chapter 28

He rushed down and threw open the doors leading to his garden and was stunned.

"I'm okay. I'm okay" she said getting up while dusting herself off.

But what was more shocking to him was the figure next to her.

A fucking puppy. Wagging its fucking tail with its fucking tongue out.

He unconsciously reached out to his little girlfriend to check if she hurt herself or not.

"I didn't hurt myself because I fell on your lush-y green grass. See no bruises. It just leapt out on me." She twirled around.

He turned towards the puppy and scowled.

" What the fuck is this thing doing here?" he said in dismay.

" Hey! Don't address him like that. He's so cute and lovely and precious and sweet and soooo adorable." she said cooing uncontrollably.

" And do you have anymore adjectives left?" he asked baffled by her admiration for the furry creature.

" Yeah he's so fluffy and soft and-"

" God woman it was a rhetorical question."

" I'm keeping him. IF he isn't anyone's already." She said murmuring the last part.

" Why would you want to keep it?"

" Why wouldn't I? I just said he's so cute and-"

" Ok" he said running a hand down his face.

She beamed at him and then crouched down to stroke his brown fur.

He purred.

And she went "Awwwwww"

"Zaii look look look he loves me already. Isn't he adorable." she said pulling his trousers a little to get his attention.

But his attention was already stolen by a certain long haired beauty. Far more beautiful than a furry creature.

"Zai?" she tapped his belly thrice.

"Yeah?"

"I said can we go and check if there's been any missing report for him tomorrow?"

" Mhmm sure. Now let's give him a bath because we don't know where he has been or where he has come from and I am not letting him roam around my house like that. He even looks like a disease." He whispered the last part glaring at the dog.

" Yes yes"

They took him inside and into the bathroom that was downstairs.

"He is a Cockapoo." he said holding the pull out faucet while she gently shampooed him.

" Oh? Never heard of it."

" It's a crossbreed bred from a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle."

" Ohhhhhh no wonder it resembles a Poodle so much. I thought that was his breed."

" It's okay" he replied stroking her head from his other hand.

They dried him off and Ailee took him out in her arms.

Xavier was definitely not jealous of a few months old puppy.

He followed her up into his room where she laid him down on his bed and finally turned to look at him.

"I'm going to shower now. Will you look after him for me please? "

How could he say no to that face?

He simply nodded while Ailee jumped on him and peppered kisses all over his face and neck.

"Thank you. You're the bessssst you know that?"

He chuckled at her behavior while holding onto her like a toddler.

"I do"

"Good" she said giving him a final kiss on his forehead like one would to a baby.

She slipped down and ran to his closet, pulled out his sweat shirt and boxers smiling sheepishly at him while walking to the bathroom.

He smiled and shook his head.

They've come a far way. From her not being able to talk properly to her boldly ordering him around and stealing his clothes.

Yes the previous set of clothes she borrowed are still with her only.

A 'woof' brought him back from his trance.

He looked at the source of the sound and found him running in circles on his bed.

He went and sat on the edge and immediately the puppy started rubbing himself on him.

"Are you a fucking cat or what? Get the fuck away from me."

he nudged him gently.

But it didn't move but settled more cozily on his lap.

He scowled but unknowingly started combing through his fur while waiting for her to come outside.

The dog fell asleep and he was feeling drowsy himself because of the medicines kicking in and because he hasn't slept well these past few days.

She came out and almost cried at the sight.

Quietly fishing out her phone from her purse she snapped a few good pictures of her man with the most adorable little puppy on his lap.

She giggled and advanced towards them. She very delicately took the puppy in her hands making him jerk open his eyes.

"Oops sorry. You should lie down properly, you must be tired."

He yawned loudly and nodded.

He went under the covers and patted the space next to him.

She quickly turned off the lights save for the night lamp and snuggled in his arms not before making a bed of pillows for the unnamed puppy on her right side.

It didn't take him more than ten minutes to drift off to slumber but he did heard her saying 'get well soon baby' and a kiss on his forehead.

The next morning he woke up cuddling with his tiny girlfriend and the puppy as if that's what he's been doing since birth.

