The hunt had gone well for us. We had managed to get a single Fawn and two rabbits, but the days were getting colder, and pray was becoming hard and harder to find. I knew that we would need to start preserving food or be in real trouble soon. It had taken us most of the early morning to hunt what we had found. I had not shared anything beyond my magic with Charlotte, yet even on the ARK, they had movies about Vampires, and none of them painted us in a good light.
Violet was scared that no one would want anything to do with me if they knew she was a vampire. Violet knew that today was the day we would go to the bunker and that Clarke and Bellamy would find the rifles, and that guy would try and kill Bellamy. On the bright side, she knew that she would be going with them. The bunker was a perfect place for a Portkey.
Violet had spent a long time thinking about how she would keep Charlotte and Clarke safe, and a Portkey was the best option. Even if they were taken by grounders or the people in the mountain, they could Portkey out of there and be somewhere safe. The small underground bunker that Finn and Clarke had found seemed like a good option, but it was small and cluttered, and I wasn't sure if that would cause a problem.
However, the bunker with the rifles had large open spaces and would be able to store food there without it spoiling and no one stealing it as Violet can use magic to secure it. Walking back into camp, we dropped off the prey that we had hunted at the smoking hut so they could preserve it. I could see that everyone else was preparing nuts and berries that I knew made you see things but wasn't able to tell anyone, not that I would. After all, I wanted Lincoln to get free. It would keep the grounders off us, and we can use it to set up a meeting with Anya.
Not only can I have a place to Portkey people, but I can also lay down a ton of protective charms and repelling charms, maybe even the Fidelius Charm. I may know the spell and how to do it, but there are many things that I don't know about the spell.
Can I cast it on something that I don't own?
What about something that has no owner?
How does one own something magically?
It was things like that which made me question if I would be able to cast the Fidelius Charm on the bunker.
If not, Violet was sure that she would be able to lay so many traps that getting into the bunker would be impossible for everyone without a Portkey or magic. After watching the last movie, she had spent ages looking up how Bellatrix had cursed her items in the vault and finally found how she did it using the Imbue Curse that let you add any curse, Jinx or Hex, to an object and then set how the magic was set off.
So she could imbue the handle of the door with well almost anything other than the unforgivable's such as the Choking Curse or the withering curse Voldemort placed on the Ring the number of ideas Violet had made her want to jump around in excitement. Violet also thought she should warn Charlotte not to touch things in the Bunker.
She had big plans for the bunker. Now thinking about it, Violet had initially wanted to live on Becca's island, but with ALIE 1.0 still active, the Island was a no go. She knew some drones had guns on them and who knows what else, and Violet didn't want Allie to become interested in her who knows what the AI could do. Once Allie was taken care of, she could take the Island then, but Violet didn't know how long that would be. After all, time wasn't really shown that well in a TV show, so it could be years away.
Violet was sure that it was around six months time before the mountain would fall, and then Clarke went missing for a few months, so she guessed it would be around about a year before Sky crew joined the Coalition then what maybe another four to five months before everyone found out about ALIE. Violet guessed that it would be about two years before the second wave of Praimfaya.
In that time, Violet wanted a base where she and Charlotte could live, and with magic, Violet could make the bunker the best place ever to live. It would take some time and trial with Runes. She knew that it used the old English language called Elder Futhark, but how they worked together, Violet had no clue, so trial and error was the only option.
But she can still make beds and Gubraithian Fire for light and warmth, add in cooling charms and warming charms, and the ability to make more food out of a small amount of food then people can live forever in the bunker as long as radiation doesn't kill them.
Looking around the camp, Violet wasn't able to see Clarke and guessed that she was already talking to the high-level people in the camp, telling Charlotte that she would be back in a minute. Violet walked into Clarke's tent and gave her a smile as she turned around and listened to what they were saying. Other than the bunker, Violet didn't remember much about this episode and didn't really care if Bellamy was killed or not.
After all, Bellamy never cared about the 300 people on the ARK that were killed due to him taking off the wristbands, and then he killed 300 grounders in their sleep with Pike and thought he was in the right about it, so it will be up to fate if Bellamy lives or dies. Violet would not kill him herself unless he did something that made her think that she would have to kill him, like try and stop her plans.
"Tell me about the grounder. Can he provide any insight on how to survive winter?" Jaha asked Clarke.
"We're doing everything we can to prepare here. We're gathering nuts and berries. Violet and Charlotte have been hunting and bringing us as much meat as possible to smoke.
But the truth of the matter is that we will no doubt freeze before we starve." Clarke said.
"Or the grounders will kill us for kidnapping and torturing one of their people", Violet added.
