broke the silence, appearing to be nearing his forties, a pair of glasses shielding his eyes. "If we do proceed with this, then how long am I expected to see results?" However, his tone was much different than the others. Everyone tensed up as he made his demands to the old man.

"Take that up with the Major, she's in charge of Lieutenant Ilaria. Otherwise just talk to her directly."

"With all due respect General, things are getting out of hand on my end. I'd like to hear at least an estimate."

"One week." The Major spoke up at the man's words, seeming to be done with this discussion as she shifts her gaze forward, Not wanting to speak directly to the man. Almost as if she has some distaste for him.

"Does that please you?" The old man spoke once more to the man."

"Yes. Thank you very much." With a smile, he adjusts his glasses, looking to be pleased from the Major's words.

"Now then, it's getting late, we'll discus this further once the Lieutenant's report comes in. You're all dismissed."

"Understood!" Everyone except for the man in glasses spoke up to the old man's words before they all began to leave their seats. The young girl from earlier heaving a sigh of relief now that it's all over.

"You did well." The Major spoke to the young girl in a gentle tone now that the discussion has been closed.

"Y-yes! Thank you!"

And so, the night soon passes as the Major and her little scientist continues to observe Charlotte and the girl through the night with hidden cameras stashed inside their room. Since the girl was still awake, watching herself in the mirror inside the bathroom, the Major and the scientist had to stay alert, making sure that no sudden outbreak would occur.
