Chapter 2: "The hunter and the hunted"

In a nameless town in the west side of Sckelt kingdom, there is one girl who have dream and wish she want to fulfill, to become a traveler and see the beautiful places, discover and solve the mysteries the world has to offer and of course, to catch up to the person she looks up to

Thats why, ever since she was 13 years old she had been training and learning on how to survive as a traveler, because in this world where monsters are roaming in every corner of the world, death is very common, but of course there is a way ward them of, its by using an item that spreads some type of sound waves that monsters seem to hate, it cant be heard nor is it harmful to humans, most town's, city's and kingdom's have this type of item

The item was discovered in an abandoned lab that was in ruins many years ago, at that time the item was still unknown and is yet to be studied, but when it was discovered that it can ward low to medium leveled monsters a new change was about to be brought to the world, but since there's only 5 items similar to it, it was kept secret and was further studied so that they can figure out on how to recreate it with the world's current technology, and after years of trial and error it then became successful on recreating the item, it was then distributed to many town's, city's, and kingdom's

The dark age where humanity struggled to fight against the monsters that roam the surface came to a halt, but since it can only ward of low level to medium level monsters the threat is not necessarily gone, but monsters with danger level 6 rarely appear, so not many people worry about it

*Tear! Splat! Crack! Crunch! Rip! Gulp!*

The sound of flesh and blood splatting and tearing, the sound bones cracking and breaking, and the sound of something being eaten, the source of the sound was....

*Bang! Bang! Bang!

At a certain forest not far of to town, gunshots can be heard and the smell of gunpowder lingering in the air

*!!??SCREEEEEEE!!!!

A humanoid monster with black spikes and black line in the middle of its back, hallow eyes, large mouth, sharp blooded teeth, white fur and tail with a tip similar to a dagger with a strange carving is screeching in pain, if you look at its shoulder you can see blood dripping, one of the bullet's had hit its shoulder

It then quickly moved its head looking around trying to find the person who had shot it

*Bang!

Before the bullet hit, it jumped at the closest tree and it grabbed hold on the thick branch with its razor sharp claws while its head is locked at the source of the sound

*SCREEEEEEEEE!!!!!

It then jumped from tree to tree using its claws while rapidly approaching the source of the gunshot

"Geh, i missed!"

A person wearing a camouflage cloak is at the top of the tree while holding a long black rifle

*SCREEEEEEEEE!!!

In a blink of an eye the creature was already in front of the person and it attacked by using its tail tipped dagger

"WOAH!"

The person who was positioned there immediately jumped revealing the person's face, long blonde hair a little pale in color, jade colored eyes, round eyes with long eyelashes, and light colored pink lips

"Guh!, Dam it, your a fast one aren't you!"

When she landed at the ground unharmed she quickly raised her rifle and aimed at its head

*Bang!

It quickly moved its head to avoid the bullet and jumped at the tree to quickly charge at the girl in front of it

Seeing it charging at the girl, she quickly jumped at the side to avoid its attack while dropping a circular shaped bomb

*KIH!?

Noticing the danger, it quickly changed its position and used its tail to bounce the bomb back to the one who dropped it

"Wha!?"

When the bomb was now in front of her she quickly activated an item that deploys a small blue barrier the shape of a honeycomb, this type of item can only be used a few times and is not that strong but its enough to protect oneself against a type 2 bomb

"Guess what they said was true it being quick witted..."

*GRRRRRRR....!

*Drip...

"!"

The sound of blood dripping, the girl is not injured so its not coming from her

*Drip...

"...so you're finally getting serious huh?"

From the monsters hallow eyes blood was dripping, its a sign that its going to fight seriously

(.... I was planning on ending this quickly while it was busy eating, but at this rate... I might lose, should i retreat?, no, im in a forest it'll catch up to me in an instant with its speed, i need a plan to kill it quick... )

*C-crack

"!?"

*GRRRRRRRR!!

While preparing to attack, the sound of something approaching is being heard in the background but the monster in front of the girl didn't notice because it was to focused on killing what's in front of it, in other words her

*Crack!

The sound is getting louder

*Crack!

*!!?

The monster in front of the girl finally noticed the sound and presence of a third party and looked at the source of the sound, there, standing on all fours, another monster had made an appearance, covered in black fur with yellow patterns, a tail covered in spikes, four sharp claws on each hands and feet, fierce yellow looking eyes that screams of killing, mouth dripping in saliva, it stared at the monkey like monster

*KIIIIIIII!!!

The monkey like monster jumped at the top of a tree and tried to run away hastily

*GRAAAWR!!

But the newly appeared monster still managed to catch it, easily surpassing its speed and biting the monkey like monster by the neck and using its claws slice the tail to prevent it from countering back, and then....

*CRACK!

The loud sound of a bone breaking, the monkey like monster's neck is now twisted in an odd position and had now stopped moving, it was instantly killed

(Ahhhhhh! this is bad! this is bad! this is bad! why is there a danger level 3 beast here?! aren't they supposed to be on the deeper part of the forest!? why is it hear!?)

The girl was in a state of panic, her heart rate is now beating like an engine and is shaking and breathing excessively

The monster that had killed the monkey like monster who's mouth was still locked at the neck of its prey released its locked jaws and looked at the frightened girl with eyes that was seemingly interested

(HIHHH!! ahhhh! this is probably how im going to die! but i dont wanna die! i still have many things i want to do!)

A warm wet sensation was felt in her nether regions

(Ah.....)

The monster that was looking her way that seems to have lost interest looked away to look at the prey that it had killed, it then grabbed it by the neck again using its strong jaws and then draged it at the dark side of the forest

"....I-it...it ignored me?...ha...haha"

*Thud!

Her hands that was supporting her to sit up straight had lost its strength due to fear and she had fell on her back

(Dam it....)

Tears then begin to well up in her eyes, she cursed herself from being weak, in the face of death, she is but a powerless little girl, but....

"*Sniff...guh...ugh...."

(...No... crying wont do me anything good, to achieve what i wish and my dream....i need to become stronger...thats why before that....wait for me...onee-sama...)