"Or that", Clarke agreed.
"Well, there is good news on one of those front", Kane said, showing us a tablet. I was hoping to see if magic and technology work together. I was sure they did, and the whole thing was rubbish. The purebloods started to keep the muggle and wizarding world apart, after all, Diagon Ally was in the middle of London, and electronics worked all around the area.
"According to civil defence plans from before the war, there's an old emergency aid depot not far from the landing site," Kane said, showing us the schematics to the bunker.
"Here are the coordinates," Kane said, pointing them out on the tablet.
"Well, it is worth a look, but I would guess the grounders will know about it and have looted it, so I doubt we will find food but shelter is always a good possibility, and that is better than nothing," Violet said, looking at the bunker and thinking about her plans maybe she and Charlotte can decorate it together.
"In addition to supplies, it could provide shelter for the 100 and for the citizens coming down from The Ark." The chancellor added.
"And what makes you think it's intact?" Clarke asked, thinking it may not even be there.
"It was designed to withstand nuclear warfare," Kane said.
"Ya, im sure many things were not sure they were designed to survive 100s of nukes, though", Violet whispered to herself.
"Chancellor, I have to object. Project Exodus is underway. The kids should sit tight in their camp until the first drop ship launches." A woman says I was sure I had seen her before, but she must have played a small role as I couldn't remember her name. Then again, I didn't know half of the names of the people on the council anyway.
Fucking bitch Violet thought. She got that sending them down was a desperate measure, one that she hated the ARK for when watching the show and even more so now that she could see the kids and actually talk to them, and Violet had no plans on ever listening to what they said when they got to the ground, she would either just live on her own with Charlotte or live with the grounders. Violet knew that they were good people, so living with them was fine, and with magic, she and Charlotte could live a good life.
Violet had not yet decided if she was going to turn Charlotte and if she was when she was going to do it. At the moment, Violet thought she was far too young and, in the end, decided that she would wait till she was roughly the same age as herself. After all, she was only twelve; the last thing she needed was an immortal child running around.
Violet had zoned out while thinking about whether she would turn Charlotte into a vampire or not. By the time she was paying attention again, she could see that something that Jaha had said had made Clarke angry if she had to guess, it must have been about Clarke, and her mother, Violet, didn't know anything else that could set her off like that.
Clarke had stood up and looked at Violet.
"Let's go; Dax is next," Clarke said, leaving the tent walking out. Clarke shouted for Dax and asked a few people before finding him and telling him that he was up next.
"Let's tell Bellamy that we are going on a day trip, and I need to check on Finn to make sure his wound is healing okay. Can you go get us some rations, and then we will be on our way," Clarke said, heading off to the dropship.
Violet was curious how things would go for Bellamy. After all, she knew, he was planning on running off to escape being brought to justice instead of trying to make a deal that she could only think was stupid. Maybe he would be alive when we got back, or perhaps he would be dead, or he will have escaped without Dax being able to kill him. That was a possibility as well.
Violet walked over to the ration bin and picked out some bags of meat and some pouches of water, and left the nuts and berries behind, not wanting her or Clarke to get drugged up with the nuts while out on the day trip. Violet wasn't even sure if the nuts would work on her but was unwilling to take the chance. Violet also had some tinned food that she had found in the bunker that Finn had found that Clarke and Finn must have both missed, so they had enough food to last the day, and getting lost wasn't a possibility with her vampire enhanced memory.
Violet found Charlotte and told her she and Clarke were going on a day trip and that she should stay in camp and help out and also informed her not to eat the nuts as she didn't know if they were 100% safe, so she should stick to the smoked meat. Walking to the exit, she waited for Clarke placing her bow on her back just in case they needed it to hunt or defend themselves. Violet hadn't seen or heard any grounders watching their camp in over the last five days, and it was making her a little uneasy.
"Ready to go?" Clarke asked as she walked up out of a tent.
"Yep, I have enough food for the day and a half, which would last two days if we need it," Violet told Clarke, and we set off walking through the forest till we got to a clearing.
"You know the first drop ship is going to come down soon," Clarke said, and I thought about how I knew it would crash, and in the end, they would bring the entire ARK down to the ground.
"Yep, I would guess within the week, maybe two weeks max", I replied, keeping my eyes and ears open for any grounders or pray that I could hunt.
"What do you think is going to happen to Bellamy?" Clarke asked me.
"Well, he will either run away and die to the grounders, Or he will be killed by whoever told him to kill Jaha in the first place, or he can cut a deal with Jaha," I said, thinking about the only three options he has. I knew he would try the first one before even thinking about offering a deal.
