That's one of the reasons I added the broadcasts to the story. If the players were just in a coma and nobody knew what was happening to them, like in the anime, what you said would be true. But with the broadcast, the whole world watching, the government has no option but to give them the best care.

I don't believe there was a set time, so in my mind I made them start to appear a little later in, first as expensive amd exclusive items, then getting more common as time goes on
