In the Moon Villa...

Shen Ning winced in pain. "Couldn't you be a little gentler? Oh God, my leg!" She leaned down slightly from the sofa, carefully touching her ankle that Mu Chen had just tended to.

Mu Chen frowned, his movements are more careful. "How careless can you be, Ning? Now look, you've sprained your ankle," he chided, though his tone held a trace of concern.

Aunt Rong quickly stepped forward, her face lined with worry. "Young Madam, how are you feeling now? Does it hurt a lot?"

Shen Ning offered a weak smile. "It's fine, Aunt Rong. Please don't worry too much."

Rong Xin reached out and gently patted Shen Ning's shoulder. "Don't stress too much about that. I'm here to help you."

Shen Ning nodded obediently.

After a brief silence, Shen Ning spoke, her gaze shifting between them. "Why don't we have dinner together? It would be nice to share a meal."

Mu Chen hesitated for a moment, then spoke. "Sorry, Ning, but not today."

"Okay," she responded, her voice soft. She turned to Rong Xin. "I'll make it up to you another day, Aunt."

As Mu Chen and Aunt Rong left the villa, the room fell into a silence. "Let's have dinner, Aunt Rong."

When she was about to go to sleep, she suddenly realised that she was on call with Qin Yuheng before. She opened his contact number and called him but the call got disconnected.

She frowned, dialing his number again. A mechanical voice responded, "The number you have dialed is currently switched off."

'Why is his phone switched off?' she wondered, glancing at the clock. It was already 11 pm. She sighed and decided to call again tomorrow.

---

Hong Kong...

The room was pitch-dark, the air heavy with the scent of spilled alcohol, disarrayed with bottles and broken items scattered on the floor.

A man sat amidst the chaos, his hand gripping an empty bottle of alcohol. His dark eyes brimmed with heartbreak, tears cutting silent trails down his face.

"Liar!"

His voice cracked, breaking into a sob that echoed in the empty room.

-----------

A month had passed since Qin Yuheng left for Hong Kong, yet he hadn't called or sent a message ever since their last brief conversation over the phone. Every time Shen Ning reached out to his assistant, she was told that there were complications with a business deal, delaying his return.

"Even if he's that busy, he should at least find a minute to call me, right?" Shen Ning murmured to herself, feeling down.

----------

Today, sensing her spirit low since last month, her friends decided to go on shopping to lighten up her mood. But Shen Ning didn't buy anything, she wasn't in the mood to do shopping.

When she returned home, it was already dark. Aunt Rong greeted her at the door with unexpected news. "Young Madam, the Young Master came back from his business trip."

Shen Ning's heart leaped with excitement. She rushed to their bedroom, the anticipation bubbling within her.

The room was dark, the curtains drawn tight. She switched on the light and spotted him sitting on the sofa, his head bowed.

"When did you come back?" she asked, her voice brimming with joy.

He didn't respond, still looking down.

"You said you'd be back by the weekend," she added, "But you disappeared for an entire month. You didn't even bother to call me."

Her words cut through the heavy silence, and finally, he spoke, his voice with sarcasm. "Why? You seem quite unhappy that I didn't call you."

"Of course, I was!" she exclaimed, stepping closer to him. "More than that, I missed you so much." She reached out, her arms ready to envelop him in a hug.

But before she could, he jerked her hands away with such force that she stumbled back in shock.

"Don't. Touch. Me." His voice was venomous, his glare freezing her in place. "With those disgusting hands of yours, Ms. Shen."

Her heart skipped a beat. "Ms. Shen?" she repeated, her voice trembling. "Ah Yu, what's wrong?"

He didn't reply.

She asked again, "Did you misunderstand something?"

Still, he remained silent, his indifference suffocating.

The unease in her chest grew. "Did you... did you find someone else outside?" she asked hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Her question seemed to snap his restraint. He grabbed a glass jar from the bedside table and hurled it to the floor, the shattering sound echoing in the room. "Say that again!" he roared.

Shen Ning flinched, her heart pounding in her chest. Suddenly, a thought surfaced in her mind, making her eyes widen. "Did you... find out about the birth control pills?" she asked, her voice barely steady.

Qin Yuheng laughed darkly, the sound chilling. "Unfortunately, yes."

"Ah Yu, I can explain," she began, her tone pleading. "I had a reason—"

"A reason?" he interrupted, his voice dripping with mockery. "After sleeping with that lover boy of yours, you dare to act innocent?"

Her body froze, her breath catching in her throat. "What... what did you say?" she asked, her voice trembling in disbelief.

His sarcastic smile widened, a cruel twist to his lips.

"You think I slept with someone else?" she whispered, her voice hollow, "How can you?"

He sneered in disgust.

Then, suddenly, her expression shifted. A cold, mocking smile appeared on her face. "Oh, you're right," she said, her voice sharp as a blade. "I did. Not once, but many times."

Qin Yuheng's eyes flared with rage, but she pressed on, gustily. "I never stopped loving him. I was forced to be with you. I cheated on you. So what now? Want a divorce?"

His jaw clenched, his hands trembling with suppressed anger. "You're provoking me," he hissed. "Because your goal is to get a divorce and run to him, isn't it? You refused to have children because of him, didn't you?"

She opened her mouth to respond, "Well, listen carefully," he growled.