"What do you mean who told him to?" Clarke asked, shocked.
"Well, Bellamy shot him to get on the dropship. It was not like he had a gun hidden in his room. Someone gave it to him and told him to kill Jaha, and they would sneak him on the dropship. Knowing that he failed, they will try and get rid of him so he can't tell Jaha who he is.
If I had to guess they are high ranking in guard, it is the only way for them to get a gun and give it to Bellamy and to sneak him onto the dropship," Violet said with a shrug.
Clarke was too shocked to reply as we climbed up on the hill and saw the ruins of something Violet didn't think that looked much like an Airbase. There was a tower-like structure, but that was most likely a water tower, some kind of horse statue in the centre of what was now a tiny lake and something that could have been a petrol station. It was called country something.
"Well, let's get looking for this bloody door. It was no doubt built into the hillside." Violet said, looking around, no doubt guessing it was buried under grass and moss.
"Amazing", Clarke said as they slit up to cover more ground. Violet was sure it was safe to do so as she couldn't hear the heartbeat of any other humans near them. Of course, there was always the chance that the mountain was watching them through a sniper or maybe even a drone, but Violet wasn't sure if they even had any drones.
Looking around, Violet wondered what this place looked like before the bombs. The world of The 100 was over thirty years in the future compared to Violet's original world. Even then, they were far more advanced than her old world would be in 2050, seeing as they had already started long term missions to other planets and was able to cryo-freeze people so they could live for hundreds of years. Still, they also had petrol cars when in her world they had started to move to electric vehicles in 2020.
"Violet over here", Clarke called out, and Violet put the thought out of her mind as she walked towards Clarke. Maybe she could find a phone or the computers in mount weather would have pictures saved on them from 100 years ago. Violet also hoped to travel and see more of this world. After all, Disneyland should be in this country as well. Violet thought she really needed to get a phone to take pictures and guessed Becca's lab was the most likely place to find one.
Violet walked up to see what Clarke was looking at and was greeted with a large grass cover metal hatch covered in rust with two large handles.
"Well, I think this is it," Violet said to Clarke, smiling and grabbed one of the sides as Clarke grabbed the other.
"On three," Clarke asked.
"One, Two, Three", and we both pulled, and the door opened easy for Violet given her vampire strength but looked much harder for Clarke.
Opening the door, they saw stairs with cobwebs everywhere.
"Great spiders," Violet said. Even as a vampire, she still hated the creepy things.
"You don't like spiders?" Clarke asked, surprised that Violet showed some hesitance to go down due to some small spiders.
Clarke went down first and handed Violet a light so that she could see and look around.
"So you think this has been left alone since the war?" Clarke asked.
"Seems likely the grounders must have been in a bunker that was more long term, and the door was rusted shut, which is a good sign. If they knew about it, why not live in the bunker?" Violet asked, knowing people did live down here, but the radiation got in, and everyone would have died in a few hours of closing the doors.
This bunker may have been designed to survive a nuke, but it was not designed for people to live in as the wall says it's a Depot, not a survival shelter.
Violet followed Clarke as she walked to the left and came to some stairs to walk down, and she came across a skeleton.
"Guess that answers if people have been living or using this bunker. They would have removed the body if it was in use." Violet said, giving Clarke a nudge to carry on walking down. Violet knew she could vanish everything down here if needed. Looking around, she hoped that she could get the Lumos spell to work with runes that would be far better than having everlasting fire all over the place.
"So much for living down here. This place is disgusting." Clarke said, looking around.
"It's not so bad. I could make it work," Violet said
Clarke raised her eyebrow and pointed to the ceiling where a stream of water was pouring in.
Violet smirked and held her hand out "Lumos Maxima", and a blinding ball of light hovered in Violet's hand before she threw it above their heads, and it flashed, lighting up the entire bunker.
"What the hell is that," Clarke asked, stepping away and keeping a guarded look at Violet with her eye flicking to the light before snapping back to Violet.
Violet knew it was a risk, but they were here alone, and if it went wrong, then she could always use the obliviate charm to make her forget and then the fake memory charm to make Clarke think she had fallen down and knocked herself out even if she hated the idea of doing so to her favourite person in the camp.
"Magic," Violet said, holding her hands up to look less threatening.
"What the hell you on about. There is no such thing as magic," Clarke said, edging further away or as much as she could in the narrow supply room there were in.
Violet just pointed at the floating light and waited know that Clarke would need some time to come to terms with the whole idea of magic and then guessed that it would be hours of questions she would have to get both her and Charlotte together to explain all about magic. Violet was sure if they were not hunting last night, then Charlotte would have spent the entire night asking about magic and knew she was bristling with questions.
