Camelot City

A year has passed.

Arthur lays down on the bed after finishing all paperwork related to running this city. It is not as difficult as running an entire kingdom and it is relatively easier given his knowledge and love for books. However, a frown can be seen in his face.

It has been a year and there is still no news from the Windshire Castle or even his uncle. He starts doubting his uncle's intentions on saving the Royal Family. Maybe he has been coveting the throne even before his father died?

Arthur shakes his head as he stops himself from overthinking this explanation. His uncle has been really good to him and he is just probably busy in running the kingdom. After all, it has only been a year after Ernest seized the throne.

But, unbeknownst to Arthur, his first hunch may have a chance of being right. Currently, in the Windshire Kingdom, Duke Carl is talking and laughing with Ernest, the King. Perhaps Ernest colluded with the Duke in order to get the throne for himself?

Arthur will eventually find it out soon. What is really happening in the castle and who are really at fault? He suspects that his father's death isn't as simple as being killed because of exhaustion in killing beasts and monsters.

"I currently don't have the power to investigate these things. If only the news that I don't have a talent to use a sword or even to use magic, I can still run the kingdom with my knowledge." Arthur looks outside through the window as he speaks to himself.

In this world, it is not easy to live by just being smart or intelligent. Though, if there is one wish that Arthur has, it is to bring peace and freedom to all people regardless of their abilities. Maybe he can start this in the Camelot City.

While he is pondering on what to do to improve the city, a deafening sound pierces his ear and he runs toward the source.

"Where did that come from?" Arthur looks around at the empty hallway.

He is about to move away from the place when he suddenly tripped on a wood sticking out of the floor. Luckily, he places his hand on the floor to save his face but his right hand is being sucked by the floor.

Initializing scan...

"Initializing... what?" Arthur's face is full of shock as he feels like this is his end.

Checking the requirements...

Scan complete.

"You are eligible to become a host of the Great Library from the future." A cold voice said.

Arthur screams as his whole body is being sucked by the wooden floor. Suddenly, he falls down near a pillar like structure with a book on top of it. He hears the vibration coming from the book as it gives off a green-colored glow.

'It seems like the sound came from this book.' Arthur gets up and looks at the glowing book.

"Welcome, Host!" This time, Arthur hears a different voice. It seems like the person bearing this voice is a proud man.

Arthur calms himself down and attempts to understand what's happening. He looks around and sees that this is an unused library. "Who are you? Where are you?"

"I am the Great Library and you have been chosen to be a host. I am system designed to help you on whatever you dream of." The voice seems to be contented and happy with his abilities.

"A system? What is that?" Arthur looks confused but he understand that this library is like a spirit in this world. When an object gains consciousness, it becomes a spirit but it is rare to see an entire place to become a spirit.

"You don't know what that is? And they say you are someone who has the most read books in the entire world." The voice seems to be insulting and laughing at Arthur.

Arthur thinks about what is happening. How come this library knows that I have read more than anyone in the world? Perhaps, the scan earlier?

The Great Library replies as if he knows what Arthur has been thinking about. "You are correct. The scan is meant to find someone who loves to read books and have read a lot of it. Look at this place, it is dusty! You are the second person to ever come across this library."

"Then, what is a system? From what I know, it is collective parts working together to perform a certain mechanism or it can be a set of procedures we need to follow. If you are a system, then what are you?" Arthur looks around the Great Library.

"Oh... I am not really sure what a System is! Hehe." The sound the voice produced seems to be having doubt. If this is a human, he is surely sweating now. "You can just think of me as a Librarian that gives you missions such as reading books and applying what you read. I will give you a reward as well for that."

"Okay, then I want to ask more question. How about-"

Ding.

A box panel appears above the special book on the pillar.

[Mission 1: Read 10 books about structures such as walls, roads, and houses.

Details: The world's current knowledge is so low. You have to improve your knowledge on structures. This will help you on creating a strong structure that cannot be easily torn down by beasts or calamities.

Rewards: 1 Lottery Ticket, 10 gold coins.]

Arthur heaves a sigh but he is also glad that he can read more books. He can see that the books here are books he has never seen before.

"Goodluck, Host!"
