MISUNDERSTANDING

"I told you not to go there!" Edge yelled at me.

"I'm just helping the kiddo! He needed someone to help him out!" I reasoned out.

"But look what happened to you!" He exclaimed.

"I …I just wanted to help him, that's all." I sadly stated while looking down and walked myself out there as I sat down in the bedroom to check the cut in my left arm.

Earlier was a little misunderstanding.

I was walked outside of the condominium when I saw a boy sitting on the pavement like waiting for someone. I approached him about what he was doing there.

"Hey, kiddo! What are you doing here alone?" I casually asked.

"My mother left me here. She told me to wait for her here, but it's already three hours." He explained.

"Where do you live, kid?" I asked.

"I lived at my aunt's house …over there." He politely answered while pointing to the convenience store in front of us.

"It's not safe here to be alone, kiddo. Do you want me to send you to your aunt?" I asked.

"I don't want to, Miss. My aunt kicked me out a while ago as my mother gets me out there, but she left me here alone for three hours." He replied.

I nodded and thinking about staying here. "Do you want me to stay here for a while? So that you have some accompanied while you were waiting for your mother?"

"I'm okay here, Miss. You can go now. I will be fine here." He politely said.

I was debating with myself if I were to leave him alone or stay here for a while.

Suddenly my phone rang. Edge is calling me. I excused myself in the kiddo.

"Hello?" I answered while looking at the kid.

"Where are you, love?" He asked.

"I'm outside of the condominium." I replied.

"I'm already here in the condo. I haven't seen you outside. So, where are you?" He seriously asked.

"I told you I'm outside. I've accompanied kiddo here. The kiddo is alone here, and we were waiting for mother. If you don't believe me, check me here at the mini-park in front of the condo." I seriously explained as I hang up.

"Are you okay, Miss?" The kiddo asked.

I smiled at him and nodded.

"Are you hungry?" I approached.

"I'm fine." He shortly answered.

"Do you have any contact number for your mother?" I asked.

He shook his head.

"May I asked where did your mother go three hours ago?" I asked again.

He shook his head again.

I stayed there for almost an hour until an old lady harshly grabbed the kiddo. I stood up and pulled back the kid, but he is crying already as he was asking me to hide him from the old lady. "I don't want to go with her. Please hide me, Miss."

"Ma'am, may I know who you are? It seems that you are too harsh by pulling him, and he doesn't want to go with you." I politely approached.

She raised her eyebrow at me like I said something wrong to her.

"I am his mother. So please don't meddle here. Mind your own business, Miss. Let's go, Nathan." She madly answered.

I looked down to the kiddo to confirm what the old lady said, but he shook his head.

I looked back at the old lady, but he was harshly pulling the kiddo away from me again.

I heard Edge's voice calling me. I looked in his direction, but it's a wrong decision because the old lady pulled the kiddo away from me as she walked out. Edge was shouting at me not to follow them. But I felt my conscience when I remember the kiddo crying for help to me earlier. I run after them. The old lady makes a scene like I was kidnapping her child that attracted some people around us. Another old lady came to us.

"Stay away from my son! You abusive sister!" She shouted at the old lady, who is harshly pulling the kiddo.

"Mama, help me!" The kid cried.

"Don't worry, son. Mama is here." She hugged the kiddo.

But the old lady rushed towards us with some sharp thing as I protect them by parrying the sharped thing with my left arm. The old lady run away when she saw my big cut and blood is flowing as the police officer run after her. An officer came towards us, but Edge already pulled me away from the crowd as we went to his condo unit. He madly shouted at me without hearing my explanation and hasn't seen my big cut on the left arm. Thanks for my red hoodies.

Almost an hour, I was cleaned my wound and changed my clothes when I heard Edge knocking on the door and asking me to go out there.

"Coming!" I shouted.

I saw the kid and the mother sitting on the couch.

"Thank you for protecting my son earlier, and I'm sorry when my sister got hurt you back then." The mother apologized.

"It's fine, and you're welcome, Ma'am." I happily said while patting the kid's head and smiling at him.

Edge butt in the conversation. "They told me what happened earlier."

"Luckily, I won't go to the hospital, or else I will sue your sister, Ma'am." I joked out.

Edge looked at me seriously, so I shrugged and looked back at him.

"Thank you so much, Miss." The kid said.

We bid our goodbyes when I send them out. As the door shut, we came into awkward silence in our living room. Before I excused myself to go back into our room, Edge grabbed my left arm to stop me as he saw my wound there. I pulled my arm and blankly stared at him as I waited for him to talk about why he stopped me.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier." He calmly said.

I shrugged.

"I'm sorry, love. Please talk to me." He begged.

"Apology accepted, Edge, but sometimes before you yelled at me, please try to hear me out first. And let me rest for a while." I said in a low tone as I walked into the bedroom.