"It's a trick somehow. Im not sure how but it is," Clarke said, looking at the light again.
"Hmm, okay," Violet said and pointed at the ground.
"Wait, what are you doing?" Clarke asked with a slightly frightened tone.
"I thought magic wasn't real?" Violet asked before saying "Leosortia", and right at her feet, a lion cub appeared out of thin air, making Clarke jump back in fright.
"What what.." Clarke stuttered out, looking at the live Lion cub currently rubbing up against Violet's leg.
"See a Lion cub. I should have made a wizards hat and pulled it out of the hat damn next time," Violet said, thinking about it.
"But," Clarke said, trying to wrap her head around what she was seeing. Clarke looked at the Lion cub and then the floating light and back to the Lion cub before looking at Violet again.
"Magic?" Clarke asked again.
"Yep, magic", Violet confirmed. She did wonder how muggle parents reacted in the Harry Potter world and almost started giggling with the fun she would have had if she had been able to do home visits.
"Okay, just get rid of the Lion cub," Clarke said, not taking her eyes off it.
Violet thought for a second. "Ah yes, well err, I don't know how…." Violet said lamely.
"What do you mean you don't know," Clarke asked in a panicked tone.
Well, it's not like I went to wizard or witch school. It was blown up," Violet said, knowing she would never tell anyone that she was from a different universe or dimension.
"But you summoned it!!" Clarke said, pointing at the Lion cub.
"Yes, we have passed on magic spells down the family, but my ancestors didn't know every spell in the world. We had books for that so we could look them up if we needed them," Violet said with a shrug.
"What do we do with that Lion then," Clarke asked.
"Well, he's cute, and Charlotte wanted a pet," Violet said innocently.
"NO, we can't have a pet, Lion. How are we going to explain that Lions live in Africa, not America" Clarke said, panicking.
"Well, there was Lions in America around 350 thousand years ago", Violet mumbled.
"Oh great, hey guys, we found this Lion from 350 thousand years ago," Clarke said sarcastically.
"Okay, well, I could try the vanishing charm, but that was made for objects and not living animals.." Violet suggested.
"I thought you said you didn't know the spell to get rid of the Lion", Clarke asked.
"Well, I said it was for objects and not living things like a Lion cub im 90% sure it will just kill it," Violet said, looking at the cub.
"Is that really the only option?" Clarke asked again, looking at the cub.
"Yep, it may vanish on its own, but it will die in the wild as it doesn't know how to hunt in this area," Violet said, thinking about it some more.
"Well, let's go with that and hope it goes back to where it came from," Clarke said, looking sad at the Lion cub.
Violet pointed at the cub and cast the Vanishing Charm, and the cub bust into a small cloud of black smoke which cleared to show the cub gone.
"Well, it's gone. Not a clue what happened to it tho" Violet said as she looked at the floating light and turned to start looking around the room.
"Wait, wait, we need to talk about this magic," Clarke said.
"Ya, but we can still look around", Violet replied. Clarke nodded and started looking around the room far easier now there was a good amount of light.
"Is there anything magic can't do?" Clarke asked.
"Yep, a few things. You can't bring the dead back to life, You can't make food out of thin air, You can't make gold unless you have a philosopher's stone which I don't have and a few other things, but they are the main ones" Violet explained as the looked around.
"Magic can be broken into a few main groups Charms, Transfiguration, Conjuration, Curses, Hexes, Jinxes, Healing spells, Protective Spells, Potions, Runes And Wards.
Each one has its own roles, and Wards are like protective spells but can be much longer-lasting and far more powerful but harder to set up." Violet explained, knowing she would have to go more in-depth later on but wanted only to have to do it once, so she would find a time to talk to both Charlotte and Clarke.
"Transfiguration is changing one thing into another, right?" Clarke asked.
"Yep, but I can't turn things into food as once the magic has run out, it would change back into whatever it was original," Violet said, knowing where she was going with that thought.
"But you can change it into other things, right?" Clarke asked.
"Yep, I can turn a stick into a sword or a gun. If I knew how one worked well enough, I can change clothing or make necklaces," Violet said, pointing to the necklace Clarke was wearing that Violet had given her.
"This was made by magic?" Clarke asked, looking at the necklace.
"Yep, but that was Conjuration as it can be permanent", Violet said.
"Hey, I found blankets," Clarke said, opening a case.
Violet walked over to look at them.
"Well, I can make them larger and waterproof anything beyond that, and people would ask questions we can't answer.
"Wait, why are you keeping it a secret?" Clarke asked, confused.
