Zachary's little mistress

'She was intoxicated by him; too intoxicated that it started to taint her delicate soul' ... Amelia Sunfield, princess of Scrollrealm was faced with a challenge. With her father's deteriorating health, she had to get married in a few weeks. Things could only get worse when she married a total stranger who she believed to be good. Abused and mistreated by her new husband, Amelia had only one person to run to.. Zachary, her guard. ... "Zach, I plead with you. Go from me, please. Darkness can never mix with light," Amelia murmured, looking into his dark eyes. She couldn't fathom the look he carried but it wasn't something she wanted to know. "You've sinned too much. You've killed innocent and guilty, Zachary. It isn't something I can overlook" Zachary's face held no emotion beforehand; hearing her made him smile. "Haven't you heard, Little mistress that darkness follows light? Remind yourself that, without darkness, there would be no more light. No matter how dark things seem right now, stay by my side and I promise to protect you. I was created to do that, Little mistress," he replied and she sighed. His next words made a chill run down her spine and she became frigid instantly. "I only need a cup of your blood daily"

Lost in the woods- 1

"No, Princess Amelia. I'll like to visit the jewelry store to get some for myself," said Emily who was surprised by the change of things. "I need to also get one for my mother"

Amelia finally stopped to listen to Emily who tried to catch her breath.

"Oh, I'll like to check out the food first," Amelia responded while Emily smiled in response. "You can go, Emily. We both have different choices. Be safe," Amelia added and without another word, the girls separated to different parts of the town.

Amelia held her gown gently so she could walk with ease. The smell of bread wafted across her nose and her stomach couldn't help but grumble at the smell.

"How much do you sell that one?" Amelia asked the woman selling the newly baked bread as she pointed to a middle-sized fluffy brown bread.

"Have it for a gold coin," the woman replied with an unconcerned look as she weighed Amelia with her eyes.

"Do not look at the bread that way, you peasant. Selling your properties might not be able to pay for it. Leave my shop," the woman yelled and Amelia became surprised. "I don't sell cheap bread. Visit another store where you might find the one you can afford," the woman shouted. By now, the people in the street had their attention on the shop to know what would happen next. "What's going on here?" A blonde man who smelled of flour asked approaching the woman who looked pissed.

"Pleasant evening sir. I came to buy bread," Amelia replied in a gentle tone.

The man turned to the woman and raised a brow as if asking for an explanation.

"Honey, you know how I do it. I don't sell my first ten pieces of bread to peasants. It means bad luck to have my first bread of the evening bought by a lowlife," the lady said to the man who rubbed his temple.

"Forgive me for my wife's harsh attitude. Which did you want to buy?" The man asked Amelia who offered him a smile before saying.

"That one,"

Wrapping the bread carefully, he handed it to Amelia who took it and in turn, handed a gold coin to the man.

Amelia expected it to happen when she dressed poorly. The woman must have thought low of her. It was the way the world worked. Those who dressed in fancy attires were the elites and those who did not were the peasants. This was something Amelia loved doing; dressing like a commoner and blending into the lower society. Eating from their kiosks and drinking from their Inns. Though, many a time, Amelia received insults from people who thought she was truly poor. It only showed how life was for the commoners.

Sighing, she unwrapped the bread and took a bite.

"Mhm.. Yummy"

The street she was now was a twenty-minute walk from Tobias' house. Going to visit him didn't sound bad, but then she didn't want to miss the fair.

Like a little kid, Amelia walked along the street looking at the stores on her both sides and buying whatever she felt was appetizing.

The day began to darken and that was when Amelia discovered she had wandered too far.

"She looks beautiful. What a treat"

"Oh, stop it. What if she recognizes us? Let's leave the lady to herself. I'm not even hor-"

"She looks like us. Not an elite so even if we do her and kill her, no one is going to find out"

Amelia gulped seeing three men approach her. She heard their earlier conversation and she couldn't help but feel nervous.

Turning around, she quickened her steps and began to walk away from there. The men quickened their steps also. Amelia's heart raced. This was a silent part of the city and as the men said, she could be killed here. Amelia got to a point where she had to pick between three different roads. She wondered where she had come from. Turning around, she saw the men begin to run to catch up to her.

Without thinking, she took the right and began to run also.

Her brain began to work on its own hearing the men run faster.

'Oh God, what trouble have I gotten myself into?'

The path she chose was a rocky one which meant she couldn't run fast. She wondered if the world had turned its back on her because of the heels she wore. Before leaving the palace, she had contemplated if to wear flat shoes or heels. She eventually wore the heels and right now, she regretted it.

Looking backward, she saw the men kept on running on the rocky path. Biting her tongue, Amelia cursed knowing they weren't retreating. It seemed like she had taken the wrong path since no sign of life could be spotted. Just trees at her left and right.

That didn't stop Amelia. She stopped for a brief moment and took off her heels. Turning around she aimed it at one of the men. The shoe moved until it hit the man's nose and he shrieked.

Aiming again with the other leg, it hit the second man's forehead which made the men stop.

"Bitch.. Get her. I'll rest here," one of the men said before sitting. He breathed harshly. The other man who had not been hit began to chase Amelia who looked like she had run out of strength. Not giving up, she kept on running. She ran not caring if the rocks left wounds on her legs until ultimately, her legs kicked a stone. Her legs missed and she knew she was about to fall. Closing her eyes to the harsh reality, Amelia bit her lip expecting the harsh fall. Opening her eyes gently, she saw a pair of purple eyes looking back at her. Realizing what was going on, she found herself in the person's arms. He held her waist firmly as he stared deep into her blue eyes.

"You should run faster, Princess. And avoid falling again," the strange man said in a calm yet appealing voice to Amelia who stood on her feet, gaining her balance. Realizing what the man just said, her eyes widened. How did he know she was a princess? Turning back, she saw the man who was earlier chasing her resting his back on a tree as he held his chest. The run had tired all of them out.

Turning around to thank the kind stranger who prevented her from falling, he was nowhere in sight.

A/N: Dear readers, this is my first book here on webnovel. As we know, we've met and known our FL, and in a few chapters, we'll know of our ML too. Keep reading as the best is yet to come. This isn't a pure romance book. Though it's a romance novel, it contains other elements such as betrayal, revenge, anger, hatred, and many more. To spice things up, I'll be adding some mystery elements too.

Feel free to drop chapter comments, reviews, and power stones for this author.
