What I hate about when this happens in fan fictions. Is that some of the mutants you would first think about are literally famous across the world. Charles Xavier is famous and lives in New York State. There is no way You weren't able to find him if he exists. Logan was in the military. He's a soldier registered name listed as fighting with captain america, There's no way you haven't found him either. Hank mccoy is a famous researcher. I can go on and on with this. If any of the famous mutants, that are known with a search on the internet come up later that's a big drop of the ball on your part. I've seen some authors get surprised when they find about mutants. And then do a Google search and find The school for mutants, not an hour's drive from where they live, because it has a public persona they should've known about.
