The once towering mountains

"Hey system " I put down my pen as the horrid idea kept glaring at my brain.

[Yes... ] as if aware of what I am about to ask, the system softly replied.

"Answer me truthfully, can you split your soul into multiple pieces. " I asked but the answer was already clear inside my mind.

[Yes.] the system replied.

"Can you seal those multiple pieces of your soul into various objects. " I asked my next question.

[Yes.]

"Final question... If one piece of your soul is destroyed... can you still be revived using the other remaining pieces. "

[Yes... ] the system softly replied.

'Moryo is still alive... ' this words kept playing inside my head as my emotions cascaded down on me. My memories thrashing me against the rocky seashore. A single question repeating itself, weighing me down like a mountain at my head. My life inside the forest, my fight with Moryo,

'Was all this for nothing? '

*Hooo* I breathe out and forcibly calmed myself, something the previous me could never have. I guess this is what the system means by adapting my mind to the world.

'Moryo being alive is nothing but a conjecture that I made based on my fabricated assumptions, I shouldn't lose my mind over it since it may be false but even if it is true...

I just have to kill him again.' I thought as my Mangekyo activated on its own, unaware of it myself.

'I have other things to take care of right now. '

"What's the time right now system? " I asked as I remembered my appointment with the Head warden.

[10:00 PM master. ] the system politely replied.

"We should get going then, can't keep a grumpy old man waiting for us now, can we? " I spoke in a light hearted tone which was fake or not, even I couldn't tell.

I took out my cloak and put up my mask, it was of no use since the head warden already knew my face but maybe even if I couldn't hide my face then I can atleast hide the turmoil inside of me.

It was almost poetical, put on my mask and hide my expression from the world. Do not show them what you are thinking and etc etc.

I thought as I used my Mangekyo sharingan and vanished into the vortex of space and time.

3rd person's POV:

Lion's gate mountain range,

The snow fell on the barren mountains like a late monsoon's hailstorm. No vegetation could be seen in this wasteland of white as the snowstorm lasting throughout the year rendered any plant or animal incapable of living here.

Such harsh conditions made this place an alien to the ecosystem yet on the other hand, it also made it pristine and untouched.

Isolated and tranquil for ages unknown.

But today it was different as amongst the heavy snow fall, the space was ripped apart as a hole appeared in the fabric of space and time and spiralled like a vortex. A man in a cloak and a mask appeared inside from it.

Arthur's POV:

The first thing that greeted me after arriving here for the first time was the heavy cascade of snow fall and the onslaught of below freezing temperature winds.

Lion gate's mountain range, below which the prison castle stood.

I don't know why did he call me here or where he is in this huge mountain range. It would be kind of funny if this was a trap and he is just lying in wait with his army to ambush me.

[You are awfully confident don't you think? ] the system interrupted my train of thoughts.

"I have the kamui with me, what is there to be afraid of? " I rebutted light heartedly, it's not that I was overconfident about my abilities, it's just that my mind was too occupied at that moment.

The probabilities of Moryo being alive, the Wu patriarch being an informant, the city Lord being a part of this and the demonic order infiltrating most of the sects in this world.

My thoughts were already too full to focus on this matter so I decided to take it easy for a while and let my mind relax.

[Do you know where we will find the head warden in this huge mountain range? ] the system asked as the snowy white mountains stood in front of us for miles unknown.

[I don't but we have 30 minutes in our hands so let's wander here and there until we find him. ] I smiled and took my first step in the snow and what do you know? my feet sunk in inside the thick snow and made me unable to take another step!

Forcibly I pushed the snow aside through my feet and drag myself while being half sunken, I started making progress. One foot at a time.

We were moving alright, but at the pace of a tortoise.

[This is gonna take forever! ] the system shouted inside my head.

3rd person's POV:

After 10 minutes, a figure in black cloak was walking magically above the sheet of snow without sinking in at all.

His black cloak played a complete contrast to his surrounding environment of white, making it picturesque akin to a modern art.