Ailee on his left and the Cockapoo on his right.

He coughed a little which caused her to stir a little and then jolt up.

"Are you okay? Water?" she said clumsily stumbling out of the bed and immediately fetching him a glass of water from the nightstand.

He looked at her holding it out to him with her eyes squinted, trying her best to open them but they both knew it would take her more than that to wake up completely.

He accepted the glass while thanking her.

She nodded and checked her phone for the time.

It was 6 in the morning so she lied down close to him not wanting to make him uncomfortable in his current condition.

Two minutes later she sat up straight once again and looked at him then looked at the baby next to him. Suddenly remembering the dog.

"You both look so cute. I'mma cryyyy" she spoke in a low voice cautious of waking it up.

He rolled his eyes at her dramaticness.

She stroke his fur for sometime and then excused herself to pee.

By the time she got done with her business she realised there was no point of going back to sleep now and she was kinda excited to spend some time with the cuties outside.

She freshened up quickly and ran back to her sweethearts to find them still in bed.

She moved to his side and checked his temperature. His fever barely went down which got her worried.

"You will rest all day Zai, this is code red."

"I can't there's too much work and Luka isn't here" he said shifting the puppy to the middle of the bed and kissed her forehead. He stood up and disappeared into the bathroom.

"You listen to me Xavier Romano DeVinci, it is okay to take a break. If you won't be well then what is the point of all this." she said trailing behind him to the bathroom.

He sighed.

"Tomorrow" he said washing his face.

" No today"

" Mhmmm alright alright" he replied with toothbrush in his mouth.

Satisfied, she left the bathroom and went to the kitchen to make them some breakfast, also ordering a packet of dog food on her way.

He came down and had his breakfast which was a little extra healthy for him but he wasn't complaining, it felt nice to have someone nag him for these things out of care.

Sometime later the puppy waddled his way to them and Ailee squealed grabbing him in her arms and served him a bowl of dog food which got delivered a few minutes ago.

"What time you want to leave to look for his owners?"

"Not today. Maybe tomorrow, if you start feeling better that is."

" I am capable of going outside for a bit I believe."

" I don't. We stay inside" she ordered pointing the fork in his direction.

"Okay"

"Coco?"

" Hmm?" she looked at him with a soft smile on her face.

"If we have to give it back to it's rightful owners, don't get sad or worse cry. I'll get you a new one."

Her heart swelled with happiness.

Who knew he would turn out to be the most thoughtful person she could've ever imagined to meet?

"Thank you. Hurry up and get back to your fullest so that we can do many things together."

" Like what?" he asked, pulling her on his lap.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and pretended to think.

" Hmm like dates or shopping or picnics or anything you like."

"Hmm I can certainly do all of it even now. Want me to prove it?" he buried his face in her hair.

She giggled and held both his ears, rubbing them with her thumbs.

"No. I know you can because you're a strong man but I don't want you to. So you'll have to recover fast and obey everything I say."

"I always do-"

Woof woof

He glared at the dog.

" Thank you for ruining the moment fucker." he said.

Ailee gasped.

" Zai that was rude."

" Yeah what he did was rude."

She shook her head and went out in the garden with the two puppies trailing behind her.

"Shall I read you a book?" she asked turning around and jumping a little in pure excitement.

"I would never say no" he replied going to sit on the bench.

"Wait right here" she scurried off.

Minutes later she came out running and laughing while the short legged puppy chased after her.

"He's so cute"

"Yeah you said it a million times"

"But that isn't enough"

"It sure is"

" Whatever. Zai I want you to go to your office me and pupper have an idea."

" I thought I was on rest today?" he asked baffled by her change of mind.

" Yes sugar you're going to rest" she said pushing him inside.

" Why not in the bedroom?"

" Because I said so but no touching your files. You can watch Despicable Me or tangled on your laptop I suggest."

" This is suspicious as fuck Coco"

" You gonna love it I promise."

Still confused he walked back inside.

After confirming he actually went inside and not peeking, she grinned and gave a forced high five to the puppy.

" Let's do it baby"
