UNEXPECTED CALL

"Love! Your phone is ringing! Someone is calling you!" Edge exclaimed from the bedroom.

"Wait a minute!" I shouted back while finishing washing the dishes.

I heard Edge walking towards the counter, so I looked back. I saw him put down my phone on the countertop. I guess he is rush again.

"See you later, love." He said in a rush tone as he kissed my forehead before going outside.

I did not say anything, I saw the door shut, so I shrugged as I took my phone on the countertop. I waited for my phone to ring again. And it was ringing.

It was my friend, Kristine.

"Hello, sis? What is up now?" I greet.

"You were gone for two months. Where the earth is you?" She asked in furious.

"I am in Quezon City by now. Calm down. I will be going back after signing my new contract. By the way, why did you call me all of a sudden?" I asked back.

"Girl, you need to explain everything to me." She seriously said.

"Explain what?" I confusedly asked.

"I came to your trusted doctor in hospital a while ago." She started.

"Then what happened there?" I said as I walked into the living room and sat down.

"I was waiting for my brother Kent after his physical examination. Your doctor saw me accidentally. He leads me to his office, we casually talking about our lives until he accidentally told me about your condition right now. I am sorry about it. Hope you were doing great, not depressed." She explained calmly.

I gasped and dropped my phone on the couch, but I pick it immediately.

"Does Edge know it already?" She curiously asked.

"I broke up with him the day I came here. But he disagreed with my decision and wished my last 10000 hours with him. I lied to him to hide it. I do not have any courage to tell him my condition right now. So, I decided to hurt him without any explanation or reason to explain myself to him." I explain in a sad tone.

"I also disagreed with you this time, girl, not this time. If you keep hide it from him, what if he finds it? What if he will still stay even though you were ill? What if he does something about your illness? What about adoption if you wanted to raise a child?" She assumed hopelessly.

I kept myself quiet because she was right, and she has a point about everything now.

"But, have you gone on a second opinion to another doctor or ob-gyn?" She suddenly asked.

"No, not yet. I am freaking scared for another bad result on me again." I casually said.

"But you should do it, girl. Maybe the doctor diagnosed you with a wrong result or something?" She said frankly.

"If that was the case, my doctor might lose his license as a doctor. But I was too scared, sis." I said calmly.

"Do not worry, girl, you can call me when you go back here. I will be there for you." She said.

"Thanks, sis. I will." I smiled.

"By the way, how are you with Edge these days?" She asked.

"Same as before when we were in college, sis. Sometimes we fought in little things, and then, later on, we were good again like a cycle. Well, that is what is always happened in every relationship. It was too boring if we do not experience those worst situations." I said casually.

"I cannot relate, girl. Stop it." She joked out.

I just laughed at her.

"By the way, I was almost going out in the calendar. Do you already found my match?" She asked.

"I thought you were going to be a sister in the church if you still do not have any relationship after the age of twenty-five?" I joked out.

"Hey! You forgot my religion now." She reasoned out.

"Just kidding, all the guys I know are out of your type. By now, you still not encountered your so-called Mr. Right?" I casually asked to tease her.

"I would not ask you if I already found him by now." She explained in disbelief.

I laughed. "Just wait for or just find in the ocean of jerks?"

"If you say so, girl, but do I hear it right, ocean of jerks? What a term." She laughed.

"By the way, are not you in your class by now?" I asked.

"Oh my gosh! Thanks, girl. I need to go! Catch up later! I will call you again! Bye! Take care! See you soon!" She panicked as she hung up.

I laughed as I put down my phone on the center table, and I sighed.

"Do I need to go on a second opinion?" I asked myself.

I slept on the couch for almost 4 hours, but I woke up when Edge called me to check me out as I cooking my lunch until he said will go back to the site.

I slept again after I ate my lunch. But I woke up again in a call from Kristine. I guess it was already 5 pm. We catch up on everything since I was not at work for almost two months.

I was laughing the whole time.

When Kristine, gossiping about the embarrassing moments with her dogs, our co-workers, and there hang out with our closest friends every weekend. Also, she told me those missed events that I was not to attend since I was here in Quezon City.

We stopped talking when Edge arrived. I just prepared our dinner as he sat down at the counter, and he asked how my day today is. I told him everything except the topic of my illness.

"Are you planning to go with me when I will going back to Pangasinan after my schedule in signing my new contract in Makati City by next Friday?" I casually asked while eating my meal.

"Yes. But I need to clear my schedule first. Maybe by next Friday. It will be good." He explained before drinking his water.

I nodded as I stood up and put all the dishes in the sink to wash them.

"I will do the dishes." He volunteered.

"Since you did the cooking earlier." He added.

I let him instead of arguing with him.