Of course it was none other then Arthur who somehow figured out how to walk without sinking inside the snow and now he looked like an old and mysterious expert who was gliding effortlessly across the treacherous snow storm, experiencing the events of this world.

Arthur's POV:

My feets were not sinking inside this snow anymore and I have observed for a while that the snow here is not similar to a normal snow at all. The snow here is less denser but more whiter then a real snow? I don't actually know how to put it into words but what I do know is how I am walking in this sinking sheet of thick snow.

5 minutes earlier;

I kept dragging my feet against the snow yet they kept on sinking like a quick sand! It has already been 5 minutes yet I have only walked a measly distance of 50 meters! At this rate, forget about wandering around, I may not even be able to meet the head warden! Imagine him leaving because I didn't showed up or worse, imagine us meeting formally for the first time and he sees me in this condition, stuck in the snow and unable to move. Even after all those moments of me acting as a mysterious expert!

Such thoughts were running rampant inside my mind when an epiphany suddenly hit me, I quickly ran chakra through my feet and adjusted the flow of chakra and lo and behold!

My feet were no longer sinking in the snow and on the other hand, I started floating in it like I was walking in water.

[How did you do it? ] the system asked out of courtesy since it already knew how I did it.

"It's just like tree climbing or walking in water! I just have to adjust the flow of chakra according to this snow. " I replied, somewhat proud of my achievements.

"It's like walking on water except the water is a bit harder and denser" I further explained.

[That's what we call as snow dumbass. ] the system ridiculed.

'You are getting really brave lately. ' I warned and the system changed the topic.

[I mean in theory, you can also walk in air since it is also just another medium right? You just have to find the right amount of chakra and it's density to levitate in the air. ] the system finally spoke something useful without me forcing it.

"Indeed" I replied as I started feeling the freezing wind with my hand.

[I mean air is just a really light and warm water which is evaporated correct? ] the system further pulled my leg.

"Fck off"

Another 10 minutes later...

[Is it just me Or are we aimlessly moving around here for the last 20 minutes? ] the system asked with slight concern.

"It's not like we are wandering aimlessly, I do have a guess about where we can find him. " I replied while looking at my mini map which my previously naive self deemed so useless.

"We are going to the mountain top. "

I walked for 9 minutes straight while looking at my mini map and soon came across a steep inclination towards the blurry sky covered with snowy clouds.

[Get ready for a steep climb] the system spoke and I nodded my head in confirmation.

The inclination in front of me was 90 degrees steep and just 10 meters on top of it was laden full with clouds, obstructing me from seeing what is beyond the clouds.

[Use sharingan.] the system adviced which I declined.

"I will use the mini map. " I replied while showing a new found confidence in my system's mini map.

I started climbing up while sticking my legs with chakra like wall climbing exercise and soon came across the 10 meters mark where the clouds began and obstructed my vision.

Setting my gaze to the mini map, I started walking again and soon after 5 meters, the cloud started disappearing and soon my vision wasn't obstructed and I could clearly see what was in front of me.

The steep inclination suddenly turned 90 degrees horizontally like a plateau.

The supposed steep mountain top was nowhere to be found as I stood on the desolate plateau.

[Is this the mountain top...? ] the system asked in confusion as I nod my head in reply.

[The mountain top ended before it even began! ] the system laughed as if it said the most funniest joke one could hear.

I checked the mini map and it says that we still have around 1 km steep climbing to do before we reach the 'mountain top'.

'Fck, is this mini map not updated? ' I cursed as this reminded me of the first time google maps was introduced. Maybe there was indeed a mountain top here before and the mini map was just not up to date.

Then suddenly I remembered that the head warden's final attack had erased the mountain tops of this lion's gate mountain range!

When I kidnapped the old warden, a young gaurd was shouting something like the mountain tops are erased!

Of course I didn't see him erasing the mountain tops as I kamui towards my dimension before the attack hit me but to think just one mountain top was 1 km tall yet he erased many such tops at the same time!

"Truly amazing! " I muttered absentmindedly while admiring the sheer feat of the head warden.

"Isn't it? " a familiar voice replied to me.
