The hutts, and the chiss. In lore it's know that they are highly xenophobic, and considered themselves as superiors to other species. The hutts are known for their use of slavery, and the chiss are known for their unsavory thoughts on other species and would prefer their own species rather than other species. The chiss only joined the fight due to their interests in human controlled systems. They wanted some of the humans technology, and some of the resources of human systems. The chiss gate kept humanity from joining so they could exploit the non client species for their own gain. The chiss, and hutts made an alliance, and agreed to turn over human prisoners to the hutts for profits. The chiss only wanted their territories, and resources. While the hutts wanted them to be slaves due to their adaptability, and low maintenance cost of upkeep.

Well it's part of the contingency plan. Those just sat there for centuries. The artificial intelligence gestalt is just a self replicating a.i but with differing opinions, and personalities like someone who got multiple personality disorders. It just sat there waiting for a directive, and ate up all the resources on that rogue planet. Plus mat trans can only transfer matter one place to the other by information, extraction of said thing, and copying the exact thing to the last very atom using nanites that double as 3d printers that use up the nearby precious rare earth metals from asteroids to another location. The first human (In this plot) to test that needed a metallic body since there isn't biomass in space. His consciousness is still preserved but in a metal shell. It would take hours to scan to the very last particles, send it to another place via light speed communication, and weeks to create ships the size of large asteroids using nanites. If the mc even has allies but considering his stance it might be not the safest action considering the transmission might get decrypted by the republic, and get the schematics that has every weakness with the designs. Mat trance is just a way to make another FTL alternative since it's passed through like information. And information can be transfered in faster than light considering it doesn't have mass. Unlike psych space it's safe, but more resource intensive. Plus the mc's matter manipulation can't make big ships because it would take time to make one alone since you need schematics, the know how on process of how it's built, and need to now what metals does the ship use. And time is a limited resource in a war. It's better to fabricate it in the rogue world rather than have the fabricator follow you. It would make the enemy attack the fabricators first because it would be a hit on manufacturing capabilities, and would hinder any future fighting capability.