Violet wasn't sure what sort of history the ARK teachers the kids growing up, and she didn't know if they talked about the witch hunts from four or five hundred years ago.
"Well, to avoid anything like the Salem witch trials, being burned alive isn't my idea of good fun. And even if the 100 or the ARK didn't do that, you don't know if the grounders would accept that I can do magic and if I can do it, then maybe all of the people on the ARK can, and they will try to kill everyone. It is too big of a risk." Violet said, looking at the barrels that she knew were filled with guns and ammo.
Violet knew that she could just use the Geminio charm to make an infinite amount of bullets and guns but wasn't sure if that was the best option, after all, she really wanted to avoid the whole war with them it would make their entire life a lot easier the problem is that she can't force the 100 to listen to her if they wanted to fight she couldn't really stop it wasn't like she could just kill everyone that wanted to fight them as most of the 100 wanted to fight back.
"If we could get guns, should we?" Violet asked Clarke.
"I want to say no, but peace requires that both sides want it. If the grounders don't want peace, what can we do other than fight" Clarke said as she checked the other boxes.
Violet fell into thought Clarke was right. Unless the grounders wanted peace, then it would never happen, and if they didn't have guns, they wouldn't stand a chance at fighting them. She and Charlotte were the only ones good with a bow, and the rest couldn't aim or use a sword.
Violet made her decision and, hoping that it was the right one, kicked over the barrel and head guns clatter to the floor. Clarke came over and looked at the guns before looking at Violet.
"I don't like the idea we need these", Clarke said, looking at the guns.
"Well, the limiting factor will be the ammo. As long as we keep in control of that, we can control how many people can fire said guns.
"We will have to give them up when the guard comes down as well," Clarke said, thinking about the logistics of the guns.
"That seems like a you problem. When the guard comes down, Charlotte and I are leaving." Violet said as she wrapped the guns up in a blanket and conjured some rope to tie them up with and carry them back to camp.
"What, why would you leave?" Clarke asked.
"The ARK not the normal people but the ones in charge that if we stay, we will have to live under sent us here to die. They didn't think the ground was livable. If they did, they would have sent some guards or asked for volunteers, but they didn't as they thought we would all die and that we were disposable.
I have no plans of living under people that would willingly kill 100 children," Violet explained as she picked the guns up and summoned all the bullets into another plastic case like the blankets were in.
"For all you know, if the grounders ask for all of the 100 in exchange for peace, the leaders of the ARK would just hand us over", Violet added on.
Violet knows what would actually happen is they would become hypocrites and say, now we are on the ground, every life matters like when Finn kills 18 grounders, many of them old people or children they refuse to hand him over. Oh, on the ARK, you stole an extra slice of bread well, you got to die on earth, oh you killed 18 people well we can forgive that.
Clarke didn't reply and looked away know she had nothing to say after she learned how her mother and fathers best friend decided to kill him to keep him quiet instead of trying to talk him out of it.
"Right, let's head back. I will clean this place up bit by bit, and then if we have to, at least we have somewhere to hide," Violet said, looking around as the Lumos spell was starting to fade.
The walk back to camp was a quiet one. Both Violet and Clarke had many things to think about. Violet hoped that Clarke would be a tiny bit more selfish, knowing how much pain she went through due to trying to hello Skycrew over and over even when Skycrew did things wrong, like when Pike killed 300 sleeping Trikru.
Walking back into camp Violet couldn't see Bellamy anywhere and was curious to know if he was alive or dead. Violet also looked for Dax but couldn't see him either.
"He's gone. The grounder is gone." Miller came running out of the Dropship, shouting, causing the entire group to start panicking.
"What if he brings other grounders back? He'll kill us all. Or worse." Violet could hear people saying to each other and panicking.
Clarke stood up, and the group turned to look at her. She opened the box to show everyone the guns they had found in the depo.
"These are weapons, ok, not toys, and we have to be prepared to give them up to the guard when the dropships come, but until then, they're gonna help keep us safe," Clarke said, picking up a rifle and showing everyone.
"And there are plenty more where these came from. Tomorrow we start training, and if we have to, we will fight back, but let's hope that doesn't happen," Violet said, standing next to Clarke.
After calming the group down and showing them the guns and ammo, Violet walked off to find Charlotte sitting next to the tree they usually slept next to and covered her in one of the blankets they had gotten from the bunker that Violet had cast a warming charm on.
Looking to her left, Violet saw Bellamy walking back into camp with a bag that looked full of food and a bloody and beaten face. Violet guessed he won the fight between him and Dax. Maybe now he would be willing to make a deal with Jaha and follow her and Clarke's lead, and if not, well, there are many ways to kill someone with magic.
