[COMPLETED] Zephany Draven is a shy, clumsy celebrity journalist who is constantly ridiculed for not getting the big scoops. She is soft-spoken and easily intimidated, so she looks weak. However, behind closed doors, she's Eclipse, an altogether tougher, loud-mouthed agent and quite ruthless and efficient. Kendrick Montclair is a gentle, positive artist who loves his family and remains optimistic despite his struggles. His gentle nature makes him easy to take advantage of. But secretly, he's Obscura, a cold, ruthless agent who is efficient and silent. Both work as partners in a secret organization that preserves hidden truths erased by governments, yet they remain completely unaware of each other's true identities. Their goal is to reach the highest level of clearance to access classified information. But just when they're on the verge of success, they fail. Then, a mysterious man appears with an offer—a contract marriage in exchange for the information they desperately seek. Trapped with no alternative, they sign the deal, having no idea that they just married their secret partner in crime. But neither expected what would happen next. ------------- Kendrick and Zephany sat by the glass wall, waiting for their food when a car suddenly crashed through. Kendrick pulled Zephany to safety just in time, but both got small cuts from the broken glass. "Are you okay?" they asked, checking each other. To their astonishment, the cuts healed before their eyes. Their minds raced. "Beside me, the only person I know who has that ability is." "No! She can't be that loud, short-tempered woman!" "No! He can't be that silent, obnoxious man!" "Did I marry my secret partner in crime?" They both shuddered at the thought.

Well at long last an attempt to write a review for this amazing book. First of all I want to say that the author has made an incredible growth from the start of her first book finishing it towards the start of this new story. Because this story literally starts with a Big BANG. Incredible enough she makes you feel for the characters almost immediately. She has set a solid stage for the rest of the story to progress into the mysterious unknown. Strangely you could describe the start as "slow" as it takes quite a few chapters before you get at the premise of the synopsis, but at the same time it doesn't really feel slow as the book quite literally sucks you in the confines of its world and doesn't allow you to put it down (unless you reach the end of the published chapters that is fo What l absolutely adore about this book is the mysterie. Nothing happens just suddenly without rhyme nor reason, there is definitely foreshadowing here and there, but it is so well hidden that you have to be a paranoid detective like me to get even a glimpse of it. In hindsight it is very logical but when reading you feel this looming danger not knowing when it will strike and whether what you think is gonna happen will even happen. This book keeps me on the tip of my chair and sometimes keeps me up at night. Nothing is what it seems at first glance and I keep trying to puzzle all the clues together not knowing if they are distractions or real important clues. Besides the mystery I also really like the characters. The synopsis starts with these ultra cool people that are secret agents, but they both are quite atypical to the normal stereotypes in the way they devide their roles. It is also not like one can't do what the other does it is just how their past has shaped them and their current preference. I sometimes suspect that they might be even better in the others expertise than their preferred one, but they are so strong and cover each others weaknesses so well that I am also not sure. Anyway, you get to really know them, their past selves, their pain, their current selves, their inner world. And the beautiful thing about it is that their partner slowly gets to know the other together with us. Even though we all know they will most definitely fall in love it isn't out of nowhere, you get to read, in a logical followable way, how they slowly fall for each other even when they are not even aware of it. I can't really explain it all that well but they fall in love in a way that could happen for real, not just book logic. It feels real and it makes me squeal inside. They are so caring and sweet, I can hardly wait until the "big reveal". On a side note: in both the authers works I have found the described art, poems and other forms of art really captivating to read about. It is not just a cookie cutter lets copy paste a poem or work of art here and make it sound deep. No, it really seems like someone deliberatly wrote them specifically for the story but still poetic, layered, deep and touching as art is supposed to be. It is not like: we invent a work of art here and everyone just loves it because I say they do story logic, no she writes about the art and lets it speak for themselves. A poem can really touch me and a work of art is vividly created whitin my mind in a way that makes me want to paint it myself just so I can look at it. But that is just the artist in me, I am not sure how others feel about this ct and I am aware this might just be my personal experience while reading and enjoying these books. All in all this auther is a master in "showing us what happens in an engaging, captivating way instead of just telling what has/had happened". If you are looking for badass characters, a mysterious story, hidden identities and real but sweet romance this is definately it. If you want something predictabel without plot twist or too much dept I would advise you to move along. Also if you enjoy art and read this I would love to know your take on the pieces of art described and written in both of this authors books and let me know if it is just me.
