[WELCOME, HOST.] [To manifest your parting gift, please issue the verbal command: ‘System’.] [◈ STATUS MANIFEST ◈] [Name: Azrael Ashveil] [Rank: Beginner] [◈SYSTEM STOREFRONT◈] [► Potions | Weapons | Artifacts | Skills | AFFINITIES] [◈Gamble of Fate◈] -- -- -- Kenji’s life was hard. During the day, he worked in a bookstore. At night, he served ramen. He did it all to take care of his family. His mom was sick and needed medicine, and his little sister needed money for school. His best-paying gig was working for a mysterious author, illustrating the manga for a popular web novel. There was just one problem: he hated the story. He was in the middle of drawing the academy arc when his frustration peaked. The story’s villain, a rich kid named Azrael Ashveil, was weak. He made dumb mistakes and died unfairly. Kenji thought the character deserved better. After finishing a panel showing Hero's Victory, Kenji collapsed from exhaustion. He wakes up not in his small apartment but in a fancy bed with silk sheets. Looking in the mirror he sees the handsome, violet-eyed face of Azrael Ashveil. He has entered the story he hated and is now the doomed villain. Worse, he's arrived late to the party. The original Azrael has already made a mess of things. The story's golden-boy hero, Kaelen, already despises him. His beautiful wife, the half-elf heroine Elvara, is terrified of him. And all of his death flags-the events that lead to his execution are right around the corner. Azrael must use his knowledge of the future just to stay alive. Can a minor villain with no power of his own really change his fate, or will he just find a new, even more tragic ending than the one he was trying to escape?

After uploading 71 chapters, I’m finally dropping my own review! In this, I’ll be answering many of the common questions I’ve been asked so far. You can also leave your own questions in this box, I’ll try to reply to them (unless I get lazy, of course). 1. Is there a harem? How big? Will his sister or other favorite characters be in it? First, let me be clear this novel is not like others where authors mess up their story by changing things just to please readers. This isn’t a random fantasy where you wake up in another world for some weird reason and suddenly become overpowered. This is realistic fantasy, where things make sense. As for the harem size, it won’t be large. There will be many girls who respect or even love him, but not all will end up in the harem. 2. Does the system control him? No the system only guides him. It helps him, but he’s free to choose any path. 3. Will the MC turn into a villain or act more villainous? That’s a silly question if you’ve read even the first chapter. Kenji isn’t evil, tsundere, or double-faced like in some other novels. He’s a genuinely good guy, though sometimes he acts differently if the system or the plot demands it. 4. Will he get stronger powers right away? This is a weak-to-strong story actually, more like weak to weak but barely surviving, then slowly growing stronger. The progression is logical and steady, not rushed. 5. What about the first arc? The first arc is basically world-building and laying the foundation. Honestly, I was amazed by the response it got. But believe me the real peak is yet to come. 6. Is this an academy novel? Yes, but not entirely. The first arc is less focused on the academy; it sets up the world. The real academy plot begins in the second arc. That’s all for now. I think I’ve answered most of the big questions. If you still have more, feel free to drop them here, I’ll reply when I can!
